Intended use

The AcuCare HFNC (high flow nasal cannula) system is intended to provide high flow oxygen therapy for adult patients with acute respiratory failure. The AcuCare HFNC is designed to deliver air, with or without blended oxygen, up to a maximum flow of 60 l/min. The AcuCare HFNC is for single-patient use (maximum 7 days) in the hospital/clinical environment.

Contraindications
High flow oxygen therapy may generate some positive airway pressure. Contraindications for positive airway pressure devices apply: pneumothorax, pathologically low blood pressure, cerebrospinal fluid leak, recent cranial surgery or trauma, severe bullous lung disease, dehydration.ResMed-HFNC-

GENERAL WARNINGS

  • Do not reuse. Reuse increases the risk of contact to harmful microorganisms which may cause serious infection.
  • Only use in approved configurations.
  • Check for condensation regularly. Drain as required.
  • Oxygen supports combustion. Do not use in the presence of an open flame.
  • Do not use if components are damaged.
  • Risk of minor nasal mucosa irritation and minor bleeding due to gas flow and mechanical contact.

CAUTION

  • Before connecting the nasal cannula check for adequate gas flow, oxygen and temperature.
  • Ensure the nasal cannula is sized correctly and does not seal nares.
  • Do not crush or stretch tubing.

Technical specifications

  • Setup: For use with high flow oxygen therapy humidification systems which deliver a warm, humid air flow ≤ 37°C (≤ 98°F) and ≤ 100% r.h. with a maximum oxygen content of 100% O2 and a flow of up to 60 L/min (e.g. HumiCare D900 System).
  • Connection: 22 mm Male Conical Connector (complies with ISO 5356-1). Flow range: ≤ 60 L/min
  • Operating conditions: +18°C to +35°C (+64°F to +95°F); ≤ 95% r.h. non-condensing.
  • Resistance to Flow at 60 l/min: Size Small (S, 23003) 29 cmH2O; Medium (M, 23004) 17 cmH2O; Large (L, 23005) 12 cmH2O

Disposal
This nasal cannula does not contain any hazardous substances and may be disposed of in accordance with local environmental regulations.
