Yale Tubular Lockset Lever Installation Guide

Select Proper Backset

For use on doors 1-3/8″ to 1-3/4″ (35mm – 45mm)
Backset is distance from door edge to center of hole on door face.

• Backset 2-3/8″ or 2-3/4″ (60mm – 70mm)
  

•  

To adjust backset from 2-3/8″ to 2-3/4″
Pull latch tail.

To adjust backset from 2-3/4″ to 2-3/8″
Push latch tail.

Template

CAUTION: If printed from website print 1:1 scale. Measure dimensions for accuracy before use.

Mark Door

1. Fold and apply template to high edge of door bevel and mark center of door edge as indicated on template at desired height from floor; approximately 38″ (965mm).
   

2. Mark center hole on door face through guide on template for either 2-3/8″ (60mm) or 2-3/4″ (70mm) backset.
   

Drill Holes

1. Drill 2-1/8″ (54mm) hole through door face as marked for lockset.

Note: Drill holes from both sides to prevent splitting.

2. Drill 1″ (25mm) hole in center of door edge through to 2-1/8″ (54mm) hole for latch.
   

Install Latch

• Insert latch in hole keeping it parallel to face of door.
  Mark outline and remove latch.
  

• Chisel 1/8″ (3.2mm) deep or until latch face is flush with door edge.

• Insert latch in hole keeping it parallel to face of door.
  Mark two (2) fastener holes, remove latch and drill pilot holes with 1/16″ (1.6mm) drill bit.
  Using provided screws, install latch.
  

Install Strike

• Mark template for strike opening from edge of jamb. Move 1/4″ (6mm) toward door stop to locate centerline for screws and 1″ (25mm) hole. Make certain strike is at same height as latch.

• Bore 1″ (25mm) hole 1/2″ (13mm) minimum deep into door jamb on centerline of screws.
  

• Match screw holes on strike with centerline on jamb. Outline outside edges of strike. Mortise 1/16″ (1.6mm) deep.
  Using provided screws, install strike. If strike box is required, mount under strike as shown.
  

Install Exterior Lever

Insert lever with spindle into latch. Make certain that stems are positioned correctly though latch holes.
Press flush against door.

Install Interior Lever

Turn interior lever so that assembly and rose can be placed on spindle. The interior lever must engage exterior lever connect bar.
Plush flush against door.
Insert screws through holes and tighten.
