APPLICATION INFORMATION:
-
MEASURE HEIGHT: With the patient in NEUTRAL ALIGNMENT, measure the vertical distance from the tip of the chin to the top of the shoulder. The measurement corresponds to the HEIGHT of the collar. If the patient’s measurement falls between two consecutive heights, try
fitting the shorter height first.
NOTE: Cervical region (head, neck, and back) of the patient must be in neutral alignment before a measurement is taken. (Fig.1) -
LOCK HEIGHT: Determine the correct height for the patient and adjust collar height to the proper position. Press the locking mechanism into the collar to secure the collar.
NOTE: The two locks on either side of the collar must be set at the same heights. Verify collar is in the locked position by attempting to readjust. If movement occurs, repeat the procedure until the collar is insecure. -
TO ADJUST HEIGHT: Release locks by pushing each lock from the inside of the collar until it is in an unsecured position.
Determine the proper height for the patient and press the lock back into the collar until secured. (Fig.3) -
After adjusting to the proper height, apply the collar to the patient’s neck. The chin should be secured by the molded chin support. If the patient is in a supine position, slide the
BACK part of the collar behind the patient’s neck until the hook-and-loop strap is visible. (Fig.4) -
Bring the hook-and-loop strap around the back of the patient’s neck and secure it to the hook-and-loop fastener.
Before attaching the hook-and-loop strap, make certain the patient’s head and collar are in proper alignment. Tighten the collar if the chin is not sufficiently supported. Select shorter height if additional tightening results in patient extension. (Fig.5) -
To remove the collar, make sure the patient’s head is in a neutral position and unfasten the hook-and-loop strap. Slowly slide the collar from behind the neck and remove it. (Fig.2)
