[How To] Prevent Background Noise and Improve Audio Quality
This guide shows adjustable methods to improve the audio quality under
different situations such as when having a conference call, recording audio
content for a creator work…etc.
Refer to the below adjustment options and find the combination that’s best
fits the situation.
Before starting
- Refer to FAQ_3640 and make sure the Realtek audio driver, Nahimic driver, and Nahimic 3 audio software are all up-to-date.
- Move any devices which can produce/receive signals away from the notebook microphone to avoid any interference sound. (e.g. mobile phone, speaker…)
Avoid Extreme Sound Volume from the Microphone by adjusting
Microphone Volume and Microphone Boost
- Right click on the speaker icon located at the lower right corner, and select “Sound”.
- In the “Recording” tab, double click on the Microphone to enter the properties window.
- Adjust the Microphone volume and the Microphone boost until your voice is clear; avoid the sharp or distorted voice sound.
Enable Enhance Voice Recognition from Realtek Audio Console
- Type “Realtek Audio Console” under the Windows search box and launch
- Select “Microphone” → “Microphone Effects” on the left menu
- Check the “Enhance Voice Recognition” checkbox
Enable Lateral Sound Cancellation from Nahimic
- Launch the software by entering “Nahimic” in the Windows search box.
- Select “Microphone”.
- Click the switch to enable “LATERAL SOUND CANCELLATION”
Turn on Noise Cancellation in MSI Dragon Center, MSI Creator Center, or MSI Center for Business & Productivity
- Left-click on the Windows icon to launch the application
- Select “Home” → “Noise Cancellation”
- Enable “Speaker Noise Cancellation” and “Microphone Noise Cancellation”
Note: For communication software, manually set the Speaker and Microphone device to “Microphone (MSI Sound Tune)” in order to apply the noise cancellation during calls.
