Safety instructions

General safety

WARNING! Failure to obey these warnings could result in death or serious injury.
Health hazard

  • This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the device.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • Blinds should be stowed before maneuvering to ensure no restriction of the driver vision.

Suffocation hazard

  • This device contains small parts. Keep it away from children.
  • The packaging includes plastic bags. Keep them away from children.

Strangulation hazard

  • Children can strangle if safety devices are not installed and correctly adjusted to keep chains out of reach of children.These devices must be securely fixed at the maximum distance from the control such that the chain loop will not become slack. The chain tidy must be fixed at least 1.5 m from the floor.

Risk of injury

  • The device must only be installed, removed or repaired by qualified or competent person using suitable fastening material.
  • Take reasonable precaution when installing the blind and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Only for boats and yachts: If the blind is in front of an open window, then the blind should be stowed when driving at more than 10 knots or in a sea state of more than moderate, as this can cause damage to the blind. Parts that come loose may injure persons in the vicinity.

NOTICE!
Damage hazard

  • Blinds should be stowed completely when boat or vehicle is under way.
  • Use screws and plugs suitable for the wall construction to fix the blind.
  • Ensure that you do not drill through the wall.
  • Ensure that your hands are clean or wear suitable gloves to avoid marking the fabric.

Intended use

The Rollerblind Chain is suitable for installation in yachts, boats, motor homes, caravans or homes. The design and size of the blind are custom-made. The fabric of the blinds is cut to the customer`s specifications.
The blinds are designed for interior use only and should not be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms or other location with a high level of humidity.
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product. Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:

  • Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
  • Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
  • Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
  • Use for purposes other than those described in this manual

Dometic reserves the right to change product appearance and product specifications.

Technical description

The blinds are available in three mounting types in different sizes:

  • BR: Bracket mounted (available in sizes BR38 and BR46)
  • MP: Mounting profile mounted (available in sizes MP38 and MP46)
  • CA: Cassette mounted (available in sizes C1, C2 and C3)

There are different types of fabric restraints:

  • FH: Free hanging
  • GW: Guide wired (available as Dome ( A ), Flush Mount ( B ) and Extended ( C ), see GW versions in fig. **1**)

The number on the product label indicating the blind type is located:

  • For BR versions on the tube under the fabric
  • For MP versions on the back of the mounting profile

Installation

NOTICE! Risk of damage
Consider using two people to install the product if the blind is large or the installation location is difficult to reach alone.

Fitting of the chain tidy

WARNING! Suffocation hazard
The chain must be fixed to the wall with the chain tidy in order to provide an important safety devices to reduce the possibility of strangulation and entanglement accidents.

Removing the blinds

➤ Proceed as shown to remove the blinds: ­

Fitting the guide wire versions

➤ Proceed as shown: ­

Fix the hold down according the chosen option: ­

  • Dome mounted hold down ( A) (BR leaflet: fig. 10, MP leaflet: fig. 9, CA leaflet: fig. **9**) ­
  • Flush mounted hold down (B) (BR leaflet: fig. a, MP leaflet: fig. 11, CA leaflet: fig. 10) ­
  • Extended guide wire hold down (C) (BR leaflet: fig. 12, MP leaflet: fig. **11**, CA leaflet: fig. **11**)

Operation

Deploying the blind
➤ Pull the chain to deploy the blind.

Stowing the blind
➤ Pull the chain to stow the blind.

Cleaning and maintenance

NOTICE! Risk of damage

  • Do not grease, oil or lubricate the blind. Lubricants will damage the fabric.
  • Be careful not to crease the fabric when using the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
  • Rubbing can damage the fabrics. · Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas than the surrounding.
  • Do not soak the blinds.
  • The manufacturer recommends testing any cleaning agents on a hidden area of the blind first.

NOTE Cleaning by professional cleaning personnel
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for improper cleaning methods or agents used by professional cleaning personnel. In this case, the responsibility lies with the cleaning company.

Removing dust

➤ Dust the blind regularly with a dust rag, dust glove or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Blow excess dust off of your fabric using a can of compressed air or a hair dryer on a cool setting.
➤ Fully deploy the blind to clean the fabric.
➤ Fully stow the blind to clean around side tracks or guide wires.

Spot cleaning
➤ Spot-clean with a soft white cloth, moistened with warm water. Add a mild detergent if needed (non-abrasive and with no additives).
➤ Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Always leave the blind deployed to dry thoroughly.

Cleaning windows
➤ Always ensure the blinds are fully stowed before cleaning windows. This will prevent spoiling the blind fabric by splatter or sprays of water or detergent.

Troubleshooting

Fault Solution
Guide wire tension too low See chapter “Fitting the guide wire versions” on

page 7.
Guide wire too short| Order replacement guide wire, see spares leaflet at dometic.com.
Guide wire broken| Order replacement guide wire, see spares leaflet at dometic.com.
Guide wire blind not running smoothly| Check restraint position and recess dimensions.
Fabric rolls off sides of ends of roller| Check if the guide wires are perpendicular to the roller and that the roller is horizontal.

Warranty

The statutory warranty period applies. If the product is defective, please contact the manufacturer’s branch in your country or your retailer. You can find your authorised customer service centre at dometic.com.
For repair and warranty processing, please include the following information when you send in the product:

  • The number on the product label located for BR versions on the tube under the fabric, for MP versions on the back of the mounting profile and for CA versions on the back of the cassette.
  • A reason for the claim or description of the fault.
    If it is not possible to return the product, please provide photographs or video identifying the defect.

Disposal

➤ Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins wherever possible.

If you wish to finally dispose of the product, ask your local recycling centre or specialist dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with the applicable disposal regulations.
