Safety Information
About the Power Supply
- Before connecting the device to your power supply, please en-sure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is com-patible with your mains supply.
- Only insert the power supply unit into a socket when the appli-ance is switched off.
- Only use the power supply unit supplied for the massager.
- Keep the power supply unit, cable and appliance well away from heat, hot surfaces, moisture and liquids.
- Do not touch the power supply unit when you are standing in water and always take hold of the plug with dry hands.
- Do not take hold of a device if it falls into water. Pull out the pow-er plug and the power supply unit from the socket immediately.
- Always switch off the appliance after use with the buttons on the control unit and unplug the power supply unit.
- To disconnect the unit from the power supply, always pull the plug out of the socket. Do not pull on the cable!
- Do not carry, pull or twist the device on the cable or the power supply unit.
- You must not continue to use the unit if the lead is damaged. For safety reasons, the power supply unit needs to be replaced.
- Ensure that the cable will not cause tripping. The cable must not be kinked, trapped or twisted.
Specific Groups of People
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the ap-pliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- Do not use this unit to supplement or replace medical treat-ment. Chronic complaints and symptoms may be made worse.
- Do not use the NM 865 massager, or only after consulting your doctor, if:
- you are pregnant,
- you have a cardiac pacemaker, artificial joints or electronic implants,
- you suffer from one or more of the following illnesses and complaints: Circulation disorders, varicose veins, open wounds, bruises, broken skin, inflammation of the veins.
- Do not use the appliance near your eyes or near any other sensi-tive areas.
- If you experience any pain or discomfort during the massage, stop immediately and consult your doctor.
- The surface of the appliance is hot. People who are insensitive to heat must be careful when using the appliance.
- Before using the massager, consult your doctor regarding any un-explained pain, if you are undergoing medical treatment or using medical equipment.
Before Using the Unit
- Check the power supply unit, cable and massager carefully for damage before each use. Do not attempt to use a defective unit.
- Do not use the appliance if it, or the power cord show signs of damage, if it is not in perfect working order, or if it has been dropped or become damp. In order to prevent hazards, always send the unit in to the service centre.
Operating the Unit
- The device is not to be used for commercial use or medi-cal purposes.
- If you have health concerns, consult your doctor before using the device.
- Only use the massager indoors.
- Do not use the massager in damp rooms (e.g. when bathing or showering).
- The device must only be used for its intended purpose as de-scribed in the instruction manual.
- Using the mat for any other purpose invalidates the warranty.
- Only use the appliance in the proper place, that is, around the neck and on the shoulders.
- Do not use the appliance while you are asleep or when you are lying in bed.
- Do not use the appliance before going to sleep. The neck mas-sage has a stimulating effect
- Never use the appliance while driving a vehicle or operating a machine.
- The maximum operating time for one session is 15 minutes. Prolonged use reduces the service life of the appliance.
- Very long periods of use can lead to overheating. Always allow the appliance to cool down before using it again.
- Never put the unit down next to an electric stove or other sourc-es of heat.
- Never leave the unit unattended if it is connected to the power supply.
- Do not allow the massage cushion to come into contact with pointed or sharp objects.
- Do not cover up the appliance when it is switched on. Never use it under blankets or cushions. There is a risk of fire, electric shock or injury.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- The unit is maintenance free. If a fault does occur, just check whether the mains power adapter is properly connected.
- You may only clean the device yourself. In case of malfunctions or damages do not repair it yourself as this leads to the automatic expiry of all guarantee rights. Ask your specialist dealer and only have repairs carried out by authorized service companies to avoid hazards.
- Do not immerse the device in water or other fluids.
- If, nonetheless, liquid should penetrate the device, unplug the mains cable immediately.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Do not wash! The textile cover cannot be removed!
Do not dry clean!

Items Supplied and Packaging
Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in
any way. In case of doubt, do not use it and contact your supplier or your
service centre.

The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required. If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your supplier without delay.
WARNING: Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of children! Risk of suffocation!
The NM 865 massager is intended for targeted treatment of the neck and
shoulder area. The pleasant vibrating massage has two levels of intensity. The
massage can be enhanced with heat treatment. The red light relieves tension in
the neck and shoulder muscles.
The appliance can also run on batteries so that you can use it anywhere away
from the mains.
CAUTION: Make sure that the maximum operating time of 15 minutes is not exceeded.
Using With the Power Supply Unit
- Insert the power supply unit plug into the connection 6 on the control unit.
- Plug in the power supply unit.
- Place the massager 1 around the neck so that it has sufficient hold on the shoulders. The velcro closure band can be used for a better fixation on the neck.
- A flexible wire is built into the cover of the appliance which allows you to adjust the shape of the appliance to your neck. Bend it into the required position.
- Press the MASSAGE button 5, to switch on the massage function. The appliance starts working straight away at high intensity. Press the MAS-SAGE button 5 twice to change to massage intensity to a lower level. Press the MASSAGE button 5 once again to switch the appliance off.
- Press the HEAT 4 button to switch on the heat function. The LED indi-cator lights up. The red light 3 creates a gentle, pleasant heat.
- To switch the heat function off, press the HEAT 4 button again.
- After 15 minutes of constant use the device will switch off automatically.
NOTE: The massage intensity declines when the heat function is switched on.

Using with Batteries
Changing the Batteries
Undo the zip on the back of the appliance to get into the battery compart-ment
2. Remove the lid of the battery compartment. Insert four batteries (1.5 V,
type AA LR 6).
Remember to insert the batteries as indicated in the diagram in the battery
compartment. Replace the battery compartment lid and do the zip up again
carefully.
WARNING – BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
- Do not disassemble batteries!
- Clean the battery and device contacts if necessary before put-ting in the batteries!
- Remove discharged batteries from the device immediately!
- Increased risk of leakage, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes! If battery acid comes in contact with any of this parts, rinse the affected area with copious amounts of fresh water and seek medical attention immediately!
- If a battery has been swallowed seek medical attention imme-diately!
- Replace all of the batteries simultaneously!
WARNING – BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
- Only replace with batteries of the same type, never use dif-ferent types of batteries together or used batteries with new ones!
- Insert the batteries correctly, observing the polarity!
- Keep the battery compartment well sealed!
- Remove the batteries from the device if it is not going to be used for an extended period!
- Keep batteries out of children’s reach!
- Do not attempt to recharge these batteries! There is a danger of explosion!
- Do not short circuit! There is a danger of explosion!
- Do not throw into a fire! There is a danger of explosion!
- Keep unused batteries in their packaging away from metal objects in order to prevent short circuiting!
- Do not throw used batteries into the household refuse; put them in a hazardous waste container or take them to a battery collection point, at the shop where they were purchased!

Miscellaneous
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Before cleaning the appliance, make sure that the appliance is switched off and the power supply unit is disconnected. Allow the unit to cool down.
- Clean the massager with a slightly damp sponge only. Never use brush-es, aggressive cleaning agents, petrol, thinners or alcohol. Rub the seat dry with a clean dry cloth.
- Never immerse the appliance in water to clean it and ensure water cannot get into the appliance.
- Wait until the device is completely dry before using it again.
- Undo any kinks in the cable.
- Take care when rolling up the mains lead to avoid damaging it.
- You should ideally store the device in its original packaging and keep it in a clean, dry place.
Disposal
This product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste.
All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices,
regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or
commer-cial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an
environmentally acceptable manner. Please remove the batteries before
disposing of the device / unit. Do not dispose of old batteries with your
household waste, but at a battery collection station at a recycling site or in
a shop.
Consult your local authority or your supplier for information about disposal.

Warranty
Warranty and Repair Terms
Please contact your supplier or the service centre in case of a claim under
the warranty. If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your
receipt and state what the defect is.
The following warranty terms apply:
- The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
- Defects in material or workmanship will be corrected free of charge within the warranty period.
- Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.
- The following is excluded under the warranty:
- All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non-observance of the user instructions.
- All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties.
- Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre.
- Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear.
- Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
