SONY LOGO 2 Welcome to your new Sony IC recorder! This is the Quick Start Guide, which provides you with instructions on the basic operations of the IC recorder. Please read it carefully. We hope you enjoy using your new Sony IC recorder.

Power on.

  1. Slide and lift the battery compartment lid, then insert batteries with the correct polarity.
  2. Turn the power on. Slide and hold the HOLD•POWER ON/OFF switch in the direction of “POWER ON/OFF” until the window display appears. ****

To turn the power off, slide and hold the HOLD•POWER ON/ OFF switch in the direction of “POWER ON/OFF” until “OFF” is displayed. To prevent unintentional operations (HOLD) Set the date and time. When you insert batteries and turn the power on, the year section begins to flash.

  1. Press  or  to set the year (the last two digits of the year), and then press PLAY/ENTER. Repeat this procedure to set month, day, hour, and minute in sequence.

Record.

  1.   Press REC/PAUSE. Recording starts and the operation indicator lights in red. You can pause the recording by pressing REC/PAUSE. Press REC/ PAUSE again to restart the recording.
  2.  Place the IC recorder so that the built-in microphone faces the direction of the source to be recorded.
  3. Press(stop) to stop recording. “ACCESS” appears and the recording stops.

Listen. SONY IC Recorder Listen

  1. PressPLAY/ Playback starts and the operation indicator lights in green.
  2. Adjust the volume by pressing VOL –/+.
  3. Press (stop) to stop playback.

Erase.

  1. When the IC recorder is in the stop mode, press and holds ERASE. When the IC recorder is in playback mode, press ERASE. “ERASE” is displayed.
  2. Press ERASE.

Using the menu

  1. Press MENU.
  2. Press or to select a menu item for which you want to make the setting, and then press PLAY/ENTER.
  3. Press  or 
  4. to select the setting that you want to set, and
  5. then press PLAY/ENTER.
  6. Press (stop) to exit the menu mode.

Precautions

  • On power Operate the unit only on 3.0 V or 2.4 V DC. Use two LR03 (size AAA) alkaline batteries or two NH-AAA rechargeable batteries. On safety Do not operate the unit while driving, cycling or operating any motorized vehicle. On handling
  • Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical shock.
  • Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the battery and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further. If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

FAQS

Can this devise be activated silently? Or does it beep when buttons are pressed?

you can turn off the beep. then it will be silent.

The recordings are deleted when it runs of batteries?

No, any recordings you have made before the batteries run out are saved on the device. Once you put new batteries in, you can play those recordings. I usually download them to a computer i

Does this have an external speaker to play back without having to download or transfer to any other device?

Yes – on the bottom front. It’s surprisingly good for a small speaker. You can also connect directly to the device with headphones or ear buds for really good sound.

Can you record phone calls?

Yes it works well when you put the microphone close to the phone speaker.

how do you erase files?

Will it record thru my ceiling to get the neighbor’s noise?

If you can hear the noise, it should too.

How does the recorder “feel” in terms of sturdiness and weight?

Light in weight.

Can you listen live through headphones?

Yes

Is this compatible with macbook pro (macos high sierra version 10.13.4)?

Appears as thumb drive when connected via USB.

Can you record immediately on this? Without having to press Power and waiting for it to boot before you can press record?

It must be ok. My husband loves it . And if it doesn’t work, he would say so

What is the distance to pick up good quality sound/voice on the internal mic?

As with all sound it has to do with loudness. distance is not the only factor. If you can hear it the recorder will record it.

is it possible to record directly to the sd card and bypass the internal memory?

Yes. Change your recording folder in settings.

Does this have actual SD card?

Has MICRO SD card slot.

The recordings are deleted when the batteries died?

NO

Does this voice recorder have one button recording?

Yes
