App Installation
Search for”Xsmartview”in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or scan the
QR code below to download the App.
Note: For the best experience, please update the App to the latest
version.
Before Connecting the Doorbell
Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi before connecting it to the doorbell.
Turning the Doorbell On
If your home is equipped with an AC 8-24 V doorbell transformer, you may use
it to power the doorbell. Or you may use the USB Type-C cable for power
supply. For your convenience, we recommend using a USB power supply for Wi-Fi
connection and device set-up in this step. The doorbell will automatically
turn on, and the LED indicator will turn red, followed by a “Hello” prompt.
The LED indicator will then flash blue with a “Waiting for Wi-Fi
configuration” prompt. The doorbell is now ready for configuration between the
router and smartphone App.
DO NOT connect the doorbell to both on AC and Type-C power supply at the
same time.
Note: If you didn’t hear a voice prompt, press and hold the RESET button
on the back for about 5 seconds to reset to factory settings.
Connecting
Note: This doorbell supports dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi connections, so choose whichever has a stronger signal (e.g., choose 55/0: XXXXX_2.4G or XXXXX_SG).
- Open the Xsmartview App and sign up for an Xsmartview account, or sign in if you already have one.
- Tap the”+” icon in the middle or upper right corner of your screen to launch the”Add Device” page, then choose”Scan the QR code”to scan the QR code on the product label, located on the back of the doorbell.
- In “Add Device;’ select the checkbox and select”Next:’ Confirm that the device is flashing blue, then tap “Next:’ Under”Wi-Fi connection;’ enter your Wi-Fi password and select “Confirm:’
- Use the doorbell camera to scan the QR code on your smartphone until you hear “Wi-Fi connecting:’ After the prompt, tick the checkbox and select”Next:’You should be able to complete this configuration within a few seconds. Note: Please adjust the QR code or the doorbell camera to the appropriate angle and distance if you do not hear the “Wi-Fi connecting” prompt (do not hold your phone too close to the camera).
- Wait for a few seconds until you hear “Wireless Connection Succeeded:’ At this point, your camera has successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network. Choose a name for the doorbell camera from the names provided, or enter a new one. Then, select”Save”to move on to the next step. Note: If the doorbell fails to connect, please reset your doorbell and try again following the above instructions.
- After saving the doorbell camera name, a video will play explaining the different chimes with audio instructions. After watching the video, select”Confirm”to move on, then select”Select Chime Type:’The video will then play again. Select your chime type and tap”Confirm:’ A video instruction will play in accordance with the chime type you selected. Note: Please confirm the chime type of your existing device (if available). The transmitter and chime can be damaged if the wrong chime type is chosen. A mechanical chime generally refers to the type of chime that creates its sound by using a physical bell and hammer, and makes a traditional “ding-dong” sound. A digital chime plays pre-recorded digital tones through an electronic speaker, and often has a selection of different tones you can choose from.
- Tap the” [B “icon. Enter a doorbell camera username and password when prompted. You can now see the real-time camera video and are ready to install the doorbell.
Device Installation
Note:
- Make sure you have the Xsmartview App downloaded and have added the doorbell following the instructions above BEFORE proceeding to hardware installation.
- If you are powering the doorbell with an AC connection, ensure an AC 8-24 Vadapter is used, with the minimum power requirement being 8 VA.
- If you are powering the doorbell with a DC connection, ensure a DC 7 2-30 V adapter is used, with the minimum power requirement being 6 W.
- If a Type-C port is used to power the doorbell, ensure that a DC 5 V/7 A adapter is used, with the minimum power requirement being 5 W.
- Before wiring any electrical devices, ensure that the master circuit breaker is turned off at the circuit panel. Test this by turning on/off a light. Consult with a qualified electrician if necessary.
- If you have an existing chime (either mechanical or digital) and you intend on keeping it, please install the Power Kit in parallel to the doorbell. A power kit is usually used to avoid abnormal chime ringing after replacing the doorbell with the video doorbell.
STEP 1
If you have an existing doorbell installed, ring it to ensure that everything
is functioning properly.
STEP 2
Turn off the master circuit breaker to your home. Verify that it is turned
off by turning a light on/off.
STEP 3
Have the provided screwdriver ready.
Remove the cover of your existing chime, then loosen the 2 wiring screws using the screwdriver. Connect the 2 fork-shaped ends of the Power Kit to the 2 wiring screws of the chime. Then, remove the tape cover on the back of the Power Kit and attach it to the chime. Put the chime cover back on.
STEP 4
Remove the existing doorbell device with the Phillips-head side of the
screwdriver, then carefully pull out the 2 wires. Straighten the wire ends if
needed.
STEP 5
Use the Drill Hole Positioning Template to determine the hole positions.
Please ensure the template is placed at least 59″ (1.5 m) above the ground to
ensure proper camera positioning. Drill the two holes (a PH2 drill bit should
be used).
STEP 6
Insert the 2 wall anchors into the drilled holes if the doorbell is to be
installed in a material such as stucco, brick, or concrete. The wall anchors
are not necessary if the doorbell is installed on a wooden doorframe.
STEP 7
The 5vertical incline angle bracket or the 15 horizontal incline angle
bracket can be used as a supplementary mounting bracket if you wish to adjust
the doorbell camera’s field of view, depending on the structure of your house.
STEP 8
Feed the 2 existing doorbell wires through the central round hole of the
bracket before mounting.
If the angle bracket is not needed, simply fix the mounting bracket onto the
drilled holes with the 2 shorter screws. Please keep the arrow mark upward and
the bubble level horizontal; tighten the screws.
If the structure of your house requires an angle bracket to allow a better
field of view for the camera, combine the suitable angle bracket with the
mounting bracket, then fix them both onto the wall with suitable screws.
Push the doorbell onto the mounting bracket, then push down until you hear a
“click” sound. You can use the thicker mounting bracket for more wire space if
needed (install following the same process as mentioned above).
Note: Tools and components needed for this process may include the Mounting Bracket/Screw Pack/the 5° Vertical Incline Angle Bracket (optiona/)/the 15° Horizontal Incline Angle Bracket (optiona/)/the Thick Mounting Bracket (optional)lthe Screwdriver with Double-Ended Bit.
STEP 9
Loosen the 2 wiring screws on the back of the doorbell, connect them
directly to the chime wires, and then tighten the screws.
Note: The 2 wires can be connected to either wiring screw, and just make
sure that the 2 wires DO NOT touch each other after connecting with the wiring
screws to avoid any short circuiting.
If the existing wires are not long enough, connect them with extension wires by twisting their ends together and then capping with wire nuts by twisting clockwise. If there is not enough space for the wire nuts, use wiring tape instead. Tools and components needed for this process include Extension Wires/Wire Nuts (Optional)/the Video Doorbell/the Screwdriver with Double- Ended Bit/Wiring Tape (optional).
STEP 10
Feed the wiring into the hole in the wall and hook the doorbell onto the
mounting bracket. Push the doorbell down until you hear a “click” sound.
STEP 11
Turn on the master circuit breaker.
STEP 12
Ring the doorbell to see if the installation was successful. Verify that
the wires are secured if the doorbell does not ring. Then, open the Xsmartview
App to view the real-time video.
If the App does not display a live video feed, please remove the doorbell from the App and the mounting bracket, reset the doorbell, and add it to the App again.
STEP 13
Screw the anti-theft screws into the bottom of the doorbell with the Torx-
head side of the screwdriver to prevent theft.
