This necklace measures approximately 18 inches. To modify the length, simply adjust the length of chain on both sides respectively.

  1. Begin by cutting the foot of rolo chain in half so you have two lengths, 6 inches each.
  2. Next, string on one pearl onto one head pin. Make a simple wire loop*. Set aside. Repeat 23 times.
  3. Then, string on one crystal bead onto one eye pin. Make a simple wire loop. Set aside. Repeat 7 times.
  4. Set the Rivoli stone into the prong setting*. Using the popsicle stick, bend the prongs over the stone. Bend one down then move across to bend the one directly across. Bend the other two prongs into place to secure the stone.
  5. Open one 4mm jump ring* and attach it to the prong setting and to one 10mm jump ring. Close the jump ring.
  6. Attach one crystal bead to the 10mm jump ring by opening the simple wire loop, same as you would a jump ring. Close the loop.
  7. Move to the opposite side of this bead and attach it’s second simple wire loop to another 10mm jump ring. Repeat to add four crystal beads and 3 jump rings total coming off each side of the center jump ring.
  8. To the last crystal bead, open the simple loop and attach one end of one length of chain. Close the loop. Repeat on the other side with the second length of chain.
  9. Add three pearls to each of the bottom side of each jump ring by opening their simple wire loops and attaching them to the 10mm jump rings. For the jump ring in the center, you will add three to one side of the rivoli crystal, and three to the other side.
  10. Finally move to one end of the chain and attach one 4mm jump ring. To the other end of the chain, attach one jump ring and one lobster clasp.

How to Properly Bend a Prong Setting

Setting 1

  1. Position your crystal in the setting, facing up. Align the popsicle stick to the side of the prong you are about to set. In this photo you can see that the prong next to the popsicle stick has not been set and is sticking straight up whereas the prong across from it has been set and is bent over.

Setting 2

  2. Going from an angle, begin to press down on the prong. Apply a gentle but firm pressure as you start to bend the prong on top of the crystal.

Setting 3

  3. Continue pressing until the prong is bent over the crystal. The wood of the popsicle stick should not scratch the crystal. Go back over the prong several times until it is firmly pressed down onto the crystal.

Setting 4

  4. Once the prong is set, it will no longer stick straight up. Tip: set the first prong and then set the one directly across from it, not the one next to it. This back and forth across method will help to prevent your crystal from slipping out of place as you work on it.

How to Open and Close a Jump Ring

  1. Use your chain nose pliers to grab one side of the jump ring with the open slot at the top.
  2. Grab the other side of the jump ring with another pair of chain-nose pliers, round nose pliers, or other tools that you have around. Twist the jump ring open by pushing one side away from the other.
  3. To close the jump ring, simply twist the sides back in place so that you close the gap and return the jump ring to its original position.

How to Create a Simple Wire Loop

  1. Place your bead(s) onto a headpin.
  2. Right after the bead, use your chain nose pliers to bend the wire at a 45-degree angle.
  3. Grab the wire with your round nose pliers at the bend. Use your fingers or a pair of pliers to bend the wire over the top of the round nose pliers.
  4. Rotate your round nose pliers to the top of your loop (to get a better grip on the wire) and continue bending your wire around the pliers nose so that you create a complete loop.
  5. Where the wire overlaps itself (completing the loop), snip off your wire tail using wire cutters.

How to Create a Wrapped Wire Loop

  1. Place your bead(s) onto a headpin. Right above the bead, grab the headpin with your chain nose pliers and bend the wire at a 90-degree angle above the pliers. This creates a small upright piece of wire between the bead and the bend.
  2. Grab the wire with your round nose pliers just above the bend. Bend the wire around and over the top of your round nose pliers.
  3. Reposition your round nose pliers to make it easier to loop the wire all the way around the nose, creating a complete loop.
  4. Remove your round nose pliers and grasp the top of the loop with your chain nose pliers. Using either your fingers or another pair of pliers, grip the end of the wire and coil it tightly around the upright piece of wire below your loop, coiling from top to bottom. Keep coiling until your reach the top of your bead.
  5. Where the wire coil tail meets the bead, snip off the excess wire end with your wire cutters.
  6. Use chain nose pliers to tuck the end of the wire neatly in, at the bottom of your wrapping.

How to Crimp a Crimp Bead

  1. String the crimp tube after your last bead.
  2. Bring the wire through a clasp or a closed jump ring.
  3. Thread the wire back down through the crimp tube and a few of the beads.
  4. Pull the wire snug, but not too tight.
  5. With your crimping pliers, position the crimp tube in the notched set of grooves closest to the handle and squeeze.
  6. Rotate the crimp tube 90 degrees. Position it in the smooth set of grooves closer to the tip and squeeze the pliers.
  7. Your crimp tube should be smooth with a seam down one side.
  8. Trim the wire close to where it exits the beads.

How to Add a Crimp Bead Cover

  1. Hold the crimp cover in a pair of chain-nose pliers with the opening toward the tips.
  2. Still gripping the crimp cover with the pliers, slide the open side of it over the crimped crimp bead.
  3. Squeeze the sides of the crimp cover together until they meet.
  4. Your crimp cover should be round with a seam down one side.

How to Fold Over Cord Ends

beadaholique Hamptons Necklace featuring - How to Use Fold Over Ends
1

  1. Insert your cord or braided material into the well of the fold-over cord end so that the ring is at the top of your cord, not being covered by it.
  2. Using your chain nose pliers, flatten one of the sides of the fold-over cord end over the inserted cord. Press down at several places on the cord end so that the side lays flat.
  3. Repeat step 2 on the other side of your fold-over cord end.
  4. Your finished cord end should now have both sides folded over and they will slightly overlap if it is a thin cord or there will be a small gap if it is a thick cord. If any cord sticks out of the end with the ring, carefully trim it away with a sharp pair of scissors or flush cutters.
