Mounting
Mounting on ATV or UTV
Always consult technical
personnel if you are in doubt about installation. Use only the supplied
accessory for mounting. Using other mounting methods may void the warranty. To
ensure safety of the mounted sound system, always check the mounting
conditions (e.g. mounting straps) of the sound system before each vehicle
ride.
- Using the two supplied mounting straps and zip ties, secure the sound system on the rails or roll bars of the vehicle, as shown in the figure below. Make sure the sound system is securely attached to your vehicle.
No special tool is required when mounting the sound system on ATV or UTV. The illustration is for reference only. Your vehicle may vary.
Power Connection
Power Connection to Cigarette Lighter Socket (Option 1)
The sound system can be powered by direct connection to your vehicle cigarette
lighter socket as an optional power supply.
See “Before You Start” section
for installation precautions. This sound system is operated with 12 V DC
vehicle voltage. Never connect the sound system to any other voltage supply
(e.g. 24 V DC power supply in trucks or buses).
- Simply insert the cigarette lighter plug of the sound system into your vehicle cigarette lighter socket. When the power supply is connected, the power LED indicator lights up.
Power Connection
Power Connection to Vehicle Battery (Option 2)
The sound system can be also powered by connection to your vehicle battery as
an optional power supply.
See “Before You Start” section
for installation precautions. To avoid short circuits and any resulting damage
to the sound system, the negative terminal of the car battery must be
disconnected first. We recommend a fuse and fuse holder (both not included)
with minimum rating of 15 A are in line with the positive terminal of the
vehicle battery. The ground cable length should not exceed 18″ (45.7 cm).
- Connect the black wire of the cigarette lighter plug adapter to the chassis ground point.
- Connect the red wire of the cigarette lighter plug adapter to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery using 12 – 14 gauge wire (not included). We recommend installing a relay and 15 A fuse and fuse holder in line with the vehicle battery (Relay, fuse and fuse holder are not included). See the illustration below.
- Connect the cigarette lighter plug of the sound system into the cigarette lighter plug adapter. When the power supply is connected, the power LED indicator lights up.
Bluetooth Play
Before you can stream music from your mobile device (iOS device or Android device) to this sound system through Bluetooth, pair the sound system with your mobile device.
- Make sure the AUX cable is not connected to the sound system. Then connect to power supply. The power LED indicator on the cigarette lighter plug lights up, and the sound system will automatically enter pairing mode.
- On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth function and select the device name (“Boss Audio ATV6.5B”) to pair the sound system with the mobile device. If prompted for password input on your mobile device, input “0000”. If no Bluetooth device is paired within two minutes, the sound system will automatically exit pairing mode. In this case, you need to repeat the steps above to re-enter the pairing mode.
- After pairing, select and play audio files on your mobile device, and audio will be streamed to the sound system. Uset the volume control on the connected device to adjust volume.
To maximize audio performance, set the volume of the Bluetooth device to a
minimum 75% of the total volume before Bluetooth connection.
After pairing, the sound system will be automatically connected to your mobile
device each time the two are turned on.
Operating the sound system consumes the vehicle battery. To avoid battery
exhaustion, be sure to run the vehicle engine when operating the sound system.
Operational range can be reduced by any obstacle between the sound system and
the device.
If the connected device is out of the effective range from the sound system,
the device will be automatically disconnected. The device will be
automatically re-connected if it is within the effective range again.
The sound system automatically re-connects the last paired device only. If
your mobile device is not the last paired device, make sure no other device is
currently paired with the sound system then repeat the steps described above
to manually re-connect the sound system to the mobile device.
AUX Play
Yon can listen to an external audio device (e.g. MP3 player or a mobile phone) through this sound system.
-
Using the supplied AUX cable, connect to the AUX input jack (3.5 mm) on the sound system to the headphone jack on your audio device.
If the sound system is currently connected to a mobile device through Bluetooth, Bluetooth connection will be automatically disconnected. -
Select and play audio files on your audio device. Audio from the connected device will be played on this sound system. Use the controls on the connected device to control play (e.g. volume adjustment).
To maximize audio performance, set the volume of the connected device to a
minimum 75% of the total volume before connection to the audio device. To
resume Bluetooth connection, you must disconnect the AUX cable from the sound
system. Operating the sound system consumes the vehicle battery. To avoid
battery exhaustion, be sure to run the vehicle engine when operating the sound
system.
Fuse Replacement
Fuse replacement of the vehicle cigarette lighter plug
If the power LED indicator on the vehicle cigarette lighter plug does not
light up, this indicates the fuse inside the cigarette lighter plug is blown.
Replace the blown fuse with a 10A AGC fuse type only.
- Turn counterclockwise the front end assembly of the cigarette lighter plug to open to access the fuse. Replace with a new 10A AGC fuse (not included). Then replace the front end assembly of the cigarette lighter plug.
