SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, especially when children are present, basic
safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING KEEP AWAY FROM WATER
DANGER – As with most electrical appliances, electrical parts are
electrically live even when the switch is off.
To reduce the risk of death by electric shock:
- Check that the voltage of your electricity supply matches the voltage of your appliance. Any error when connecting the appliance can cause irreparable harm, not covered by the warranty.
- Always unplug the iron immediately after using.
- Do not use while bathing.
- Do not place or store your iron where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
- Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.
- Never use your iron with wet hands or near water contained in bathtubs, showers, sinks or other liquids.
- If an appliance falls into water, unplug it immediately. Do not reach into the water.
WARNING– To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire, or injury to persons:
- An iron should never be left unattended when plugged in.
- Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on, or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
- Use the iron only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Never operate your iron if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been dropped, damaged, or dropped into water. Return the iron to a service center for examination and repair.
- Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not wrap the cord around the iron.
- Never block the air openings of the iron or place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair.
- Never use while sleeping.
- Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose.
- Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
- Unplug this appliance before filling it. Fill the reservoir with water only.
- This straightener is hot when in use. Do not let heated surfaces touch bare skin.
- Do not place the heated straightener directly on any surface while it is hot or plugged in. Use the stand provided.
- While emitting steam, this straightener may cause burns if it is used too close to the skin, scalp or eyes, or if it is used incorrectly.
- Do not use an extension cord with this iron.
- Do not direct hot air toward eyes or other heat-sensitive areas.
- Attachments may be hot during use. Allow them to cool before handling.
- Do not place the iron on any surface while it is hot or plugged in.
- While using the iron, keep your hair away from the air inlets.
- Do not operate with a voltage converter.
- This iron is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the iron.
- Do not clean with abrasive or corrosive products.
- Do not use at temperatures below 50°F and above 95°F.
- The iron and attachments are hot when in use. Do not let eyes and bare skin touch heated surfaces.
- To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting steam vents, test the straightener before each use by holding it away from the body and operating the steam button. ˝This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature˝
WARRANTY
This product has been designed for commercial and household use. Inappropriate
use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no
responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.

OPERATIONS
USER MAINTENANCE
CAUTION! Always unplug your appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning it. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry with a dry cloth. Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative. It is important to follow the proper method of cord storage & total appliance storage; and cord care while in use.
- The iron should be stored in a safe, dry location, out of reach of children.
- If the cord of the iron is twisted, untwist the cord before use.
- Do not wrap the cord around the handle unit.
Attaching / Removing / cleaning the comb.
If you want to clean the comb, you can remove it by following the diagram
beneath. Important, you must remove the comb when it’s cold in order to avoid
getting burnt. The comb can be cleaned in soapy water. Check that the comb is
dry before fitting it back on the straightener.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
What kind of water do I use?
The appliance is used with lime-free water. Use commercially-available
demineralized water. Failure to comply with this recommendation will result in
the poorer performance of your appliance. The scaling of your product is not
covered by the warranty. Never use water-containing additives (starch,
perfume, aromatic substances, softener, etc.), nor water from the
heating/cooling systems or condensation (for example water from clothes
driers, water from refrigerators, water from air conditioners, rainwater).
What temperature do I use for which service?
3 temperature levels: 355°F – 390°F – 410°F. Adjust the temperature to your
hair type. The temperature of 355°F can be used on the following hair types:
natural/thick/strong, not colored/ not highlighted.
How do I fill the tank?
Remove it by pressing the two buttons at the bottom of the tank then lift it
up. Once removed, lift the tab and fill the tank up to the maximum level using
your bottle of demineralized water.
How do I put the tank back in?
Put the front of the tank in place then press on the back to snap it in place.
INTERNATIONAL LIMITED GUARANTEE
This product is repairable by ROWENTA during and after the guarantee period. Accessories, Consumables, and end-user replaceable parts can be purchased, if locally available, as described on the ROWENTA internet site.
The Guarantee
This product is guaranteed by ROWENTA against any manufacturing defect in
materials or workmanship for 2 (two) years for use by the general public and 1
(one) year for professional use (in accordance with current law). The
international manufacturer’s guarantee by ROWENTA is an extra benefit that
does not affect consumers’ Statutory Rights. The international manufacturer’s
guarantee covers all costs related to restoring the proven defective product
so that it conforms to its original specifications, through the repair or
replacement of any defective part and the necessary labor. At ROWENTA’s
choice, a replacement product may be provided instead of repairing a defective
product. ROWENTA’s sole obligation and your exclusive resolution under this
guarantee are limited to such repair or replacement.
Conditions & Exclusions
The international ROWENTA guarantee only applies within the guarantee period
and for those countries listed in the Country List attached and is valid only
on presentation of a proof of purchase. The product can be taken directly in
person to an authorized service center or must be adequately packaged and
returned, by recorded delivery (or an equivalent method of postage), to a
ROWENTA authorized service center. Full address details for each country’s
authorized service centers are listed on the ROWENTA website
(www.rowenta.com) or by calling the appropriate
telephone number as set out in the Country List to request the appropriate
postal address. ROWENTA shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product
which is not accompanied by a valid proof of purchase.
This guarantee will not cover any damage which could occur as a result of
misuse, negligence, failure to follow ROWENTA instructions, use on current or
voltage other than as stamped on the product, or a modification or
unauthorized repair of the product. It also does not cover normal wear and
tears, maintenance or replacement of consumable parts, or the following:
– using the wrong type of water or consumable
– scaling (any de-scaling must be carried out according to the instructions
for use)
– the ingress of water, dust, or insects into the product
– mechanical damages, overloading
– damages or bad results due to wrong voltage or frequency
– accidents including fire, flood, thunderbolt, etc
– professional or commercial use
– damage to any glass or porcelain ware in the product
– stains due to hair coloring products
This guarantee does not apply to any product that has been tampered with, or
to damages incurred through improper use and care, faulty packaging by the
owner, or mishandling by any carrier. The international ROWENTA guarantee
applies only for products used in any of the listed countries where the
specific product is sold.
Consumer Statutory Rights
This international ROWENTA guarantee does not affect the statutory rights a
consumer may have or those rights that cannot be excluded or limited, nor
rights against the retailer from which the consumer purchased the product.
This guarantee gives a consumer specific legal rights, and the consumer may
also have other legal rights which vary from State to State or Country to
Country. The consumer may assert any such rights at his sole discretion.
TROUBLESHOOTING
THE HAIR IS NOT PROPERLY STRAIGHTENED:

Have you used the appliance the right way around? (Steam outlets and comb pointing to the ends of the hair)

Did you go slowly enough on the lock of hair?

Did you use Steampod cosmetics?

Have you completely dried the hair beforehand?

Have you selected the correct temperature?

Is the appliance producing steam? NO

Have you correctly filled the tank? Fill it and close the clamp until the steam comes out.

Did you press the tank incorrectly until you heard it click?

Has the appliance reached its temperature? Wait until the selected temperature figure is no longer flashing.
STEAM NOT VISIBLE: -
In a very humid environment, steam may not be seen but will still be effective.
THE APPLIANCE IS NOT HEATING UP: -
Have you checked that the appliance is not in power-safe mode?
ALL THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING: -
If all the temperature lights are flashing simultaneously: take your appliance to an Approved Service Center.
THE TOP PLATE IS NOT FIXED -
This is normal, the appliance is equipped with a movable plate for more efficient straightening.
YOUR APPLIANCE ISSUES WATER FROM THE STEAM OUTLETS -
Take your appliance to an Approved Service Center.
YOUR APPLIANCE IS LEAKING: -
Unplug it immediately. take your appliance to an Approved Service Center.
THE STEAM FROM THE STEAM POD STOPS FROM TIME TO TIME -
This is normal, the appliance has been designed to regulate steam with a controlled flow.
