SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The following precautions must always be taken into consideration before using the “Magnani – Slow cooker 5 l”, hereinafter referred to as the ‘device’.

WARNING!


Some of the parts and accessories of this device can become hot.
Do not touch these parts to avoid burning yourself.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Read the instructions for use carefully and keep them safe. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on this manual.
  • Only use this device in accordance with the instructions in this user manual.
  • This device can be used by children aged 8 and over and people with restricted physical, sensory, or mental capacity or a lack of experience and expertise, provided they are under supervision or have been given instructions about safely using the device and are aware of the potential hazards. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be done by children unless they are over the age of 8 and under supervision.
  • Keep the device and power cord out of the reach of children below the age of 8 years.
  • This device is intended for domestic or similar use, not for professional use.
    WARNING! Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children. Risk of suffocation!

ELECTRICITY AND HEAT

  • Prior to use, check that the mains voltage is the same as the mains voltage stated on the nameplate of the device.

  • Make sure your hands are dry before touching the device, power cord, or plug.

  • Prior to connecting the device to the mains supply, make sure the thermostat knob is in the “OFF” position.

  • Plug the power plug into an earthed electrical outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
    WARNING! Never cover the power plug or cable with clothes, curtains, or any other material in order to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.

  • Make sure that the device and power cable do not come into contact with heat sources, like a hot hob or naked flame.

  • The device must be able to dispel its heat in order to prevent the risk of fire. Therefore, make sure the device has sufficient free space around it (at least 30 cm on all sides) and do not place the device against and/or on or near combustible materials.
    WARNING! The device must not be covered, in order to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.

  • Check the power cord regularly for damage.

  • Never use the device if the power cord shows signs of damage if the device has fallen on the ground or shows any other signs of damage.

  • Switch OFF the device and remove the power plug if you discover any faults during use, find any signs of damage, are not using the device, or are cleaning it.

  • Make sure the power cord cannot be trodden on or pinched.

  • Do not allow the power cord to hang over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and naked flames.

  • When plugging in the power plug, make sure people cannot accidentally pull it out or trip over it.

  • Remove the power plug from the power socket during lightning storms or if unused for long periods of time.

  • When removing the plug from the power socket, pull the plug itself, not the cable.

  • Do not operate the device using an external time switch or a separate remote control system.

  • Use a10 amp cable if an extension cable is required. Cables with a lower amp rating may burn out when using an extension cable, make sure it is completely extended.
    WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, protect the device from dripping or splashing water and keep away from objects filled with liquids, such as vases. Such objects should not be placed on or near the device.

USE

  • Do not use the device in the vicinity of flammable materials.

  • Do not leave the device unattended when it is in use.

  • This device is not a toy and should be kept under strict supervision to prevent children from using the device as a toy.

  • Do not allow children to clean or maintain this device unsupervised.

  • Never allow children to use domestic appliances as toys or without Children are unable to judge the hazards associated with incorrectly using electric appliances.

  • Children in the vicinity of the device must always be supervised by an adult.

  • Always ensure the device is properly assembled before use.

  • Handle with care! Like any ceramic, the stoneware inner bowl, may crack or break if not handled properly.

  • Never let the stoneware inner bowl soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause glaze crazing. If scouring is necessary, only use nylon cleaning pads with nonabrasive cleaners.

  • The removable cooking bowl must be placed in the device when used.

  • Never switch on the device without the removable cooking bowl placed inside the device.

  • Do not place food or liquids directly into the stain the less steel part of the device.

  • Only the removable cooking bowl is designed to contain food or liquids.

  • Do not use the removable cooking bowl in a conventional oven.

  • Do not place the removable cooking bowl onto a hot gas or electric burner.

  • Only use the removable cooking bowl supplied with the device. Do not use any other bowl.

  • Do not use a damaged or cracked removable cooking bowl.

  • Never place frozen foodstuffs in the device (bowl) for cooking. First, allow them to defrost.

  • Never operate the device without any food or liquids in the removable cooking bowl.

  • Ensure that the foods or liquids to be cooked fill half or more of the removable cooking bowl before switching on the device.

  • If using plastic utensils, do not leave them inside the device when it is hot!

  • The glass lid has been specially treated to make it stronger, more durable, and safer than ordinary glass. However, it is not unbreakable. Please use caution when handling the glass lid.

  • Always have the glass lid placed correctly into position on the device during
    operation of the device, unless the recipe states that it should be removed.

  • Do not move the device during cooking.

  • Do not place frozen or very cold foods into the removable cooking bowl when it is hot.

  • Do not place the removable cooking bowl into cold water or freezer when it is hot. Sudden temperature changes can lead to breaking.

  • When in use and when stored, do not place anything other than the lid on top of the assembled device.

  • The glass lid is extremely hot, always use the handle when removing the lid.

  • Beware of scalding as a result of escaping steam when removing the glass lid. Carefully lift the lid angled away from yourself.

  • The device contains hot food, hot oils, and liquids during or immediately after cooking.

  • Do not pre-heat or heat the device when empty.

  • Do not use the device to reheat foods or for general food storage.
    The surfaces of the device become hot during use.
    DO NOT TOUCH!

  • Place the device on a flat and stable surface, in a place where it cannot fall over.

  • It is advisable to place a heat-resistant covering between the table and the device. The removable stoneware cooking bowl has a rough bottom, to prevent scratches and the heat from leaving marks on your table.

  • The device is equipped with anti-slip suction feet. The surfaces of furniture have all kinds of paint and plastic finishes that are treated with various maintenance products. As a result, it cannot be completely ruled out that some of these substa nces contain ingredients that affect the rubber and soften the feet. If necessary, puta n anti-slip mat under the device.

  • Do not lean on the device.

  • Maintain a clearance of at least 30 cm around the device. This prevents damage from heat.

  • Remove the power plug from the mains power before;
    • Fitting or removing the removable bowl
    • Moving the device
    • Clean or maintain the device
    • After you have used the device
    Store the device

  • When using, do not touch by hand or any other means.

  • Do not use hands or any other body parts to feel the temperature of the device while it is being used
    **** Never move the device when it is switched ON or still warm. First, switch OFF the device and only move it when it has cooled down.

  • Do not overfill the removable inner bowl, during cooking the volume might increase, depending on the recipe.

  • Only use heat-resistant tools featuring a handle that is well insulated against heat.

  • If using plastic utensils, do not leave them inside or on the device when it is hot!

  • Wear oven gloves when handling the device during and immediately after use and use heat-resistant utensils when checking food.

  • Clean the device thoroughly after use (see “cleaning and maintenance”).

  • Avoid locations subject to vibrations, cold, or humidity.

  • Do not expose the device to direct sunlight, heat sources, excessive humidity, or corrosive environments.

  • Do not place the device under any mechanical stress.

  • Improper use of the device could damage the product.

  • Please handle the device carefully. Impacts or falls, even from a low height, can damage the device.

  • Do not open the casing as this may result in electric shock.

  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device or modify it in any manner.

  • The device must be serviced if it has been damaged in any way, i.e. the power supply cord/plug is damaged; liquid has been spilled; objects have fallen into it; it has been exposed to rain or moisture; it has been dropped or does not operate properly.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning solvents to clean the device.

  • Do not use foreign objects to clean the device.

  • This device is intended for domestic purposes only, not for professional use.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  • This device can be used by children aged 8 and over and people with restricted physical, sensory, or mental capacity or a lack of experience and expertise, provided they are under supervision or have been given instructions about safely using the device and are aware of the potential hazards. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be done by children unless they are over the age of 8 and under supervision.
  • Only use the device indoors, in dry areas, and not in the vicinity of water, other liquids, or humidity.
  • Do not use the device if, the cable or power plug has fallen into water or any kind of fluid.
  • Never immerse the device, cable, and power plug in water or any kind of fluid.
  • Do not pick up the device if it has fallen into water or any kind of fluid. Remove the plug from the power socket immediately. Do not use the device again.
  • Parts of the device can become hot. Do not touch these parts to avoid burning yourself.
  • Only hold the device by its plastic handles. The inner bowl can become very hot!

INSTALLING AND USING THE DEVICE

Open the packaging carefully before taking out the device. Make sure the device is complete and undamaged. If any components are missing or damaged, contact the vendor and do not use the product. Retain the packaging or recycle it in accordance with local regulations.

FIRST USE

  • Remove the device and accessories from the box. Remove any stickers, protective film, or plastic from the device.

  • Before you, use the device for the first time, clean the base with a damp
    cloth and rinse the removable bowl and glass lid with soapy water.

  • Thoroughly dry the base, removable inner bowl, and glass lid.

  • Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning materials, a scouring sponge or steel wool; this damages the device, the interior, and the removable inner bowl.

  • Place the device on a flat, stable surface, in a place where it can not fall over.

  • Make sure that the thermostat knob (4) is set to the OFF position.

  • Connect the device to the mains’ power.

  • Pour 2 cups of water into the removable inner bowl, turn the thermostat knob (4) to the HIGH position. Allow the device to operate for ±20 minutes.

  • After ± 20 minutes, switch off the device and remove the power plug from the mains power. Allow it to cool down, remove the inner bowl from the device and discard the water.

POWER ON/OFF

| • When the device is connected to the mains power, make sure that the thermostat knob (4) is set to the OFF position.
• Turn the thermostat knob (4) to the desired cooking mode (low – high – warm).
• Once a mode has been selected, there is no time limit.
• To switch off the device, make sure that the thermostat knob (4) is set to the OFF position.
• Then remove the power plug from the mains power.

COOKING

  • Before each use, make sure the device, removable inner bowl, and glass lid are clean and dry.

  • Place the device on a flat, stable surface, in a place where it cannot fall over.

  • It is advisable to place a heat-resistant covering between the table and the device, to prevent the heat from leaving marks on your table.

  • When connecting the device to the mains power, make sure that the thermostat knob (4) is set to the OFF position.

  • Switch ON the device using the thermostat knob (4), turning it to the desired cooking mode.
    • Low => slow cook, average cooking time recipe 8 -10 hours. There is no time limit.
    • High => slow cook, average cooking time recipe 4- 6 hours.There is no time limit.
    • Warm = > Keep the prepared food warm. There is no time limit.

  • Do not preheat the removable inner bowl!

  • When using the device for the first time, a slight odor and smoke might occur, this is normal. The odor and smoke will disappear after a few minutes.

  • Never place frozen foodstuffs in the device (bowl) for cooking. First, allow them to defrost.

  • Keep raw meat and poultry away from cooked foods and make sure you
    disinfect parts that have come in contact with raw meat or poultry.

  • Place foodstuffs into the removable inner bowl.Caution: Never overfill the inner bowl.

  • Use the handle to remove the glass lid from the device and place it on a stable, horizontal, flat, and heat-resistant surface.
    CAUTION: Prevent burns. Do not touch the glass lid; it is wry hot. When removing the glass lid, use a heatproof stand or coaster and kitchen gloves for extra support.
    CAUTION: Risk of scalding as a result of escaping steam when removing the glass lid. Carefully lift the lid angled away from yourself.
    CAUTION: Present burns. Do not touch the removable inner bowl; it is very hot. When removing the inner bowl, use a heatproof stand or coaster and kitchen gloves for extra support.
    CAUTION: Prevent burns. Do not touch the inner bowl; it is very hot. When removing foodstuffs, remove the food from the inner bowl and place it on a plate or dish.

  • Do not use metal items to remove food from the inner bowl. This prevents scratches and prevents the inner bowl from being damaged.

  • Switch OFF the device if you are not going to continue using it and remove the plug from the power socket.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the device after each use.
  • Switch OFF the device, remove the plug from the power socket and allow the device to cool down fully (± 30 minutes).
  • Never immerse the device in water or any other liquid.
  • Clean the casing and insides with a damp cloth
  • Clean the removable inner bowl & glass lid with a plastic washing-up brush in warm water and washing-up liquid.
  • Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning materials, a scouring sponge, or steel wool; this damages the device and will scratch and damage the materials.
  • Thoroughly dry the base, removable inner bowl, and glass lid.
  • Re-assemble the device in such a way that the removable inner bowl and glass lid are back in place on the device.
  • DO NOT store any metal accessories inside the removable inner bowl, as these could damage the bowl.
  • Do not clean the removable inner bowl and glass lid in the dishwasher. For optimum service life and in order to avoid possible discoloration of the materials, we recommend hand washing these parts in warm soapy water.
  • Store the device in a dry place.

  • When storing the device, it should first be cleaned in accordance with this user manual. The device should be stored in its original packaging.
  • Always store the device in a dry and well-ventilated room and beyond the reach of children.
  • Protect the device against vibrations and shocks during transport.
