GETTING STARTED

Overview
The Edge Controller configures and monitors the various components of the Encelium Edge standalone wireless lighting control system. For optimum performance, the Edge Controller may be installed onto a wall or ceiling surface. Installation into plenum-rated spaces is possible but NOT preferred.

EDGE CONTROLLER

Modular Installation
The Edge Controller must be connected to the supplied Encelium Edge Controller Power Supply Unit or an Ethernet PoE network switch using standard CAT-5 (or greater) Ethernet cabling. If a PoE network switch is not available, a PoE injector (active or passive) may be used. Ethernet PoE network switch or PoE injector connects to the PoE port pointed by POE-IN arrow.

  • The Edge Controller has been tested in accordance with UL2043 and is suitable to be used in plenum or “plenum rated” areas.
  • The Edge Controller may be installed into a drop-ceiling tile (preferred installation), directly onto a wall junction box, or onto a wall surface.

****Pay careful attention to the POE-IN and NC labels at the rear of the Edge Controller. The Ethernet cable from the Edge Controller Power Supply Unit or Ethernet PoE network switch or PoE injector connects to the PoE port pointed by the POE-IN arrow.

Ceiling Tile Installation

This is the preferred installation method for maximum antenna performance.

  1. Cut a hole in the ceiling using the supplied template (the cardboard cutout holding the ceiling mount bracket in place in the packaging).
  2. Assemble the Edge Controller and the ceiling mount bracket together. Push the ceiling mount bracket until the lock snaps into the groove.
  3. Push the assembled Edge Controller through the ceiling tile.
  4. Place the upper bracket onto the Edge Controller (above the ceiling tile from the plenum area) until it locks with the lower bracket.
  5. Connect the Ethernet cable to the PoE port using the POE-IN arrow point on the Edge Controller for alignment.

****GreenBus uses proprietary connectors and jacks for ease of installation only. GreenBus is a proprietary standard. Connect to Encelium X Lighting Control System only. Do not connect to other circuits.

Wall Junction Box Installation

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the PoE port using the POE-IN arrow point on the Edge Controller for alignment.
  2. Install the Edge Controller onto the box screws.

Wall Surface Installation

  1. Pre-drill two holes (3.28 inches or 83.3mm apart) on the wall using the supplied template.
  2. Install wall plugs and the supplied screws into the pre-drilled holes.
  3. Connect the Ethernet cable to the PoE port pointed by the POE-IN arrow on the Edge Controller.
  4. The Edge Controller must be mounted vertically.
