Article No. 49 86 59
Dear Customers
With your new sharpener, you will be able to sharpen all kinds of knives and
blades you use in your garden.
Particularly for grass cutters, it is often a problem to decide if a new knife
is necessary or not.
With this sharpener, however, you can ensure an always perfectly sharpened
blade.
Before Grinding
Before you start working with the grinder, please follow these precautions:
- Check for a tight fit of the screw (2) on the grinding stone and of the locking ring (1). If the locking ring does not fit tightly to the plastic ring (4), press down the locking ring manually.
- Ensure your grass cutter is off before doing any grinding work Electric Grasscutter: Pull the plug. Grasscutter with combustion engine: pull the cable of the sparking plug and make sure no fuel can leak when the machine is tilted to the side.
- Use a clamp to fix the blade or knife. For the grass cutter, use a rope to fix the machine (5).
- Wear safety goggles during grinding work.
Grinding
Fix the grinding stone a drilling machine or cordless drill.
Start grinding by removing dents and burrs with the flat side (3) of the
grinding stone.
Sharpen the blade with the conical side of the grinding stone (6).
Move the grinding stone on the edge of the blade from the inner to the outer
area. Do not press the grinding stone. Lift up the grinding stone when
reaching the tip of the blade.
Follow the original shape of the knife’s edge. Adjust the position of the
grinding stone accordingly (7).
For grass cutters, make sure that on both blades about the same amount of
material is ground off to ensure the balance during rotation.
