Operation

Before first Use

Unpack the insect killer and check the unit for any damage in transit.
Dispose of packaging materials or store it out of reach of children. Plastic bags etc. may become a deadly toy for children.

Intended Use

The insect killer is used to attract flying insects such as flies, moths and mosquitoes to a UV light and then electrocute them with a high-voltage grid.
UV-rays attract insects even in the winter. The insect killer can be operated 24 hours a day throughout the year.
Only use the insect killer in closed rooms. The unit is not designed to be used in barns or similar structures.

To protect endangered insect species this insect killer may only be used indoors.
Insect killers are only intended for the protection from insects and are not suited for household illumination.

Operation

  1. Plug the power plug into a grounded socket.

  2. Switch on the insect killer by pressing the ON/OFF switch (1). The unit is now ready for use.
Insects which come in contact with the high-voltage grid will fall into the collection tray (3).
For safe use, the outer housing prevents the operator not to touch the high- voltage grid accidentally.

  3. Grasp the collection tray on the right and left side and pull it forward in order to empty it.

  4. After cleaning, slide the collection tray back in place.

Mounting Place

The unit can be mounted by hanging from the ceiling, hanging on the wall or standing upright.
If the room has approx. 150 m2, the insect killer can be hung in the center of the room, to provide the best attraction of the insects by the UV-rays. If the room is smaller, the insect killer can be hung on a wall or placed standing in a corner. Always keep the unit out of reach of children and pets! Do not hang the insect killer close to doors or windows, since sunlight weakens the UV- rays. Artificial light has no adverse effect on the insect killer.

Changing the Fluorescent Tubes

Unplug the power plug before opening the unit.
Wait some minutes until the remaining current will disappear in the capacitor. Or touch the high-voltage grid with the tip of a screwdriver.

  1. Unscrew both screws at the rear side of the housing at the top edge and push the screen slightly downward. The screen cannot be tilted all the way.

  2. Turn the UV tubes (2) until the contacts are visible in the opening of the fluorescent tube holders (4).

  3. Pull out the fluorescent tubes and insert new ones of the same type and dimensions into the holders (4).

  4. Turn the fluorescent tubes ½ turn.
Hint: If the fluorescent tubes are not correctly engaged, the unit will not work.

  5. Re-mount the high-voltage grid.

Cleaning and Storing

  • Unplug from power mains before cleaning the unit.
  • Only use a dry or a damp cloth for cleaning.
  • Regular cleaning will promote efficient operation.
  • Dirt can affect the intensity and the effectiveness of the insect killer.
  • The intensity of the light and the effectiveness of the insect killer will diminish after years of operation.
  • Do not immerse the unit into liquids. Do not allow water to enter the interior of the unit.
  • Do not use aggressive chemicals or abrasives in order not to damage the surfaces.
  • Do not use wire brushes or other abrasive objects for cleaning the unit.
