Important Information

  • Keep small parts and accessories away from children
  • Store/dispose of plastic bags and packaging in an area that is inaccessible to children
  • Do not hand over small parts and packaging to children

  • Always comply with the information in the operating instructions/quick installation guide
  • Exclusively use the product once the specifications have been met
  • Back up data prior to commissioning

Cleaning the device

Use the key to unlock the lock by turning it 90 degrees clockwise.

Hardware installation

  1. Switch OFF the PC and all other connected peripheral devices.

  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the PC and remove the cover of your PC.

  3. Remove the covers of the available 2x 5.25″ bays.

  4. Insert the backplane into the bay and fix it with 4 screws on each side.

  5. 6 Gbit/s support
    Connect the three 7-pin SATA data interfaces of the backplane to three 7-pin SATA data interfaces of the host PC with included cables.
    12 Gbit/s support
    Connect the three 7-pin SATA data interfaces of the backplane with a three 7-pin SATA data interfaces to Mini SAS HD (SFF-8643) adapter cable (not included) to the supported host PC (Mini SAS HD PCIe card is not included).

  6. Then connect the two 15-pin SATA power ports with two 15-pin SATA power cables to two 15-pin SATA power connectors on the host PC.
    Note: It requires more power to allow three 3.5″ drives working at the same time.

  7. Replace the PC cover and reconnect the power cable of the PC.

Drive installation

Attention

  • Do not force to close the door if inserting the drive in the wrong direction, or the drive and/or the backplane will be damaged.
  • Drives should be handled carefully, especially when you transport them, otherwise you may experience
  • lost or corrupted data.
  1. If the door is locked, use the key to unlock. Then pull the door handle open.

  2. Gently insert the drive (printed side up) into the enclosure and close the door.

  3. Lock the door by key if needed.

During operation

LED indicators

Power indicator : Blue LED lights up constantly
Access indicator : Blue LED flashes
Fan failure : Orange LED flashes
Temperature notice : Red LED flashes

Fan failure alarm

If the fan fails, the buzzer activates and the orange LED flashes.
The orange LED stops flashing when the function returns to normal.
Attention
Note: The built-in fan works with the integrated temperature control system of the backplane. Changing the fan with other models may affect the function.

Temperature alarm

If the temperature is above the setting, the buzzer activates and the red LED flashes.
The red LED stops flashing when the temperature returns below the setting.
Attention
Note that the drives can reach temperatures of 50° C or higher during operation.
Risk of injury when removing the drives!

ON/OFF switch for LED hard disk activity

OFF: Switching off the activity indicator
ON: Switching on the activity indicator

Switch for fan speed

AUTO: When the internal temperature reaches 30° C, the fan starts running.
The fan speed is automatically adjusted to temperature changes. The fan rotates at the highest speed when the temperature reaches 40° C.
HIGH: The fan already rotates at the highest speed when the temperature reaches 30° C.
(When the backplane is just powered on, the fan will run for a few seconds as self-test and then stops.)

Setting (ON/OFF) for alarm buzzer

OFF: Deactivating the buzzer sound
ON: Switch on the buzzer sound

Setting the temperature alarm range
Temperature alarm can be set to 55° C, 60° C or 65° C
