VLT® DeviceNet Converter MCA 194
Keep the functionality of the VLT® 5000 with the DeviceNet option installed without changing the PLC program.

Introduction

  • VLT® DeviceNet Converter MCA 194 emulates a VLT® 5000 on the Device-Net network. All VLT® 5000 commands from the PLC are translated in the MCA194 to VLT® AutomationDrive FC 302 commands. This eliminates the need to re-write the PLC program and change the confi duration.
  • As a result, the investment in the PLC is retained, and no expensive and time-consuming re-programming is required. The downtime is limited to the time it takes to exchange the VLT® 5000 for the FC 302 with the MCA194 DeviceNet Converter option installed.
  • For easy mechanical adaptation, accessory adaptor plates with VLT 5000 mounting holes ensure correct fi tting of the FC 302 in panels or on walls.

Easy and compatible

  • Emulates all VLT® 5000 I/O Instances 20/70, 100/150, 101/151 and 102/152
  • Explicit parameterization using VLT® 5000 parameter access is converted to FC 302 parameters.
  • Communication using DeviceNet Class ID 0x04 and Class ID 0x64-0xC7
  • VLT® 5000 optimized PLC program does not need to be changed when upgrading/retrofi thing
  • Spare parts stock can be reduced to FC302 parts only

devices worldwide
DeviceNet is one of the world’s leading device-level networks for industrial automation.

Features

Efficient

  • Reuses the VLT® 5000 EDS fi le
No need to change the PLC’s hardware configuration

  • Accepts the VLT® 5000 I/O Instances No need to rewrite the PLC program
Mounts in an FC302 No need for VLT 5000 and FC 302 spare parts

  • VLT® Motion Control Tool MCT10 Support via USB and RS485
Full access of FC 302 parameters, where the new features of the FC 302 are accessible (e.g. Logging, scope)

  • Same DeviceNet connector style
Installed bus connector can be reused or the new color-coded connector can be used.

Save installation time with adaptor plates

  • Reduce downtime and mounting labor costs when exchanging a VLT® 5000 with a VLT® AutomationDrive FC 302. Pre-drilled adaptor plates make it easy to mount a new FC 302 frequency converter in place of a VLT 5000.
  • Not only does this reduce installation costs, but it also eliminates the need for additional modifi cations to the cabinet or panel where the new drive is installed.
  • Owners can therefore exchange old drives with new drives in existing systems with ease. This is an advantage when a high degree of fl flexibility in upgrade strategies is required.
