Safety Notes
Please note the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury:
- The set is not a toy. Do not allow children to splay with the article.
- This manual belongs to the product. It contains important notes on operating the unit. Please pass it on along with the unit if it is handed over to a third party!
- Dispose of the packaging materials carefully. Small parts (riser pipe and sprinkler) can be swallowed. And plastic bags may become a deadly toy for children.
- Treat the solar module as a glass product. Do not walk on it.
- Do not continue to use the unit if the pump or the solar module becomes damaged. Repair work must be done by a qualified service technician.
- Install the cable with care and make sure the cable cannot become a tripping hazard.
- Do not disassemble the unit or attempt to repair it yourself. It does not contain parts serviceable by you. In the case of questions or problems, turn to our customer support.
Operation
Before first Use
Dispose of packaging material or store it in a safe place. There is risk of suffocation for small children!
Assembly
- Set up the steel frame (1) in the desired place on an even, solid surface. Please keep in mind that some water may splash over the rim of a bowl, do not set up the cas-cade fountain on a surface which may be damaged by water.
- Place the bowls on the frame. Place the bowls in such a way that the spouts empty into the next lower bowls.
- Lead the water hose (4) on the terracotta jug from below. Lead the water hose if desired through the small wire rings on the steel frame (see red rings on thepicture).
- Set the lower end of the water hose onto the exhaust pipe of the water pump and place the pump in the large terracotta bowl. The pump can be fixed in place with the suction cups.
- Lead the cable properly and make sure it does not become a tripping hazard.
- Fill the large bowl with water. Do not use other liquids than water and do not allow the pump to run dry. Do not put fish, small animals or plants into the bowls.
- Use the ground stake with the support (7) in order to fix it in the ground. Fix the support at the rear side on the solar module.
- Insert the ground stake vertically in the ground. Do not beat with a hammer or similar on the ground stake.
- Connect the solar module with the pump. Direct the solar module to the south. Direct sunlight of at least 8 hours is perfect for operation.
- After the pump has been set up it may take some time until the water has passed through the hose and appears in the jug. To speed up the process, some water can be filled into the jug in order to remove the existing air in the hose.
Special Accessory
The special accessories (different sprinklers (a), nozzle (b), cup piece (c),
rise pipe (4x d), rise pipe adaptor (e) that are part of the solar pump will
not be used in combination with this cascade fountain. The accessories can
only be used if you intend to operate the solar pump outside the cascade
fountain as garden pond fountain for example.
- For mounting the fountain use one or all rise pipes (d) and the cup piece (c). Mount the rise pipe adaptor on the bottom part of the rise pipe.
- The set includes different sprinklers (a) and a nozzle (b) which can be inserted into the cup piece (c). The nozzle can be inserted directly on the rise pipe.
- Place the already assembled rise pipe to the pump. According to the attached sprinkler you will get different water jet images.
Maintenance and Cleaning of the Pump
For optimum performance of the pump and depending on the water contamination and calcification, you have to wash the pump occasionally with warm water.
- Disconnect the pump from the pipe.
- Open the case of the pump by pulling the cover.
- Take off the filter and wash thoroughly.
- Clean all parts thoroughly and assemble the pump in reverse order. Now the pump is ready for use again.
Using the cascade fountain in closed rooms
In case you want to use the solar cascade fountain in rooms with no direct
sunlight, we recommend operating the pump by means of a universal immersion
pump (Westfalia Art. No. 13 90 48). This pump can be powered by a regular wall
power supply (6 – 12 V , 100 mA).
Troubleshooting
If no water is pumped after several sunny days with direct sunlight, please
check the following possible causes:
- The pump is clogged,
- The solar module is dirty.
Cleaning the Solar Module and the Bowls
-
Clean the solar module with a dry or lightly moistened cloth only. Treat the solar module as glass product. Do not immerse the solar module in liquids.
Clean the bowls with water and if desired with less detergent. -
In order not to damage the surfaces, do not use aggressive chemicals or abrasives for cleaning all products.
Storing
During winter time remove the pump out of the water and store it at a warm
place. The solar module can remain outside.
The bowls are frost resistant, but we still recommend emptying the fountain
during winter time and storing it in a dry place without water.
