 Safety warnings

WARNING! Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifica tions provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The warranty expires if you open the machine housing or make any other modifications to the machine.

Preventing damage to the battery

Cells in lithium-ion batteries are sealed so as to be gas-tight and are non- hazardous provided they are used and handled in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Handle discharged batteries with care. Batteries represent a safety hazard as they can cause a very high short circuit current. Even if Li-ion batteries appear to be discharged,  they are in fact never fully discharged and therefore continue to represent a safety hazard.
  • Charge the machine at regular intervals to prevent hazards posed by a deeply discharged battery.
  • Make sure that the battery is not subjected to physical blows or impacts. Impacts and penetrating objects may damage the battery. This may lead to leakages, the generation of heat or smoke, or cause the battery to ignite or explode.
  • Do not expose the device to an extremely high-temperature surrounding environ ment. This may cause the battery to explode or flammable liquids or gases to escape from the battery.
  • Do not open, crush or overheat the machine (for example, also protect it from constant sunlight or naked flames ). Failure to observe these precautions is a fire and explosion hazard and may result in burns.
  • Do not immerse the machine in liquids such as (salt) water. Contact with liquids may damage the battery. This may lead to the generation of heat or smoke, or cause the battery to ignite or explode. Do not continue using the machine. Consult an authorized Festool customer service agent.
  • Do not expose the machine to extremely low air pressure. This may cause the battery to explode or flammable liquids or gases to leak from the battery.
If a battery has been damaged
  • Do not use the machine if the battery is damaged or has been modified. Stop using the machine immediately if you notice anything unusual about the battery such as odor formation or the generation of heat. Batteries that are damaged or which have been modified may exhibit unpredictable behavior which could lead to heat and smoke, fire,  explosion, or injury.
  • Never use water to extinguish burning Li-ion batteries! Use sand or a fire blanket.
  • There is a risk of vapors being released if the battery is damaged or not used correctly. The vapors may irritate your airways. Seek fresh air and consult a doctor if you feel unwell.
  • Fluid may leak out of the battery if it is used incorrectly. Avoid contact with the fluid. Rinse with water any areas which accidentally come into contact with the fluid. If fluid gets into the eyes, also consult a doctor. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation or burns.
Safe handling of the machine
  • Do not use the machine in the rain or in damp surroundings. Moisture in the machine may cause a short circuit and fire.

  • Do not use the machine as a workbench or work surface. Do not stand or sit on the machine. This could damage the battery and result in a fire or explosion.

  •   Do not transport sharp, hot or damp objects (liquids, pastes, or similar) in the machine. Only transport objects with a maximum weight of 5 kg and do not over fill the machine.  You must be able to close the lid without using force. This could otherwise damage the battery and result in a fire or explosion.

  • Risk of explosion due to improper battery replacement or use of an incorrect battery type. Only Festool customer service agents may replace the integrated battery.

  • Do not dispose of the device or battery in a fire or hot oven, and do not crush or cut them mechanically; this may cause an explosion. For correct disposal, see chapter 8 .
CAUTION! The mains plug is used to disconnect the machine from the power supply. The socket should be located near the machine and must be easily accessible at all times.

  • Do not set the machine to a high volume for long periods of time to prevent potential hearing damage.

  • Hands and fingers must not be located between the lid and the bottom section when the machine is open. If the lid falls shut, this may result in injuries to the hands and fingers.

  Information on charging the machine
  •  Only charge the machine with the original mains adapter supplied. There is a risk of fire when using an unsuitable mains adapter.
  • Only charge the machine at a room temperature between 0 °C and 45 °C (32 °F and 113 °F).
