Manège
Groomer
Ref: MSMGT
DESCRIPTION
The manège groomer is ideal for maintenance of both sand and fibre or sand and rubber surfaces. Spring tines lift the sand and the two crumb rollers redistribute the material evenly, providing you with a level, even and safe surface for riding. The wheels make transportation and storage of the unit quick and easy. The groomer has two crumble rollers. The front roller has bar runners to carry out the first crumbling action. This is followed by two rows of spoon shaped spring tines. These are staggered/off set to give the required coverage to maintain the working surface. The rear crumble roller has round bars to complete the task.

- Never allow people to ride on the frame.
- Be aware of your surroundings and do not use the groomer in close proximity to other people.
- Do not travel at speeds which would allow the unit to bounce.
- Do not turn sharply at the end of a row, take a wide turning arc.
- Never reverse the unit with the tines or roller in contact with the ground.
If in doubt, please call the SCH customer help line at 01473 328272.
TRANSPORT
Two puncture proof wheels are incorporated in the design to allow the unit to
be safely and easily transported to and from the storage area.
The tow bar can be used in two positions:
In a fixed position – for transport
In a floating position – we recommend the floating position for levelling.
IMPORTANT
It is essential that the front and rear tines are not lowered into the surface
too deep otherwise you run the risk of catching the top membrane and causing
damage to your arena.
We recommend tines are lowered no deeper than 40mm. (if you suspect your
surface levels are below 100mm anywhere on the arena it is essential that you
address this problem before using your groomer.
Once you have adjusted the depth setting be sure to replace the holding pins
that stop the depth control handles from moving.
SCH Supplies accept no responsibility for any damage caused by incorrect
settings.
OPERATION
Once the unit is in the arena:
- Raise the transport wheels fully by winding the wheel handles in a clockwise direction until the wheels are fully retracted and the unit is riding on its back and front crumble bars.
- Remove the transport fixing pin so that the tow bar is in its ‘floating position’.
- Using the crumble bar roller adjuster first lower the front crumble bar so that the tines directly behind it go into the surface around 10mm. Then repeat the same process for the rear crumble bar adjusting so that the unit sits level to the eye and both front and back tines go into the surface at approximately the same depth. It is best to gradually increase the depth in stages of 10mm at a time.
MAINTENANCE
- Wash down after use, do not pressure wash the bearings on the crumble roller.
- Grease the screw jacks and all moving parts at regular intervals.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Maintenance of your arena surface is one of the most important activities you
can carry out to maintain its importance.
Use a vehicle that does not have agricultural tyres as they can dig up the
surface.
Keep heavy vehicles off the surface except of maintenance purposes.
Try to pick up horse droppings and other debris prior to raking, to help
prevent contamination.
The grooming rake is not designed to correct un-level surfaces, major tracking
or dips due to jumping etc, must be hand raked first.
Always try to vary the location of the starting position.
Work at a fairly brisk pace.
Setting the tines shallower will result in a firmer riding surface and vice
versa.
Sand based Surfaces should be kept damp at all times.
