[How To] Prevent Background Noise and Improve Audio Quality

This guide shows adjustable methods to improve the audio quality under different situations such as when having a conference call, recording audio content for a creator work…etc.
Refer to the below adjustment options and find the combination that’s best fits the situation.

Before starting

  • Refer to FAQ_3640 and make sure the Realtek audio driver, Nahimic driver, and Nahimic 3 audio software are all up-to-date.
  • Move any devices which can produce/receive signals away from the notebook microphone to avoid any interference sound. (e.g. mobile phone, speaker…)

Avoid Extreme Sound Volume from the Microphone by adjusting

Microphone Volume and Microphone Boost

  1. Right click on the speaker icon located at the lower right corner, and select “Sound”.
  2. In the “Recording” tab, double click on the Microphone to enter the properties window.
  3. Adjust the Microphone volume and the Microphone boost until your voice is clear; avoid the sharp or distorted voice sound.

Enable Enhance Voice Recognition from Realtek Audio Console

  1. Type “Realtek Audio Console” under the Windows search box and launch
  2. Select “Microphone” → “Microphone Effects” on the left menu
  3. Check the “Enhance Voice Recognition” checkbox

Enable Lateral Sound Cancellation from Nahimic

  1. Launch the software by entering “Nahimic” in the Windows search box.
  2. Select “Microphone”.
  3. Click the switch to enable “LATERAL SOUND CANCELLATION”

Turn on Noise Cancellation in MSI Dragon Center, MSI Creator Center, or MSI Center for Business & Productivity

  1. Left-click on the Windows icon to launch the application
  2. Select “Home” → “Noise Cancellation”
  3. Enable “Speaker Noise Cancellation” and “Microphone Noise Cancellation”

Note: For communication software, manually set the Speaker and Microphone device to “Microphone (MSI Sound Tune)” in order to apply the noise cancellation during calls.
