1. INTRODUCTION
This manual contains all the necessary information needed to perform the installation and activation of the device.
2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 Important information to note
- The following installation procedure must be performed with the engine switched OFF and cold.
- Position the vehicle in an open area where the satellite signals can be correctly received for geolocation.
- The product must never be opened: it is not permitted to modify the device.
- The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused to things and/or persons, due to incorrect installation of the device.
- If there are any installation issues or support is needed, please contact the Vodafone Automotive Customer Care (01282 473 767).
Alternative to the stand-alone installations or for those carried out by a trusted professional installer, it is possible to request the support from approved Vodafone Automotive centres, which you can be contacted by the Customer Care of Vodafone Automotive
2.2 Kit Contents
2.3 Required tools (not supplied)
Wrench for nuts:
Used to loosen and tighten the nuts of the battery clamps.
The measurement varies depending on the vehicle type.
Plastic lever tool:
Used for the removal of the product.
2.4 Installation procedure
The following installation procedure must be performed with the engine
switched OFF and cold.
For more information, please see the installation images provided in this
brochure.
a. Locate the position of the vehicle battery.
This will depend on the vehicle and information on this can usually be found
in the vehicle manufacturer’s on-board manual (see IMG1). Important: if it is
impossible to install the product on the battery due to lack of space or
because it is not secure due to possible high levels of movement/vibration,
choose an equivalent and appropriate position with the vehicle chassis.
b. Remove the battery protective cover (if present) and carefully clean the
surface with isopropyl alcohol solution on which the device will be fi xed
with the wipes supplied (see IMG2). Important: do not use the wipe as a
cleanser for face and hands.
c. Remove the double-sided adhesive fi lm on the back of the device. Fix the
device to the battery making sure that it is in a horizontal position (see
IMG3). Important: the arrow on the product must point in the direction of
forward travel of the vehicle.
d. Connect the cable with the BLACK end to the negative (-) terminal of the
battery and the cable with the RED end to the positive (+) terminal of the
battery (see IMG4). Loosen the battery nuts to allow the lugs to be secured:
do not remove the clamps from the battery. If the LED of the product lights
up, the installation has been carried out correctly. Important: when loosening
terminal nuts of the battery with the wrench, never touch the two battery
poles at the same time with a metal tool!
e. VERIFY THAT THE LED ON THE DEVICE, FLASHES AFTER THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
Otherwise check the connections and/or contact Customer Care (01282 473 767)
(see IMG4).
f. After the product contract has been activated, an SMS and / or eMail will
confi rm that the activation has been completed successfully and after a few
minutes it will be possible to access the App (see IMG5). If you have not
received an activation message within 24 hours of installing the device, check
that the vehicle is in an open area, check the connections to the battery and
try the installation procedure again. If the procedure fails again, contact
the Customer Care (01282 473 767).
2.5 Maintenance mode
In case of maintenance work is needed on the vehicle that requires the removal
of the battery or the device to be dissembles, please contact
Customer Care (01282 473 767). Once completed, reconnect the device to the
battery and follow the reactivation procedures indicated by the Customer care,
to make the service active again (manageable through the APP, suspend the
service and allow interventions such as battery change or disconnection).
2.6 Product removal
Put the product in maintenance and then disconnect the electrical connections
from the battery; use a plastic lever tool between the device and the battery
to remove the adhesive (see IMG6).
Important: do not manually force device removal without a plastic lever tool.
To reinstall the product, carefully clean the surface area using isopropyl
alcohol and use the supplied double-sided adhesive to reattach it. If you have
diffi culties when removing the device, you can request support from Approved
Vodafone Automotive centres which can be contacted through the
Customer Care of Vodafone Automotive (01282 473 767).
3 DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE PRODUCTS AND BATTERIES
This symbol indicates that the product complies with the European Directive
2012/19/EU.
This symbol indicates that the product contains an integrated battery which is subject to the European Directive 2006/66/EU and cannot be disposed of in normal household waste. It is advisable to take the appliance to a collection point or a service centre where a technician can remove the battery properly. Please check and abide by any regulations for disposing of electrical / electronic products in your local area to prevent any impact to the environment and possible damage to health.
4 DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY
Vodafone Automotive SpA declares that the type BFD10 model 2515 device
complies with the essential requirements and other provisions of
Directive 2014/53 / EU. You can fi nd the complete declaration at
automotive.vodafone.com (Download section).
The device uses the following radio parameters:
GSM: 33 dBm 850/900 MHz; 30 dBm 1800/1900 MHz;
GNSS: L1 band receiver;
GPS: 1575.42 MHz;
GLONASS: 1597.5-1605.8 MHz.
In order to reduce human exposure to electromagnetic fi elds, the distance
between the installed device and the occupants of the vehicle must be greater
than 0.2 m.
