INTRODUCTION
Overview
If you have questions about the operating systems or programs then please consult the appropriate manuals. A few notes and warnings in bold are used throughout this guide that you should be aware of in order to complete certain tasks safely and completely.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Precautions
Follow this precautions and instructions:
Do not place the notebook underneath heavy loads or in an unstable position.
Do not use or expose the notebook around magnetic fields as magnetic
interference may affect the performance of the notebook.
Do not expose the notebook to high levels of direct sunlight, high-humidity or
wet conditions.
Do not block the air vents to the notebook or impede the airflow in any way.
Do NOT expose to or use the notebook near .S liquid, raining area, or
moisture. Do NOT use the modem during electrical

Maintenance
Turn OFF and disconnect all external peripherals to prevent damage to the connectors. To prevent damage to the product during transport, please turn off the notebook.
For safety and convenience when traveling, please follow these instructions:
- Backup all needed files on your hard disk before traveling.
- Recharge your battery overnight to ensure full battery power before you leave.
- Do not forget to bring along the AC adapter.
- Check the voltage rating and the outlet type of your destination. If the power cord of the adapter is different, then you need to purchase a suitable one.
- Carry your notebook in its carrying case or in a briefcase. Never check-in the notebook as a luggage.
- Protect your notebook from dirt, water, shock, and scratches.
IMPORTANT
Do not pick up the notebook by its display/panel
Follow this step to prolong your battery life:
- Do not try to disassemble, crush, puncture and drop your notebook.
- Recharge batteries only as described in this manual and only in ventilated areas. Never use an external charger other than the one supplied with your notebook.
- Do not leave your notebook in hot locations, it can make the battery broken.
- Do not keep a notebook more than 2 months without recharge the batteries, or recharge a battery in a long time because it can damage the battery.
You can save your hard disk life with this steps
- Always back up your data files from your hard disk.
- Install the virus detecting program to monitor virus that could tamper your files.
- Use scandisk once in a while to correct any errors found in the directory and your files.
- Do not shift the notebook suddenly while the hard disk is being accessed, especially do not jar the hard disk as this may cause a hard disk crash.
- Use hard disk maintenance programs like Disk Defragmenter of Windows®. It will reorganize your hard disk at once. 6. Install a system password in your notebook so unauthorized users won’t be able to use the hard disk.
Use a soft lint-free cloth to clean the LCD and keyboard. Never use alcohol and other kinds of liquid to clean your notebook.
GETTING STARTED
Your notebook PC comes with a universal AC-DC adapter. That means you may connect the power cord to any 220V-240V outlets without setting switches or using power converters.
IMPORTANT
Using the wrong AC power could damage your notebook. Never pull directly on
the power cable to unplug it. Hold the power plug when removing the cable from
outlet.
Turning your notebook on and off
To turn on your notebook, press and release the power button. To turn off, use
the Windows shutdown command, Click on Start menu and click Shutdown. You can
also put the computer in sleep mode.
IMPORTANT
To avoid data loss, never turn off the notebook while a drive is in use.
NOTE
When turning on the notebook for the first time, do not turn it off until the
operating system has loaded completely.
- If system errors occured, you can press ctrl+alt+del at the same time to enter the End Task menu or you can press power button for 8 seconds to turn the notebook off. Selecting a place to work Place the notebook in flat and wide surface to provide adequate ventilation and prevent overheating.
Protect your notebook from
• Equipment that generates a strong electromagnetic field, such as stereo
speakers.
• Dust, humid place, and direct sunlight.

To reduce strain and stress injuries do this steps:
- Avoid placing your notebook in front of a bright light that could reflect directly to your eyes.
- Place the notebook straight with a comfortable distance from your body
- Adjust your chair comfortably.
- Keep your fore-arms, wrists, and hands in a relax position.
LEARNING THE BASICS
Using keyboard Your notebook is equipped with a standard keyboard, there are a number of extra features and function controls on the built-in keyboard including Windows® system hot keys.
Function keys
There are 12 function keys used in combination with the Fn key, function keys
marked with icons execute specific functions.
Ctrl, Fn, Alt keys: Do different things depending on the program you are
using.
Character keys
Have the same function as notebook display, except Caps Lock that can
change the letter keys to upper case. Caps Lock LED on the keyboard indicator
panel illuminates when you press the Caps Lock.
Numeric keys
To activate press Fn+Num Lock simultaneously.
Card reader
The card reader alows you to use some of the latest digital storage cards.
Push the card into the slot and it will appear as a removable device, and can
be accessed in the same way as your hard disk. Before use it, make sure you
install the card reader driver.
NOTE
Some card reader need compatible adapter to be used with the instated
operating system. MOW aPPearenCe Beside the built-in LCD , you can use an
external monitor to display your video. press Fn + display toggle function to
activate.
Setting up communications
To connect to the internet, use an online service with ADSL, 3G or telephone. To access a network:
- At the office, you need to connect a network cable with an RJ-45 connector to the LAN port.
- You can also access a network with wireless connection (Wi-Fi).
- When you are at home or traveling, you can use a 3GICDMA modem or ADSL modem.
You can connect the notebook to a modem through USB or LAN depend on an available port.
BATTERY
The notebook uses battery that provides power when you are away from an AC
power source. Do not leave your notebook connected to the mains and unused for
more than a few hours.
Battery life
Battery life may be shortened through improper maintenance. To optimize the
life and improve its performance, fully discharge and recharge the battery at
least once every 30 days.
Discharging the battery completely
Use the notebook with battery power until it shuts down automatically due to a
low battery. Disable the Power Options function in the control panel,
especially any Alarms (uncheck the tick boxes) and Schemes (change at the
settings to Never). When the battery nearly runs out, save and close any
critical files immediately.
Fully charging the battery
When charging the battery, don’t stop until the LED charging indicator off.
BIOS CONFIGURATION
You may need to run the BIOS Setup when:
- An error message appears on the screen during the system booting up and is requested to run SETUP.
- You want to change the default settings for customized features.
- You want to reload the default BIOS settings.
How to run BIOS setup
To run the BIOS Setup Utility, turn on the notebook and press the [Dell] or
[F2] key during the POST procedure.
If the message disappears before you respond and you still wish to enter
Setup, either restart the system by turning it OFF and ON, or simultaneously
pressing [Ctrl]+[Alt].[Del] keys to restart
NOTE
- Be noted that the screen snaps and setting options in this chapter are for your references only. The actual setting screens and options on your notebook may be different because of BIOS update.
- The drivers. BIOS and utilities bundled in the support DVD may vary by models and are subject to change without notice.
IMPORTANT
Do not make any changes unless you are sure of what you are doing. Many of the
settings are required by system, and changing them could cause it to become
unstable or worse.
Info menu
The Info menu contains the basic information of the system and shows some
system information, such as the BIOS version, CPU type and speed, and the
system memory.
Main menu
The Main menu contains the basic configuration settings of the system. Such
as: System Time & Date -The hour is displayed in 24-hour format. The values
set in these two fields take effect immediately.
Total Memory
This field shows the memory size of system total memory.
Advanced menu
The Advanced menu contains advanced I/O (Input-Output) configuration settings
of the system. Example: enablingfdisabhng AHCI mode.
Boot menu
The Boot menu contains the boot configuration settings of the system. Set Boot
Priority— Set the sequence of boot devices.
The system will try to boot from the first device. If it is not available, the
system will try the next boot device.
Security menu
Security menu contains the security settings, which safeguard your system
against unauthorized use.
Administrator Password
This set of password controls the system supervisor’s access to the whole BIOS
setup utility.
User Password
This set of password controls the system user’s access to the whole BIOS setup
utility. If the password on boot is needed, the password have to be arranged
first. Otherwise the password can not be activated.
NOTE
- Password Supervisor must be created before a password to turn on the notebook is made.
- To clear existing password press Enter and type the existing password. Then press Enter for the new password (without typing any password entry) and Enter again to confirm the password clearance.
Save & Exit menu
Save Changes and Reset
Save the changes you have made and exit BIOS setup. After finishing with your
settings, you must save and exit so that the new settings can take effect.
Discard Changes and Reset
Exit BIOS setup without saving the changes you have made.
Discard Changes
Get the default values of BIOS. Restore Defaults — Load the defaults values of
BIOS.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If notebook will not dart
- Make sure the AC adapter and power cable are attached properly.
- Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Make sure the memory is attached correctly.
- Make sure there is no problem with your hard disk.
Display
If the screen does not display properly go on Pn2perlies menu =>Appeerance (change color) or PrOpeitios a Selling (display resolution).
Sound system
- If you do not hear any sound from the notebook, adjust the volume control. If you are using headphone or speakers, check that they are securely connected to your notebook.
- If the notebook emits a loud, high-pitched noise, This is the feedback between the microphone and speakers. It occurs in any sound system when input from a microphone is fed to the speakers and the speaker volume is too loud. Adjust the volume control.
Printer
If the printer can not work:
- Make sure the printer is on, and the driver is already installed.
- Make sure the cable printer is connected to your notebook.
- Make sure the paper is loaded in your printer.
Virus

Install an Anti-Virus program and keep the definitions file (the file which tells your program which viruses to look for) up to date.
Anti-Virus programs are commercially available and the definitions file updates are usually downloadable directly from the internet. -
Be careful when opening e-mail from sources you don’t know. Viruses are often triggered from within e-mail attachments so take care when opening any attached file.
You can configure most Anti Virus programs to check e-mail attachments.

CONNECT TO PERIPHERALS
Connect the AC adapter
- Connect the AC adapter.
- Connect the power cable.
Flip the LCD panel and Press the power button.
NOTE
When using the power cable, insert the power cable completely into the AC
adapter.
Memory Card
Insert memory card all the way into the slot. To remove, simply pull out the
memory card.
- Insert USB flash/cable to any USB ports in the notebook.
- Operating system will either auto load the driver from the system or prompt you to install the driver.
HDMI Port
- Connect HDMI cable to the HDMI port of the notebook.
- Operating system will auto load the connection or prompt you to install the driver,
