Quick Start Guide

APP PROGRAMMING

Download the free Hunter BTT app to a smartphone device from the App Store for iOS® devices, or Google PlayTM store for Android™ devices.

Important Safety Instructions

  1. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  2. Use a hose vacuum breaker were required to prevent backflow to the water supply.
  3. Use a pressure regulator where required to control the output of water. (Model No. PRLG203FH3MH for 20 PSI (1.4 bar/138 kPa), PRLG253FH3MH for 25 PSI (1.7
    bar/172 kPa), PRLG303FH3MH for 30 PSI (2 bar/207 kPa), PRLG403FH3MH for 40 PSI (2.8 bar/276 kPa))

**** Warnings and Cautions

  • Do NOT make unauthorized alterations to this product.
  • Keep the product away from fire and heat sources.
  • Do not expose products containing batteries to excessive heat (e.g., from storage in direct sunlight, fire, or the like).
  • The product label is located on the back of the product.
  • Replace only with the same or equivalent battery type. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
  • Do NOT mix old and new batteries, or mix different types or makes of batteries.

Connecting the Batteries

  1.  Squeeze the battery compartment tabs with two fingers and pull outward to remove the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the included 2x AA standard alkaline batteries into the terminals. Observe + position.
  3. Replace the battery compartment.
  4. Test power to the controller by pressing the manual button on the front of the controller and listening for a click sound. Press again to turn it off. NOTE: Manual button mode runs for a maximum of 60 minutes and then shuts off watering.

Connecting to Water Supply BTT-100/200 Instructions:

  1. Connect the controller only to a standard ¾” (19 mm) threaded water supply/hose faucet outlet.
  2. Hand-tighten until secure.
  3. Connect a ¾” (19 mm) inlet hose or drip adapter (Model No. BTT-LOC) to the BTT outlet.
  4. Hand-tighten until secure.

Connecting to Water Supply BTT-101/201 Instructions:

  1. Connect the controller only to a standard ¾” (19 mm) threaded water supply/hose faucet outlet. Unscrew the grey adapter to use the 1″ (25 mm) BSP inlet option.
  2. Hand-tighten until secure.
  3. Connect a ¾” (19 mm) inlet hose, drip adapter (Model No. BTTLOC), or quick-connect adapter (included) to the BTT outlet.
  4. Hand-tighten until secure.

Download the Mobile App

  1. Download the free Hunter BTT app to a smartphone device from the App Store for iOS® devices, or Google Play™ store for Android™.
  2. Be within 32′ (10 m) of the controller.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth on the smartphone device.
  4. Press the SCAN button and select Hunter BTT.

Timer Mode Programming

Timer mode allows for watering at four different start times from 1 second to 6 hours, per watering day.

  1. Under schedule, select the Pencil icon for the desired zone number.

  2. Select the Timer Mode option.

  3. Water Days: Select the desired water days. Save and Confirm.

  4. Start Times: Set START TIME 1 and optional START TIME 2-4.
    Save and Confirm.

  5. Run Time: Set the desired RUN TIME from 1 second to 6
    hours. Save and Confirm.

Cycling Mode Programming

Cycling mode allows the Run Time to repeat continually after the scheduled interval (Soak Time) from a Start Time to an End Time.

  1. Under schedule, select the Pencil icon for the desired zone number.

  2. Select the Cycling Mode option.

  3. Water Days: Select the desired water days. Save and Confirm.

  4. Start Times: Set START TIME 1 and optional START TIME 2.
    Save and Confirm.

  5.  End Times: Set END TIME 1 and optional END TIME 2. Save and Confirm.

  6. Run Time: Set the desired RUN TIME from 1 second to 24 hours. Save and Confirm.

  7. Soak Time: Set optional SOAK TIME, the time between each Run Time interval, from 1 second to 24 hours.
    Save and Confirm.

Manual Watering

  •  For manual watering, press Schedule , press the Play button, select a zone or Run All. Enter a runtime up to 360 minutes and press Run.
  • Set Custom Push-Button Manual Run Time: In controller settings under zones, select a zone. Select Manual Run Time and set run time from 1 to 60 minutes. Save and confirm.

Additional Settings

  • Renaming your BTT: Press More , select controller, select controller, and serial number and enter a name in the Nickname section. Save and Confirm.
  • Press More , select the controller and enter a 4 digit passcode in the Create Passcode section. To disable, press Disable Passcode. Save and confirm.
  • Changing the Language: Press More , select App Settings, then Language. Select the desired language. Save and Confirm.
  • Suspend Watering: Press More . Select controller/serial number. Under advanced settings, select suspend watering. Set from 1-99 days. Save.
  • Zone Off Mode: Press More , select the controller/serial number. Select the desired zone to turn off. Toggle slider to turn off the water.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution

Controller not appearing in scan list Loses connection Can’t connect or app errors| Move closer than 32′ (10 m) of the controller. Verify battery strength and cycle the batteries. Uninstall and reinstall the Hunter BTT app. Accept permissions: “Location Tracking” or manually enable permissions in smartphone settings. Reboot smartphone.
Reset phone network settings. Reconnect controller.
Manual button press not responding| Replace the batteries (two AA alkaline batteries).
The app indicates watering, but none is occurring| Turn on the water supply. Repeat manual watering within the app or on the controller.
Automatic irrigation does not start at the start time| Verify controller is programmed for automatic watering; correct Start Times, Run Time, and Watering Days.
Controller waters more than one time| Eliminate controller start times as needed.

Correct the Soak Time in Cycling mode.

Incorrect passcode| Remove and replace batteries. Go back to the app and connect.

Equipment Protection

  • Water pressure requirements: Make sure your water pressure is 7-116 PSI (0.5-8 bar/50-800 kPa).
  • Make sure water is clean and particle-free.
  • Maximum inlet water temperature: 100°F (38°C)
  • Operating temperature: 41°F to 140°F (5°C to 60°C)
  • Protect against freezing: Do not allow water to freeze in the tap timer or in any connected hose.
  • Chemicals: Do not use the tap timer with or to dispense any chemicals of any kind.
  • Do not open: The tap timer requires no maintenance and contains no user-serviceable parts.
  • Periodic inspection of connections is recommended to prevent water leaks.
  • Approvals: IPX6
