Control Panel
- INPUT – 6.3mm jack (unbalanced)
- VOLUME – Volume for CLEAN channel
- BASS + TREBLE – Tone controls for clean channel
- CH/SEL – Channel switch CLEAN – OVERDRIVE
- GAIN – Input drive level for OVERDRIVE channel or DRIVE effect
- DRIVE – Switch for engaging the drive effect
- VOLUME – Master volume control
- EQ Section – BASS, MIDDLE (CONTOUR for CG-6 0) and TREBLE tone controls
- REVERB – Level control for the internal spring reverb effect
- AUX IN – twin RCA line-level input for playback devices like mp3 players etc.
- FOOTSWITCH – 6.3mm jack input for channel footswitch
- HEADPHONES – 6.3mm stereo jack headphone output (mutes the speaker for silent practice)
- POWER – power switch and indicator
- SEND/RETURN – Loop for external effects (6.3mm jack, unbalanced)
Operation Connect the guitar to the CG-series amplifier input using a good quality 6.3mm mono jack lead. Otherwise, if effect pedals are to be used, plug into these first (unless they are to be used in the effects loop) and plug the output from these to the input of the amplifier.
- Connect the amplifier to the mains using the appropriate mains IEC lead supplied.
- If any external effects are to be used in the effects loop, connect the Send/Return jacks to the input/output of the unit(s) and power up ready for use.
- Set VOLUME, GAIN and REVERB controls to the minimum (fully anticlockwise) position.
- Turn the BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE and CONTOUR controls to the mid-way position.
- Switch on the POWER and switch the channel to CLEAN (make sure the DRIVE switch is off for CG-10). For CG-60 and CG-30, this can be achieved by plugging a footswitch into the 6.3mm
- FOOTSWITCH jack and pressing the switch.
- Increase VOLUME for the clean channel and play a note, ensuring that the guitar’s volume and tone controls are turned up. Continue increasing VOLUME until the required signal level is achieved.
- For CG-60, adjusting the left-most BASS and TREBLE controls adjusts the tone for the clean channel.
- Switch the CHANNEL or DRIVE switch to the overdrive channel or effect and turn up the GAIN to the desired drive level whilst adjusting the VOLUME to balance the output level to suit. Note that higher gain and lower volume can give more distortion.
- Adjust BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE controls to achieve the desired tone. On the CG-60, the CONTOUR control adjusts the response curve of the mid frequencies.
- Turn the REVERB control up to the required level to introduce the internal spring reverb effect to the sound.
- Plugging a line level source into the AUX twin RCA input mixes it with the guitar’s signal without adding overdrive or tone shaping to the AUX signal. This may be a playback device, such as an mp3 player or CD player or even a drum machine to play along with.
- Plugging in a pair of headphones to the 6.3mm TRS Phones jack will allow silent practice by muting the speaker output.
- Before switching off or removing power, turn down the VOLUME controls.
- When not in use, switch off and disconnect from the mains.
