SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The following precautions must always be taken into consideration before using the “Magnani – Popcorn maker”, hereinafter referred to as the ‘device’.
WARNING!
Some of these device parts and accessories can become hot. Do not touch
these parts to avoid burning yourself.
General information
- Read the instructions for use carefully and keep them safe. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on this manual.
- Only use this device in accordance with the instructions in this user manual.
- This device can be used by children aged 8 and over and people with restricted physical, sensory or mental capacity or a lack of experience and expertise, provided they are under supervision or have been given instructions about safely using the device and are aware of the potential hazards. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be done by children unless they are over the age of 8 and under supervision.
- Keep the device and power cord out of the reach of children below the age of 8 years.
- This device is intended for domestic or similar use, not for professional use.
- WARNING! Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children. Risk of suffocation!
Electricity and heat
- Prior to use, check that the mains voltage is the same as the mains voltage stated on the name plate of the device.
- Make sure your hands are dry before touching the device, power cord or plug.
- Plug the power plug into an earthed electrical outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
- WARNING! Never cover the power plug, cable, electric base or device with cloths, curtains or any other material in order to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.
- Make sure that the device and power cable do not come into contact with heat sources, like a hot hob or naked flame.
- The device must be able to dispel its heat in order to prevent the risk of fire. Therefore, make sure the device has sufficient free space around it (at least 20 cm on all sides) and do not place the device against and/or on or near combustible materials.
- Check the power cord regularly for damage.
- Never use the device if the power cord shows signs of damage, if the device has fallen on the ground or shows any other signs of damage.
- Switch OFF the device and remove the power plug if you discover any faults during use, find any signs of damage, are not using the device or are cleaning it.
- Make sure the power cord cannot be trodden on or pinched.
- Do not allow the power cord to hang over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and naked flames.
- When plugging in the power plug, make sure people cannot accidentally pull it out or trip over it.
- Remove the power plug from the power socket during lightning storms or if unused for long periods of time.
- When removing the plug from the power socket, pull the plug itself, not the cable.
- Do not operate the device using an external time switch or a separate remote control system.
- Use a 10 amp cable if an extension cable is required. Cables with a lower amp rating may burn out.
- When using an extension cable, make sure it is completely extended.
- WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, protect the device from dripping or splashing water and keep away from objects filled with liquids, such as vases. Such objects should not be placed on or near the device.
Use
- Do not use the device in the vicinity of flammable materials.
- Do not leave the device unattended when it is in use.
- This device is not a toy and should be kept under strict supervision to prevent children from using the device as a toy.
- Do not allow children to clean or maintain this device unsupervised.
- Never allow children to use domestic appliances as toys or without supervision. Children are unable to judge the hazards associated with incorrectly using electric appliances.
- Children in the vicinity of the device must always be supervised by an adult.
- Always ensure the device is properly assembled before use.
- Place the device on a flat and stable surface, in a place where it cannot fall over.
- Do not lean on the device.
- Maintain a clearance of at least 30 cm around the device. This prevents damage from heat or escaping steam.
- When operating, do not touch the integrated aluminium cup with heating element.
- WARNING! Do not use hands or any other body parts to feel the temperature of the device or of the hot air coming out of the popping chamber while cooking.
- Do not use the device without the popping chamber and top cover placed on the device.
- Only use the top cover and popping chamber of the device. Do not use any other top cover and popping chamber.
- Do not use a damaged top cover and popping chamber.
- It is advisable to place a heat-resistant covering between the table, device and the front of the popping chamber, to prevent the heat from leaving marks on your table.
- Never move the device when it is switched ON or still warm. First switch OFF the device and only move it when it has cooled down.
- DO NOT TOUCH! The top cover and popping chamber of the device become hot during use.
- Only use heat resistant tools featuring a handle that is well insulated against heat.
- If using plastic utensils, do not leave them in/on the device when it is hot!
- Wear oven gloves when handling the device during and immediately after use and use heat resistant utensils when checking food.
- Do not use sharp objects in the aluminium cup and popping chamber. These damage the surfaces.
- Note! The Continuous Operation Time (CIT) = 5 minutes.
- Note! To prevent the device from overheating, wait ± 10 minutes between each consecutive quantity of popcorn.
- Beware of scalding as a result of escaping steam. During cooking, moisture of the corn kernels can turn into steam. Turn the corn outlet away from you, so that steam will not come into contact with your skin.
- During cooking, beware of popping out popcorn. Turn the corn outlet away from you, so that the hot air & popcorn will not come into contact with your skin.
- WARNING! This device is NOT intended to be used in humid indoor locations.
- All parts of this device that come into contact with food are food safe.
- Clean the device thoroughly after use (see “cleaning and maintenance”).
- When in use and when stored, do not place anything other on top of the device.
- Avoid locations subject to vibrations, cold or humidity.
- Do not expose the device to direct sunlight, heat sources, excessive humidity or corrosive environments.
- Do not place the device under any mechanical stress.
- Improper use of the device could damage the product.
- Please handle the device carefully. Impacts or falls, even from a low height, can damage the device.
- WARNING! Do not open the casing as this may result in electric shock.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device or modify it in any manner.
- The device must be serviced if it has been damaged in any way, i.e. the power supply cord/plug is damaged; liquid has been spilled; objects have fallen into it; it has been exposed to rain or moisture; it has been dropped or does not operate properly.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning solvents to clean the device.
- Do not use foreign objects to clean the device.
- This device is intended for domestic purposes only, not for professional use.
Important information, follow these instructions

- Only use the device indoors, in dry areas, and not in the vicinity of water, other liquids or humidity.
- Do not use the device if it, the cable or the power plug has fallen into water or any kind of fluid.
- Never immerse the device, cable, and power plug in water or any kind of fluid.
- Do not pick up the device if it has fallen into water or any kind of fluid. Remove the plug from the power socket immediately. Do not use the device again.
- Parts of the device can become hot. Do not touch these parts to avoid burning yourself.
INSTALLING AND USING THE DEVICE
Open the packaging carefully before taking out the device. Make sure the device is complete and undamaged. If any components are missing or damaged, contact the vendor and do not use the product. Retain the packaging or recycle it in accordance with local regulations.
Parts & features of the device

First use
- Remove the device and accessories from the box. Remove any stickers, protective film or plastic from the device.
- Before you use the device for the first time, clean the base with a damp cloth and rinse all the removable parts with a soapy water.
- Thoroughly dry the base, and all removable parts.
- Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning materials, a scouring sponge or steel wool; these damage the device.
- Place the popping chamber 2 on the main body 3 , then place the top cover 1 on the popping chamber.
- Place the device on a flat, stable surface, in a place where it cannot fall over.
- Make sure that the power switch 4 is set at the “O” position.
- Connect the device to the mains power.
Power ON/OFF
- Make sure the power plug is connected to the mains power.
- Power on the device by switching the power switch 4 to the “I” position.
- The device will heat up instantly, preheating is not necessary.
- To power off the device, switch the power switch 4 to the “O” position.
- Then remove the power plug from the mains power.
Cooking
- Before each use, make sure the top cover 1 , popping chamber 2 and main body 3 are clean and dry.
- Place the device on a flat, stable surface, in a place where it cannot fall over.
- Make sure that the power switch 4 is set to the “O” position.
- Take the top cover (with integrated measuring cup) 1 off the popping chamber 2 and fill the measuring cup with corn kernels. Do not overfill (MAX mark) the measuring cup!
WARNINGS!
- Only use dry corn kernels.
- DO NOT USE MICROWAVE POPCORN.
- Do not put ingredients like sugar, oil, butter, salt, margarine etc. in the aluminium cup of the main body or popping chamber. Such substances will stick to the aluminium cup or popping chamber and will damage the device.
- Empty the measuring cup through the top of the popping chamber 2 in the aluminium cup of the main body 3.
- Place the top cover 1 back on the popping chamber 2 .
- CAUTION! Beware of scalding as a result of escaping steam. During cooking, the moisture of the corn kernels can turn into steam. Turn the corn outlet away from you, so that steam will not come into contact with your skin.
- Place a large heat-resistant serving bowl underneath the corn outlet of the popping chamber 2 by placing the edge of the serving bowl against casing 3 of the device. It is important that the popcorn ejects down the corn outlet into the serving bowl and is not re-directed, blocked or otherwise interfered with.
- Power on the device by switching the power switch 4 to the “I” position.
- The device will heat up instantly, preheating is not necessary.
- After a few moments, the corn kernels will turn into popcorn due to the heat and will be ejected in the serving bowl via the corn outlet of the popping chamber 2 . This process will take ± 3 minutes.
- WARNING! The air and popcorn ejected from the corn outlet will be hot. Do not block the corn outlet with body parts (such as hands or fingers), as this can cause burns.
- To prevent the device from overheating, do not use the device for more than 5 minutes while cooking the popcorn.
- To prevent the device from overheating, wait ± 10 minutes between each consecutive quantity of popcorn.
- Use a paper towel to remove all residues from the popping chamber 2, before starting with another quantity of popcorn.
- WARNING! Do not put any other ingredients than dry corn in the aluminum cup of the main body 3.
- WARNING! Danger to life from burning. Do not leave children unattended with the device, as improper use can cause it to fall over and cause severe burns.
- CAUTION! Prevent burns. Do not touch the top cover, popping chamber or the aluminum cup of the main body; they are very hot. When removing, use kitchen gloves for extra support.
- Do not use metal items to remove dirt or grease from the aluminum cup of the main body or popping chamber. This prevents the popping chamber and aluminium cup from being damaged. Use a damp cloth or paper to remove dirt or grease from the popping chamber and aluminum cup.
Flavoring
You can flavor your popcorn by adding 2-3 teaspoons of melted butter. Pour the
melted butter over the popcorn in the serving bowl. Stir or sprinkle salt or
sugar according to your taste.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Clean the device after each use.
- Switch the power switch to the “O” position, remove the plug from the mains power and allow the device to cool down fully (± 30 minutes).
- Never immerse the device in water or any other liquid.
- Clean the main body, aluminium cup and power cable with a damp cloth.
- For stubborn stains, pour a few drops of mild detergent onto the damp cloth.
- Clean the top cover and popping chamber in warm water and washing-up liquid.
- Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning materials, a scouring sponge or steel wool; these damages the device and will scratch and damage the non-stick materials.
- Thoroughly dry the main body and its aluminium cup, popping chamber, top cover & power cable.
- Re-assemble the device in such a way that the popping chamber is put back on the main body first, after which the top cover is placed on the popping chamber.
- Do not store any metal accessories in the aluminium cup or popping chamber of the device.
- Do not clean the device (main body, popping chamber and top cover) in the dishwasher.
- Store the device in a dry place.
