  •  the left scale is for normal-sized cups (around 125 ml).
  •  the right scale is for smaller cups.
  •  Replace the reservoir lid.

  •  The water in the reservoir is brought to the boil. With the water reservoir filled to its maximum capacity, it will take about 5 minutes to heat the water.
  •  Once the perfect brewing temperature has been reached the valve inside the water reservoir opens and the brewing cycle begins.
  •  The ‘click’ sound indicates that the valve opens and closes for a perfect brewing result.
  •  The filtered coffee starts flowing into the carafe.
  •  Once the water has passed through, the light ring lights up briefly. The unit switches off automatically after 5 minutes.
  •  To interrupt the brewing cycle, press the rotary control again to turn the appliance off.
  • Hint: When preparing less than 8 cups, the carafe can be removed and the appliance switched off as soon as brewing is complete, i.e. when no more coffee comes out (see Stand-by-mode & switching off).

After the brewing cycle

  •  Remove the carafe from the unit. The non-drip valve of the filter holder will close and prevent coffee from dripping onto the base.
  •  To pour coffee, press the jug lid lever downwards.
  •  Should you wish to start several brewing cycles one after the other, allow the machine to cool down for at least 5 minutes with the reservoir lid open before re-using it. Use cold water only to refill the water reservoir.
  • Caution: Remember that the water reservoir and the reservoir lid are still hot after the brewing cycle has been completed and hot steam may escape from the reservoir when opening the lid (Caution: Danger of scalding).

Stand-by-mode & switching off

  •  If the boiling process has been interrupted by pressing, the appliance can be put into standby mode or switched off.
  •  Turn the rotary control until only the main indicator light remains lit. The unit is now in stand-by mode.

Cable storage
The cable storage space serves for storing the cable. The recess at the bottom facilitates limiting the length of the power cord.

Cleaning and care

  • Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
  •  For safety reasons the coffee maker should not be treated with water or liquids and should never be immersed.
  •  Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.

After each use:

  •  Clean the filter system and heat-retaining carafe:
  • To remove the coffee grounds, open the swing-out filter, take off the lid and lift out the filter insert. Take out the paper filter with the coffee grounds; as a natural substance, the coffee grounds may be composted. The drip-through lid, filter lid and filter insert may be cleaned in hot soapy water, or in the dish-washer.
  • Do not dismantle the carafe, do not wash in a dishwasher and do not immerse it in water.
  • After use, once the jug has cooled, open it up by turning the lid anti-clockwise ( → ), use water to rinse the jug out and use a damp cloth to wipe the outside clean.
  • The individual parts should be thoroughly dried and then re-fitted to the unit.

If required:

  • Wipe the outer surfaces using a clean damp cloth; dry thoroughly afterward.
  •  Wipe the inside of the reservoir with a clean damp cloth. To prevent the outlet valve of the water reservoir from getting clogged, use a non-fluffy cloth to clean the water reservoir and the glass jug.
  • To remove any coffee deposits from the inside of the heat-retaining carafe, fill it with hot water and add a teaspoon of dishwasher detergent. Close with the
lid and leave it standing for some hours. Rinse out thoroughly with water afterward.

Descaling

  •  Depending on the water quality (lime content) in your area as well as the frequency of use, all thermal household appliances using hot water need descaling (i.e. removal of lime deposits) on a regular basis to warrant proper functioning.
  •  Any warranty claim will be null and void if the appliance malfunctions because of insufficient descaling.
  •  The indicator starts flashing when the unit needs descaling.
  • Descaling must not be done right away, but should be done soonest.
  • Descaling may also be initiated any time prior to the indicator flashing.
  • For descaling we recommend using a mixture of 6 cups of water and 50 ml of vinegar essence.
  •  Place a paper filter into the plastic filter (without using ground coffee).
  •  Fill the cold descaling solution into the water reservoir.
  •  Turn the rotary control to and press it. The light ring, the main indicator light and are lit.
  •  Pour away the descaling solution once it has passed through the system. Do not pour descalers down enamel sinks. Do not use the descaling solution a second time.
  •  Once descaling has finished, the light ring starts flashing.
  •  To clean the machine after descaling operates it twice or three times with fresh cold water only (without using ground coffee). To start the process, select the symbol
