Can I overclock my Razer Blade 15″ (2018) – Advanced Model?

Razer laptops are carefully crafted and its components are tuned to give the best performance under the most demanding gaming conditions. We do not recommend over-clocking your CPU, GPU, and/or RAM as these alter the delicate balance of performance and reliability of the system. There is associated risk of damage to crucial components if unauthorized changes are made, which will result in voiding manufacturer’s warranty.

Is the new Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model replacing the 14”

version of the Razer Blade?

Yes, the new Razer Blade 15” essentially replaces the 14” Razer Blade, providing more performance and features in a chassis that is 3% smaller in volume.

Where and when will the Razer Blade 15” (2018) Advanced Model be

available?

Once the initial launch is complete, the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model will be available in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Nordics, Poland, China, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore.

Upon launch, the Blade may only be available at www.razer.com.

Does the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model feature Razer Chroma?

Yes, the keyboard of the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model is a full spectrum gaming keyboard that is supported by Razer Chroma and Razer Synapse 3.

How do I tell the difference (naming wise) between the new Razer Blade 15″

model and the other Razer Blade 15″ (2018) model?

The original Razer Blade 15″ (2018) will be called Razer Blade 15 (2018) – Advanced Model and the newer Razer Blade 15″ (2018) will be called the Razer Blade 15 (2018) – Base Model.

How hot is the surface of the Razer Blade 15″ (2018) – Advanced Model

after long hours of gaming?

Surface temperature will vary but Razer has employed a touchpoint thermal design. By using special nanoparticle layers between the keyboard and internal components, the heat transfer is diverted from the user. Razer Synapse can be used to adjust fan curves to further control temperatures.

Can you turn the Razer Logo on the Razer Blade 15″ (2018) – Advanced Model

off?

The logo can be turned on and off via Synapse.

The only difference between the Razer Blade 15 (2018) – Advanced Model Mercury White Limited Edition and the black version is cosmetics.

• The Mercury White model features an anodized white finish with a tone-on-tone logo and black USB ports.
• The black version is accented with a backlit green logo and green USB ports.

The Razer Blade 15″ (2018) – Advanced Model Mercury White Limited Edition is available exclusively in the US and Canada through Razer Store, and in China through select retail partners.

Why do some of the internal components look different than images I have

seen online?

Due to the overwhelming demand for the Razer Blade 15, we investigated ways to increase production output without impacting the performance. By not painting the backside of the vapor chamber black, and adding a thermal pad to the SSD, we improved manufacturing output without increasing system temperature or decreasing performance. Both designs, the black and copper vapor chambers with the thermal pads, offer the same performance. We apologize for not clearly communicating these manufacturing changes. Our marketing materials are being updated to reflect these changes.

I have trackpad issues when running Linux (Ubuntu) OS on my Razer Blade

15” (2018) – Advanced Model. What should I do?

Be sure that you have installed the latest BIOS update  to your Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model. This update addresses your issue and other minor bug fixes.

How does the battery capacity differ among the different versions of the

A vapor chamber is an innovative cooling method, unlike traditional heat pipes, that utilizes a sealed chamber near vacuum pressure with water vapor. This new form of cooling allows for a thinner design with more efficient cooling.

Can I use either of the Thunderbolt USB-C ports to charge the Razer Blade

15” (2018) – Advanced Model?

No, the USB-C is not powerful enough since it can only support 100W maximum power delivery. The Blade requires a minimum of 200W or 230W to support the GTX 1060 and GTX1070, respectively.

Does the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model support USB fast-charging

technology such as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge?

No, the Blade 15″ (2018) – Advanced Model’s USB ports do not support fast charging technology.

Is the display on the Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model G-Sync compatible?

No, with frame rates above 60Hz the benefit of G-Sync is less apparent to the naked eye. By not integrating G-Sync we were able to use NVIDIA Optimus to help prolong the battery life when users are on the go.

What is Nvidia Surround? Which ports on Razer Blade laptops and Cores

compatible with Nvidia Surround?

Nvidia Surround allows users to extend their gaming experience across multiple displays to expand sound and vision. Compatibility will vary depending on the Nvidia GPU.

For the Razer Blade line, Nvidia Surround is a feature available on supporting GPUs that allow displays connected directly to ports that are wired to the GPU. This creates an immersive gaming experience for users through sound and vision.

For instance, on the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model, a user may connect up to two displays directly into the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model, to utilize Nvidia Surround via the HDMI and Mini DisplayPort. The USB-C port on the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model is not supported as it is connected to the Intel chip.

What is compatible with Nvidia Surround?

Compatibility extends to ports that are wired directly to Nvidia GPUs on supported Razer systems such as the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model. You can connect a Razer Core with an Nvidia Surround compatible GPU to the USB-C port and still get Nvidia Surround through the displays or monitors that are connected to the Razer Core. However, if you connect a display or monitor to the USB-C directly, Nvidia Surround will then not be compatible to that display or monitor as USB-C is not connected to the GPU, but rather the Intel CPU chip.

When connected directly into the Razer Blade 15” (2018) – Advanced Model with Max-Q, compatible ports include:

• HDMI
• Mini DisplayPort

Note for Core X:  The Core X connects via USB-C, but the monitors will be connected to the GPU directly in the Core X unit, and therefore can take advantage of the Nvidia Surround feature.

Non-Compatible display or data ports:

• USB-C
• USB 3.1

STEP BY STEP PROCESS

Note : This process is a 2-step process as you will have one updater for the mouse and one for the dock.

Updating your Razer Lancehead Mouse

1. Download the latest mouse firmware update by opening the link found above.

2. Once you click on the file select “Run”.

3. Please be sure to close Razer Synapse and other applications before proceeding. Click OK once you have closed all applications.

4. Connect your Razer Lancehead to your computer and click “UPDATE”.

5. The software will automatically update your firmware.

6. Once you see the image below, your Lancehead mouse is now up to date. Please click “CLOSE” and move to Step 2 to update the Lancehead Dock.

Updating your Razer Lancehead Dock

1. Download the latest dock firmware update by opening the link found above.

2. Once you click on the file, please select “Run”.

3. Please be sure to close Razer Synapse and other applications before proceeding. Click “OK” once you have closed all applications.

4. Connect your Razer Lancehead Dock to your computer and click “UPDATE”.

5. The software will automatically update your firmware.

6. Once you see the image below, your Lancehead mouse is now up to date. Please click “CLOSE”.
