HOW TO OPERATE

Before first use, clean the inside and outside of the unit by wiping with a moist, non-abrasive sponge or cloth and then wipe with a non-abrasive dry towel. Make sure the Top Housing is securely attached to the Base before starting.

  1. First, find a flat surface near an electrical outlet before starting. Make sure your cord is away from any water source. It is acceptable to use an extension cord if needed.

  2.  Gather your popcorn-making supplies: popcorn, seasonings, bowls or bags for holding the popcorn.

  3. Plug in the appliance while switch is flipped to OFF position.

  4. Remove the Kernel Measuring Cup.

  5. Turn unit ON by flipping the switch on the Base. Allow the appliance to run for about 3 minutes to heat up the Popping Chamber.

  6. Turn unit OFF. Place bowl underneath the Popcorn Chute to collect popcorn.

  7.  Fill the Kernel Measuring Cup (¼ cup) with popcorn kernels to the line indicated on the inside of the cup.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT overfill or pack kernels into Kernel Measuring Cup as this will crowd the Popping Chamber. Doing so may result in more unpopped kernels and cause kernels to smoke or burn.
NOTE: Some brands of kernels have a harder outer shell and sometimes result in fewer popped kernels. Generally, yellow corn pops better than white corn. We recommend trying different brands to find which you like best.

  8. Pour kernels into the Popping Chamber and replace Kernel Measuring Cup.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT place oil, shortening, butter or anything other than popcorn kernels into the Popping Chamber.

  9. Turn unit ON. Within minutes, fresh popcorn will begin to burst out of the Popcorn Chute and into the bowl below.
IMPORTANT: If you see or smell smoke or odor, or if this appliance begins to malfunction during use, immediately unplug the cord. Do not attempt to repair a malfunctioning appliance.
CAUTION: Occasionally a hot unpopped kernel may be thrown from the popping chute. To avoid contact with hot kernels, keep children and your face and hands a safe distance from unit during the popping process.

  10. When the popping slows to around 1-2 pops per second, turn unit OFF.
NOTE: Overcooking the popcorn will cause scorching and burning.

  11.  Allow unit to cool for 10 minutes between popping sessions so unit does not overheat.

HELPFUL TIPS

POPCORN

The AIR-POP POPCORN MAKER is designed for all regular and premium brands of popping corn. Yellow corn generally pops better than white corn, while some brands of kernels have a harder outer shell and may result in fewer popped kernels. Try different brands to find which you like best. Always use fresh popcorn. Dried out, stale, or old popcorn pops poorly
as it has lost its moisture content and may scorch. We recommend storing popcorn in an airtight container in a cool place. Occasionally popcorn does not pop. This is usually the result of environmental factors sush as freshness and moisture content of the popcorn, or variances of popcorn type. Unpopped kernels do not necessarily indicate a defect in the appliance. When filling the Kernel Measuring Cup, make sure to not fill above the marked line. Underfilling can cause less kernels to pop and more unpopped kernels to come out of the unit. Overfilling can cause popped corn to burn and smoke, as it will over fill the Popping Chamber.
CAUTION: Occasionally a hot unpopped kernel may be thrown from the popping chute. To avoid contact with hot kernels, keep your children and your face and hands a safe distance from unit during the popping process.

SEASONING
When adding seasonings, a spritz of olive oil, water or butter will allow the seasonings to better stick to the popcorn.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT place oil, butter, seasonings, or anything other than popcorn kernels into the Popping Chamber. Use of these substances will cause hazards and will damage the unit.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  1. Make sure appliance is unplugged before cleaning.
  2. Allow unit to cool for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Remove the Top Housing and Kernel Measuring Cup from Base.
  4. Use slightly damp, non-abrasive sponge or cloth to wipe down the inside and outside of Base, including inside of Popping Chamber, then wipe with a non-abrasive towel to dry.
  5. Wash Top Housing and Kernel Measuring Cup with hot, soapy water using a non-abrasive sponge or cloth and wipe dry with a non-abrasive towel.
  6. Reassemble unit and store.
NOTE: Never place any parts in the dishwasher. Always wash by hand.
