ResMed 27925 Astral DC DC Adapter

The ResMed DC/DC Adapter (“Adapter”), provides an additional method of operating an Astral™ 100 or Astral 150 Ventilation device where AC mains power is not available. The Adapter plugs directly into a standard DC socket (eg, an automotive cigarette lighter socket) to power the Astral device and charge the internal battery.
The Adapter can be used with power sources ranging from 12V to 24V DC.

WARNINGS

  • Read instructions before use.
  • The Adapter must only be used with the Astral series of ventilators.
  • When using the Adapter, do not touch the connections at the back of the Astral device.
  • Do not connect the car battery to an AC charger while the Adapter is connected to the Astral device.
  • Do not attempt to modify the Adapter, there are no user serviceable parts inside.
  • If using supplemental oxygen with the Astral device, ensure oxygen is turned off prior to connecting or disconnecting the adapter. Only use oxygen in a well-ventilated environment.

CAUTIONS

  • Always start the car before plugging in the Astral.
  • The Adapter is intended for use on negative ground systems between 12V and 24V (where the negative terminal of the battery is grounded). Using it on a positive ground system may damage the Astral device and the vehicle’s electrical system. If you are unsure whether you have a negative ground system, consult the car, boat or other vehicle manual.
  • If the external DC power source drops below 11V, the Astral will switch to internal battery.

Notes:

  • When powered from the Adapter, the internal battery of the Astral device will charge. The Adapter will not charge the Astral External Battery.
  • The vehicle’s electrical system must be in good condition. Have it checked by an auto electrician if in doubt.
  • For further assistance or if you notice a change in the performance of the device, contact ResMed or your authorised ResMed representative.
  • For any serious incidents that occur in relation to this device, these should be reported to ResMed and the competent authority in your country

Refer to the illustration at the beginning.

  1. Plug the connector end of the Adapter into the DC input socket of the Astral device.
  2. Start the car.
  3. Plug the adaptor plug end of the Adapter into the vehicle DC socket.
  4. The light on the Adapter will glow green when the connection is made. The DC mains LED Indicator on the Astral device will also be illuminated.

Note: The Therapy on/off LED indicator on the Astral device will display a constant green when the Astral device is powered on but not ventilating.
