EAF-TVis Installation Instructions

Installation of the EAF-TVis bracket is straightforward and requires only a few simple steps. Tools needed : small diameter Philips head screwdriver, 1.5mm hex key

STEP 1

  • Rotate the scope or focuser so that the focuser pinion shaft is on top. Remove the single coarse focus knob from the right side of the focuser, as viewed from behind the telescope.
  • Locate included (1) M4x10mm flat head screw.
  • Slide the M4x10mm screw through the cutout on the side of the coupler through the round hole on the end of the coupler (be careful not to reverse the coupler and mistakenly slide the screw through the beveled EAF pinion side).
  • Fasten the coupler to the focuser pinion shaft using a small diameter philips screwdriver.
  • In order to help prevent the M4x10mm screw from working loose from the focuser, tighten the small set screw to help hold it in place (do not overtighten). Also, it may be necessary to put a very small amount of removeable (blue) thread locker on the M4x10mm screw to keep the screw in place.

STEP 2

  • Locate included (2) M4x10mm flat head screws.
  • Fasten the bracket to the focuser using the M4x10mm flat head screws.

STEP 3

  • Hold the EAF up to the two bracket holes on the end. Rotate the focuser pinion shaft so that the flat of the coupler matches the orientation of the flat on the EAF pinion shaft.
  •  Slide the EAF pinion shaft into the coupler. Fasten the EAF to the bracket using the ZWO supplied M4 screws provided with the EAF.
  • Note : both the bracket mounting holes and EAF mounting holes are slots so that there can be some adjustments to the position of the bracket and EAF. Try to align the EAF pinion with the focuser pinion.

STEP 4
Secure the coupler to the EAF pinion shaft by tightening the two coupler set screws using a 1.5mm hex key. Make them snug but do not over-tighten.
