5ST3072-0MC / 5ST3073-0MC + 5SM2… + 5SY… / 5SL…

  • The RC-Unit/circuit breaker combination can be switched on using the 5ST3820-3 and adapters as well as those suitable for MCBs.
  • It is not possible to switch off the RC unit via the remote control auxiliary; the circuit is switched off via the MCB contacts.
  • The RC-Unit switched on asynchronously, in other words before the MCB.
  • If the RC-Unit is switched off the RCA will switch twice.
    1. RC-Unit on: O -> I
    2. MCB on : O -> I

Information

  • During first usage of RCA an initialization time of approx. 10-30 s is expected.
  • The remote control differentiates between fault tripping and manual OFF. After a fault trip of the mounted protection device (MPD), the remote control can still be switched remotely. After manual OFF, remote switching is locked. This is for the safety of the operator and/or the plant. To release this lock, see: “manual-OFF” reset function. For on-site maintenance, an additional mechanical locking is recommended.
  • The remote control can only be switched either wired or via the wireless interface. Switching via the wireless interface must be activated in SENTRON Powerconfig first.
  • During firmware update, the AS/FC port functions (5ST3072-0MC) are temporarily unavailable. Avoid using these functions during the update.
  • Test and switching commands are placed in a queue. Several commands must be sent at an interval of at least 15 s. The response time until a command is executed can take 1-3 s.

Status LED

If yellow slider is in RC ON and main protection device (MPD) is switched on manually during a fault trip is still present, the MPD performs a free tripping. The free tripping is handled as manual off. Please check installation and switch devices back on manually so that remote control is possible.

COM LED

Information

Automatic on = automatic reclosing function (ARD):

  • When the main protection device is triggered by a fault, the automatic reclosing device (ARD) attempts to switch back on automatically three times (default setting: 10 sec / 1 min / 10 min).
  • If all three reclosing attempts fail, this function (ARD) is locked. The LED indicates the status.
  • While waiting for an ARD attempt, the RCA can be switched on manually or via remote. Max. 3 attempts are possible, including ARD function.
  • ARD reset: To release the ARD from lock status after three failed reclosing attempts, the yellow slider must be manually set from “RC ON ” to “OFF ” and back again to “RC ON “, then the whole device combination must be switched on again with the handle.
  • The ARD function can be parametrized via the wireless interface with SENTRON Powerconfig: On/Off, waiting times, second retry after the first three reclosing attempts.

RCD/IR Test: only for 5ST3073-0MC

  • The RCD/IR test can be enabled /disabled and parametrized, depending on the configured main protection device (MPD) via the wireless interface with SENTRON Powerconfig. An IR (insulation resistance) test is always done after a trip acc. IEC63024, if enabled.
  • after a successful test the RCA is automatically turned on again
  • after an failed test, the installation must be checked for failures. No automatic ON in this case. Reset LED via yellow slider (RC ON → OFF → RC ON).
  • After the removal of the failure another test is recommended.
  • The handle must have following state before the tests can be executed, in case both are executed separately: RCD-Test: handle on: I; IR-Test: handle off: O
