PB -­ Universal bracket for attaching a battery pack
Y1 ­- Kit allows you to connect two independent reclining modular pieces (less than 3′ apart)
Y2 ­- Kit allows you to connect two independent reclining modular pieces (more than 3′ apart).
Y3 -­ Kit allows you to connect three independent reclining modular pieces

Please be aware:

  1. Battery must be fully charged before initial use to ensure maximum battery life.

  2. Do not allow battery to completely discharge.
    a. A complete discharge may cause battery failure, which is a common characteristic of Lithium Ion batteries.
    b. This battery is equipped with a twenty-minute audible low battery warning signal. You can use your recliners while the battery is charging.

  3. Power reclining furniture with LED lights, speakers, USB ports, etc., will significantly reduce battery life.
    a. Many USB ports draw power even when not in use, requiring frequent charging of your battery.
    b. Ask Living Spaces for more information on the type of USB your furniture is equipped with.

  4. If your furniture is equipped with an on/off USB switch, and you are not continuously plugged into an outlet, it is recommended that you keep USB off at all times.
    a. Using a battery to charge another electronic device will transfer the stored energy from the battery to the electronic device and require frequent recharging of your battery.

Charging Instructions

Normal charging procedure (Scenarios A and B)

  1. Press the Yellow power indicator button to display estimated remaining power when battery is not plugged into charger.
  2. Connect charger to battery pack. Only use charger provided.
  3. Connect the AC power cord to charger, then plug AC power cord into electrical outlet.
  4. The LED light will turn bright red, which indicates battery is charging.
  5. When the LED light turns blue, battery pack is fully charged.

Normal charging procedure (Scenario C)

  1. Press the Yellow power indicator button to display estimated remaining power when battery is not plugged into charger.
  2. Connect charger to Power Port in the rear, right side of your furniture. Only use charger provided.
  3. Connect the AC power cord to charger, then plug AC power cord into electrical outlet.
  4. The LED light on the Power Port will turn bright red, which indicates built-in battery is charging.
  5. When the LED light on Power Port turns blue, built-in battery pack is fully charged.

Low Battery warning -­ This battery pack includes an audible warning feature. Battery will beep continuously for 20 minutes when the remaining power is below 10%. It is recommended that you connect charger immediately. You may continue to operate your recliner(s) while charging.

Caution: If your furniture is equipped with LED lights, speakers, USB ports, etc., the battery may require frequent charging as some of these features are always active and continuously consume power. In this case, it is important to charge battery every month. If your furniture has these features listed above, and you anticipate the recliner will not be used for more than one month, it is recommended that you disconnect your battery pack from motor. When battery pack is not in use for extended period, please store in a safe place and ensure the battery pack has at least 50% power.

Installation Instructions

Scenario A (floor install without PB bracket)
Battery pack sits on floor underneath reclining mechanism and attaches to motor cable underneath recliner. When connecting multiple independent recliners, please refer to additional instructions included in your purchase of Y1, Y2 or Y3 cables.

Scenario B (installation behind backflap with purchase of PB bracket)
(Option #1) Battery pack is mounted behind the backflap of recliner using option PB bracket (Please refer to PB bracket installation instructions). Battery attaches to motor cable under recliner. When connecting multiple independent recliners, please refer to additional instructions included in your purchase of Y1, Y2 or Y3 cables.

(Option #2) If your recliner includes “Battery Ready” feature, the motor connection will be behind the backflap. When connecting multiple independent recliners, please refer to additional instructions included in your purchase of Y1, Y2 or Y3 cables.

Scenario C ­- Your recliner was manufactured to include a built-in battery pack. Battery is located inside the left arm when you are facing the front of your furniture. The power port is located on the back of this arm. Open zipper on bottom of left arm facing and connect battery to motor cable. Proceed to charging instructions for scenario C in next section of owner’s manual.

Other Important Information

  1. Should your battery remain unused for an extended period, it may require several charging cycles before reaching peak performance.
  2. Fully charged and unused mobile power sources are recommended to be recharged every 6 months. The storage temperature should remain between 32-100 degrees Fahrenheit (0-38 ). Absolute humidity should remain between 45%-85%.
  3. For optimum performance, battery pack should be used in at room temperatures ranging from 50-86 degrees Fahrenheit (10-30).
  4. Safety instructions:
  • Please check battery casing for cracks or other damage before use.
  • Should a malfunction be suspected when in first use, such as an odor, stop using it immediately and return battery pack to the seller. Battery pack should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight to avoid overheating, discoloration, warping, poor performance or shortened life.
  • This battery pack has been developed for use in power reclining furniture. Choosing to use battery pack for other equipment than its intended use will void the warranty. Ensure that the technical specifications of this battery pack, such as high current, fast charging, special applications and other functions, meet the requirements of another manufacturer’s equipment before use.
  • The battery pack has a built-in protection circuit to prevent various accidents. Do not use the battery pack in places where static electricity is available. Static electricity (above 1000V) can easily damage the battery casing, causing the battery pack to heat up, deform, smoke or ignite.
  • When in use, the battery pack should be kept away from heat or high pressure. Do not drop the battery pack.
  • Do not touch the contacts or disassemble the battery pack by yourself. Tampering with battery pack may be harmful and will void warranty.
  • Never leave the battery pack in a damp place. Avoid getting the battery pack wet. Doing so may cause damage to the internal protection circuit, causing it to heat up, smoke, deform or burn.
  • Dispose of the discarded battery pack properly. Do not put it in fire or in water.
  • The battery pack’s positive and negative pin connectors must not be touched by metal or foreign object. Doing so may cause a short-circuit, the current will be amplified, and the battery pack will be damaged, causing it to heat up, smoke, deform or burn.
  • Do not use the battery pack near fire sources, ovens, or where environment temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38) or in high pressure. This may cause a short circuit and battery pack to heat up, smoke, deform or burn.

| CAUTION
Should battery pack malfunction and cause a hazard by leaking, do not come in contact with leakage. In the event of accidental contact, rinse with water immediately and consult a doctor.

Battery pack should always remain out of the reach of children or those who have reduced physical or sensory ability.

Troubleshooting

  1. For your safety, battery pack includes short circuit and overload protection systems. Should the system experience either a short circuit or overload situation, power will be cut automatically. Unplug the battery pack from motor, wait 3 minutes, then fully charge battery pack before reconnecting to motor.

  2. f the red light flashes rapidly (0.3 second intervals), it indicates a problem with the battery pack which may include voltage overload, temperature overload, power loss, etc. Please stop charging and/or using battery pack immediately until red light stops flashing rapidly. Please note that red light flashing slowly (2 second intervals) is normal and reminds the user that the battery pack is low and should be charged as soon as possible.

  3. Only a qualified technician may repair battery pack. Tampering with battery pack casing will void warranty.

  4. My battery is connected, and furniture does not recline?
    a. Ensure that the battery is properly installed and plugged in as instructed above. Specifically, ensure that the cord from the battery is connected to the motor cord from the power recliner mechanism and not the cord for the power headrest or power lumbar.
    b. Follow the charging instructions if the red-light is flashing slowly (2 second intervals).
    c. Verify that your furniture reclines when connected directly to the wall plug without the battery installed. This will help determine if the issue is with the recliner, battery connection, or the battery.

  5. One or more of the power features (i.e. power lumbar or headrest if included) of the furniture do not function.
    a. Ensure that the power cables for each feature are connected according to your furniture’s instruction manual.
    b. Ensure that the cables are attached to the recliner power cord according to the directions above.
    c. Verify that the power feature operates when connected directly to the wall plug without the battery installed. This will help determine if the issue is with the furniture, battery connection, or the battery.
