Intended use
The Mouthpiece ventilation (MPV) support arm holds a mouthpiece close to the
patient mouth and provides guidance for the ventilation circuit.
Use case
The MPV support arm is intended to be used by patients who need intermittent
or continuous ventilator support and who can be treated successfully on
mechanical ventilation through a mouthpiece as determined by a qualified
physician. This includes, but is not limited to patients in wheelchairs, beds,
in-home, institution/hospital, and portable applications. For a full list of

Devices. If you do not have internet access, please contact your ResMed
representative.
General cautions
CAUTION
• Read the entire guide before using the MPV support arm.
• Do not use the MPV support arm if it is damaged.
Note: Please refer to your circuit, device, or mouthpiece user guide for
full details regarding correct use.

- Extension for mouthpiece
- End clip
- MPV support arm
- Velcro® straps (eg, for coaxial circuits)
- Clips for circuit fixation (compatible with 15 (0.6’) and 22 mm (0.9’) circuits by ResMed)
- Clamp
- Hex key
Assembly
Refer to illustration A.

Put the MPV support arm [3] in one of the clamp holes and tighten the screw with the hex key [7].
Note: The clamp has four holes to secure the MPV support arm in every direction to match individual patient needs. -
According to the patient circuit configuration: Fix the end clip [2] to the MPV support arm or fix the extension [1] to the MPV support arm.

Fix the appropriate clip(s) and/or velcro strap(s) on the MPV support arm.

Fix the clamp [6] to the support (eg, wheelchair).
CAUTION
• Check that the MPV support arm is securely fixed to its support prior to use. When attaching to metal tubing, attach the clamp on a straight section to ensure a secure fit.
• Make sure that the mouthpiece is positioned well within the patient’s reach and movement capabilities at all times.

Connect the circuit to the mouthpiece and fix the complete patient circuit to the support arm with the assembled clip(s) and/or velcro strap(s).
Note: For any serious incidents that occur in relation to this device, these should be reported to ResMed and the competent authority in your country.
Cleaning
The MPV support arm can be cleaned using an antibacterial solution on a clean, non-dyed disposable cloth. The following disinfectants are compatible with cleaning the MPV support arm:
- Acetochlor Plus
- Bleach (1:10) (May also be known as ‘dilute hypochlorite’)
- Isopropanol
- Cavicide
- Mikrozid
- Teepol
Disposal
The support arm and packaging do not contain any hazardous substances and may be disposed of with your normal household refuse.

Limited warranty
ResMed warrants that your MPV support arm shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase by the initial customer. This warranty is not transferable.
