BATRIBIKE Graphic Display Control System

DISPLAY

The display is accessed with 5 buttons and the throttle from the left side of the handlebar. The display is mounted on the stem. Read this guide for more information about display and bike funtionality.

THROTTLE

When the throttle is turned then the assist functionality is by-passed and the “Booster effect“ is activated. Release the throttle and the system returns to assist mode. Using the throttle is suitable in heavy traffic where short bursts of extra power is required e.g. in situations with overtaking of slow cyclists.

ASSIST FUNCTIONS

The system has two assist function options. The assist function will show in the display, when selected:

  • Assist level 1–5. Select by using the “Up” and “Down” buttons
  • “Walk-Assist” function is activated by holding the down button or by using the throttle without pedalling. When “Walk Assist” is activated then the bike travels at 6 km/h. (4 mph)
    “Walk-Assist” is usable if you need help to push the bike up a hill.

DISPLAY INFO
Toggle between the following in the display “Bike info” with the “Menu” button

  • Total distance
    Trip distance

  • Trip time

  • Remaining distance

  • Bike power

  • Clock

BIKE INFO
Information about the bike and trip(s) is found in the “info” menu.

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Info” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3.  Go to “Bike” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  4.  When the sub menu “Bike” is selected, it is possible to see the following info:
  5.  Total distance
  6.  Trip distance
  7.  Trip time
  8.  Average speed
  9.  Max speed

All values except “Total Distance” can be reset.

  • In the “Bike” sub menu, go to the information you want to reset with “Up” or “Down” – Select the “Menu”. Reset the value by selecting “Reset” in the display with “Menu”
  • Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

WHEEL SIZE SETTINGS

Setting wheel size

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Bike Settings” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Go to “Wheel Size” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  4. Adjust the value with “Up” or “Down” to match the circumference of the wheel, press “Menu” to save. Now the speed will be displayed correctly
  5. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

The speed display can be adjusted by changing the wheel size. The wheel size is found by measuring the inner circumference of the tyre or by reading the numbers on the side of the tyre.

DISPLAY SETTINGS

You can toggle between km/h or mph in the display:

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Display” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Go to “Units” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  4. Select “Imperial” for miles, inch, etc. Save by pressing “Menu” down
  5. Select “Metric” for km, cm, etc. Save by pressing “Menu” down
  6. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

BACK LIGHT SETTINGS
It is possible to toggle two back light settings in the display. Day setting is used if the “Light” is off. Night setting is used if the “Light” is on. Both light settings can be adjusted from 1–10 with 10 as the highest value.

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Display” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Go to “Back Light” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  4. Go to “Day” or “Night” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  5. Adjust the intensity value with “Up” or “Down” and press “Menu” to save
  6. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

TIME AND DATE SETTINGS

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Clock” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Go to “Adjust Date and Time” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  4. Go to “Adjust Date” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu” to adjust the “Adjust Date” settings
  5. Adjust the value with “Up” or “Down” – select with “Menu” and continue to next value
  6. Go to “Time” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu” to adjust the “Time” setting
  7. Adjust the value with “Up” or “Down” – select with “Menu” and continue to next value
  8. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

TIME FORMAT

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Clock” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Go to “Time Format” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu” to adjust the “Time Format” settings
  4. Go to the desired time format with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  5. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

ASSIST TYPE
Dependant on the electrical system installed on your bike, there are 2 different system options. Each system includes 3 different assist types:

Pedal speed sensor system

  • Speed mode.
  • ECO mode.
  • Set distance.

Pedal torque sensor system

  • Normal mode.
  • Torque mode.
  • Set distance.

Changing assist type:

  1. Press “Menu” down until the main menu is displayed
  2. Go to “Driving mode” with “Up” or “Down” – Select with “Menu”
  3. Toggle the assist type with “Up” or “Down” – Select and save with “Menu”
  4. Return to the main display by pressing the “Menu” button down for 2 seconds or by selecting the “back” arrow in the display with “Menu”

Conditions that may affect system capacity and performance:

  • Tyre pressure
  • Temperature
  • Wind and weather
  • Load including user weight
  • Charging the battery

SPEED MODE
At a given “Assist Level” the system will supply full driving force up to the selected speed level

Usability

  • Smooth ride

NORMAL + ECO MODE
At a given “Assist level” the system will supply a specified amount of driving force between 0 – 25km/h (0 – 15.5 mph)

Usability

  • Variable speed
  •  Relaxed ride

TORQUE MODE
The system provides driving force to the bike according to the amount of force applied to the pedals. At assist level 1 the user will need to provide more effort than at level 5 to reach the same speed.

Note: Available on centre motors with torque sensor only. Selecting higher gears enables the user to provide propulsion to the bike easier.

SET DISTANCE
By setting a distance the system will manage power consumption and motor assistance for the entire ride ensuring the entered distance will be reached.

Usability
When trip length exceeds battery capacity.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Errors are displayed with a code and a description in the display info area. If an error is displayed then it is a signal about an error in the electrical system. When an error is displayed it must be remedied before the motor is able to start. Check the table below for more information covering error codes.
