MAINTENANCE

WARNING
Use only the original manufacturer’s replacement parts, accessories, and attachments. Failure to do so can cause possible injury, poor performance and may void your warranty.

  • The cutting attachment must not rotate in idle mode.
If this requirement is not satisfied, the dutch has to be adjusted or the machine needs urgent maintenance by a qualified technician.

  • You may make adjustments and repairs described For other repairs have the unit serviced by an authorized service agent.

  • Consequences of improper maintenance may include excess carbon deposits resulting in loss of performance and discharge of black oily residue dripping from the silencer.

  • Make sure all guards, straps, deflectors, and handles are properly and securely attached to avoid the risk of personal injury.

CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND SILENCER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and amount of oil used, and/or your operating conditions, the exhaust port, and silencer may become blocked with carbon deposits. If you notice a power loss with your petrol-powered tool, a qualified service technician will need to remove these deposits to restore performance.
SPARK ARRESTOR
It is recommended to clean or replace the spark arrestor every 25 hours to ensure the proper performance of your product. Spark arrestors may be in different locations depending on the model purchased. Please contact your nearest service dealer for the location of the spark arrestor for your model.
CLEARING THE AIR FILTER SCREEN (Fig. 5)
For proper performance and long life, keep the air filter screen clean.

  • Ensure the unit is in the off position.
  • Remove the air filter cover.
  • Remove the air filter and clean it with warm soapy
  • Rinse, and let the air filter dry completely.
  • Work two drops of lubricant into the air filter.
  • Replace the air filter (fits only one way).
  • Replace the air filter cover.

FUEL CAP
WARNING
A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must be replaced immediately.
The fuel cap contains a non-serviceable filter and a check valve. A clogged fuel filter will cause poor engine performance. If performance improves when the fuel cap is loosened, the check valve may be faulty or the filter clogged. Replace fuel cap if required.
SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT (FIG. 6)
This engine uses a Champion RCJ-6Y or equivalent spark plug with a 0,53 mm electrode gap.
Use an exact replacement.
IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT
If the cutting attachment turns at idle, the idle speed screw needs adjusting on the engine, contact a service dealer for adjustment and discontinue use until the repair is made.
STORAGE (1 MONTH OR LONGER)

  • Drain all fuel from the tank into a container approved for fuel. Run the engine until it stops.
  • Clean all foreign material from the equipment. Store it in a well-ventilated place that is inaccessible to children. Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
  • Abide by all ISO and local regulations for the safe storage and handling of fuel. Excess fuel should be used up in other 2-stroke engine-powered equipment.

WARNING
Inspection after dropping or other impacts: Thoroughly inspect the product and identify any affections or damage with it. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If these solutions do not solve the problem, contact your authorized service dealer.

PROBLEM

| POSSIBLE CAUSE|

SOLUTION

---|---|---
The engine will not start.|

  1. The power switch is off.
  2. No spark.
  3. No fuel.
  4. The engine is flooded.
  5. Starter rope is now harder to pull than when new.
  6. Old fuel.

|

  1. Make sure Switch is in the ON or “I” position.
  2. The spark plug may be damaged, remove it and check for dirt and cracks. Replace with a new spark plug.
  3. Push the primer bulb until the bulb is full of fuel. If a bulb does not fill, the primary fuel delivery system is blocked. Contact a servicing dealer. If the primer bulb fills, the engine may be flooded, proceed to next item.
  4. Remove the spark plug, turn the unit so the spark plug hole is aimed at the ground. Set choke lever to positions and pull starter cord 10 to 15 times. This will clear excess fuel from the engine. Remove any fuel which splashed on the product. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Clean up any spilled fuel and move at least 9m away before restarting.
  5. Pull starter three times with choke lever at. If the engine does not start, set the choke lever to position and repeat the normal starting procedure. If the engine still fails to start, repeat the procedure with a new spark plug.
  6. Contact a servicing dealer.
  7. Only use fresh fuel mixed with recommended oil. Fuel over 30 days old may prevent the unit from starting.

The engine starts but will not idle long enough to engage the throttle| Temperature can affect engine idle time and rpm.| Flip choke lever to positions and pull the starter until the engine starts.
The engine does not stop
when the switch is turned off| Electrical connection is loose/ unplugged| Set the choke lever to stop the engine. Immediately stop using the product. Check the electrical connection on the bottom of the unit and make sure it is properly connected. Contact servicing dealer if the problem persists.
The engine starts but will not accelerate.| The engine requires approximately three minutes to warm up.| Allow the engine to completely warm up. If the engine does not accelerate after three minutes, contact a servicing dealer.
Engine starts but will only run at high speed at half choke.| The carburetor requires adjustment.| Contact a servicing dealer.
The engine does not reach full speed and emits excessive smoke.|

  1. Check the oil fuel mixture.
  2. The air filter is dirty.
  3. The spark arrestor screen is dirty.

|

  1. Use fresh fuel and the correct 2-stroke oil mix.
  2. Clean air filter. Refer to “Cleaning the air filter screen” earlier in this manual.
  3. Contact a servicing dealer.

Engine starts runs and accelerates but will not idle.| Idle speed screw on carburetor requires adjustment| Contact servicing dealer if the problem persists.
Oil drips from the silencer.|

  1. Operating unit at partial throttle.
  2. Check oil/fuel mixture.
  3. Air filter dirty.

|

  1. Operate unit at full throttle.
  2. Use fresh fuel and the correct synthetic 2-stroke oil mix.
  3. Clean per instruction in Maintenance Section.
