Read these instructions carefully before using your microwave oven. If you follow the instructions, your oven will provide you with many years of good service.

PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY

•  Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open door  operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks.
•  Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allows soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.
•  Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the:
  •  DOOR (bent)
  •  HINGES AND LATCHES (broken or loosened)
  • DOOR SEALS AND SEALING SURFAC
• The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel.

1.  Read all instructions before using the appliance.

3.  This appliance must be grounded. Connect only to properly grounded outlet. See “GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS” found on page  4a.
4.  Install or locate this appliance only in accordance with the provided installation instructions.
5.  Some products, such as whole eggs and sealed containers – for example – are able to explode and should not be heated in this oven.
6.  Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in the manual. Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven is specifically designed to heat, cook or dry food. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use.

8. Do not operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped.

17.  Do not overcook food. Carefully attend to appliances when paper, plastic, or other combustible materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking.
18.  Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before placing bag in the oven.
19.  If material inside of the oven ignites, keep the oven door closed, turn the oven off, and disconnect the power cord, or shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
20.  Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave paper products, cooking utensils, or food in the cavity when not in use.
21.  Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present.

THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUID SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.
To reduce the risk of injury to persons:

1.  Do not overheat the liquid.
2.  Stir the liquid both before and halfway through heating it.
3.  Do not use straight-sided containers with narrow necks.
4. After heating, allow the container to stand in the microwave oven for a short time before removing the container.
5.  Use extreme care when inserting a spoon or other utensil into the containe

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug.  The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.

WARNING – Improper use of the grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-blade grounded plug, and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the appliance. The marked rating of the extension cord shall be equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance.

DANGER – Electric Shock Hazard
Touching some of the internal components can cause serious personal injury or death. Do not disassemble this appliance.

WARNING – Electric Shock Hazard
Improper use of the grounding can result in electric shock. Do not plug into an outlet until the appliance is properly installed and grounded.

1.  A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2.  Longer cord sets or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3.  If a long cord or extension cord is used:
4.  The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
5.  The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.

RADIO INTERFERENCE

1.  The operation of the microwave oven may cause interference to your radio, TV equipment.
2. When there is interference, it may be reduced or eliminated by taking the following measures:
3.  Clean door and sealing surface of the oven
4.  Reorient the receiving antenna of radio or television.
5.  Relocate the microwave oven with respect to the receiver.
6.  Move the microwave oven away from the receiver.
7.  Plug the microwave oven into a different outlet so that the microwave oven is on different branch circuits.

UTENSILS

CAUTION – Personal Injury Hazard
Tightly-closed utensils could explode. Closed containers should be opened and plastic pouches should be pierced before cooking. See the instructions on “Materials you can use in microwave oven or to be avoided in a microwave oven.” There may be certain non-metallic utensils that are not safe to use for microwaving. If in doubt, you can test the utensil in question following the procedure below.

Utensil Test

1.  Fill a microwave-safe container with 1 cup of cold water (250ml) along with the utensil in question.
2.  Cook on maximum power for 1 minute.
3.  Carefully feel the utensil. If the empty utensil is warm, do not use it for microwave cooking.
4.  Do not exceed 1 minute of cooking time.

SETTING UP YOUR OVEN

Names of Oven Parts and Accessories
Remove the oven and all materials from the carton and oven cavity. Your oven comes with the following accessories:

• Glass tray
• Turntable ring assembly
• Instruction Manual

•  Control panel
•  Turntable shaft
•  Turntable ring assembly
•  Glass tray
•  Observation window
•  Door assembly
•  Safety interlock system

Turntable Installation

•  Never place the glass tray upside down. The glass tray should never be restricted.
•  Both glass tray and turntable ring assembly must always be used during cooking.
•  All food and containers of food are always placed on the glass tray for cooking.
•  If glass tray or turntable ring assembly cracks or breaks, contact your nearest authorized service center.

Countertop Installation
Remove all packing material and accessories. Examine the oven for any damage such as dents or broken door. Do not install if oven is damaged.

Cabinet : Remove any protective film found on the microwave oven cabinet surface. Do not remove the light brown Mica cover that is attached to the oven cavity to protect the magnetron.

Installation

1.  Select a level surface that provide enough open space for the intake and/or outlet vents.

A minimum clearance of 3.0 inches (7.5cm) is required between the oven and any adjacent walls. One side must be open.

1.  Leave a minimum clearance of 12 inches (30cm) above the oven.
2.  Do not remove the legs from the bottom of the oven.
3.  Blocking the intake and/or outlet openings can damage the oven.
4.  Place the oven as far away from radios and TV as possible. The operation of a microwave oven may cause interference to your radio or TV reception.
5. Plug your oven into a standard household outlet. Be sure the voltage and the frequency is the same as the voltage and the frequency on the rating label.

WARNING : Do not install oven over a range cooktop or other heat- producing appliance. If installed near or over a heat source, the oven could be damaged and the warranty would be void.

OPERATION

Power Level
10 power levels are available.

Clock Setting

1.  Press ” Clock  ” once, and “00:00” will display.

2.  Press the number keys and enter the current time. For example, time is 10:12 now, please press “1,0,1,2” in turn.

3.  Press ” Clock  ” to finish the clock setting. “:” will flash and the clock will be lighted.

4.  If the numbers input are not within the range of 1:00–12:59, the setting will be invalid until valid numbers are input.
   Note: (1) In the process of clock setting, if the ” Off/Cancel  ” button is pressed or if there is no operation within 1 minute, the oven will go back to the former setting automatically.

5. If the clock needs to be reset, please repeat step 1 to step 3.

Microwave cook

1. Press “COOK TIME ” once, the screen will display “00:00”.
2.  Press number keys to input the cooking time; the maximum cooking time is 99 minutes and 99 seconds.
3.  Press ” POWER LEVEL ” once, the screen will display “PL10”. The default power is 100%  powe r.  Now you can press the number keys to adjust the power level.
4.  Press ” START/ Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to start cooking.

Example : to cook the food with 50% microwave power for 15 minutes.

•  Press “COOK TIME ” once.”00:00″ displays.
•  Press “1”,”5″,”0″,”0″ in order.
•  Press “POWER LEVEL “once, then press “5” to select 50% microwave power.
• Press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to start cooking.

Note:In the process of setting, if the “Off/Cancel ” button is pressed or if there is no operation within 1 minute, the oven will go back to the former setting automatically. You can skip the step of “c” and cook at 100% microwave power.

Kitchen Timer

1.  Press ” Kitchen Timer ” once, the screen will display 00:00.
2.  Press the number keys and enter the timer time.(the maximum cooking time is 99 minutes and 99 seconds)
3.  Press “(3) Press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to confirm the setting, the time counts down.
4.  When the timer time arrives, the buzzer will ring 3 times, screen displays “End”.
   Note: (1) The kitchen time differs from the 12-hour system, Kitchen Timer is a timer.

Kitchen Timer and cooking (including microwave, defrosting, Auto menu) are independent, all the cooking for functions can be set during running Kitchen Timer, Kitchen Timer can be set during running other cooking functions.

Example : When oven is cooking with 50% microwave power for 15 minutes, screen display countdown cooking time, you want to set timer 10 minutes.

1.  Press “Kitchen Timer ” once, the screen will display 00:00.
2.  Press the number keys and enter the timer time.If no entering timer in 10 seconds, the timer set is canceled and the oven returns to countdown cooking time.
3.  Press “START/Enter/Add 30 Sec.  “, the timer is operated. The timer counts down in  If no press ” START/Enter/Add 30 ” in 10 secon ds , ti mer set i s can celed and the oven return to countdown cooking time.
4. If the timer countdown time is earlier than the end of the cooking process, the buzzer sound 3 times, after the buzzer, the screen displays the remaining cooking time.

If the cooking process is earlier than the end of the program Timer timer, buzzer sound 5 times, screen displays the countdown timer. When the timer time arrives, the buzzer sound 3 times, and the screen display “End”. If the cooking process and the Timer timer finished at the same time, the buzzer sound 5 times, and the screen display “End”

Speedy Cooking

1.  In waiting for the state, instant cooking at 100% power level with 30 seconds’ cooking time can be started by pressing ”  START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. “. Each press on the same button will increase s e  cooking time by 30 seconds. The maximum cooking time is 99 minutes and 99 seconds.
2.  In waiting for the state, press numerical buttons to set the cooking time, then press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to start cooking at 100% power level.
   Note : during microwave cooking and time defrost, time can be added by pressing start/Enter/Add 30 Sec

Weight Defrost Function

1. Press ” Weight Defrost  ” once, the screen will display “0.0”, and “lbs” light.
2.  Press numerical buttons to input weight to be defrosted. Input the weight ranged between 0.3~6.3lbs. If the weight input is not within 0.3~6.3, the input will be invalid.
3.  Press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec ” to start defrosting and the cooking time remained displayed.

Time Defrost Function

1.  Press ” Time Defrost  ” once, the screen will display “00:00”.
2.  Press number pads to input defrosting time.
3. Press ” START/Enter/Add 30 S ec will be displayed.

Auto Menu

1. In waiting state, press “Popcorn”, “Dinner Plate”, “Pizza Reheat”, “Frozen Entree”, “Beverage”, “Soup”, “Fresh Vegetable” ,”Frozen Vegetable” or “Potato” to choose the auto menu.
2.  Press the same pad repeatedly to choose the weight of the food.
3.  Press ” START/Enter “/Add 30 S ec. to start cooking.

Sensor Cook

1.  In waiting for state, press “Dinner Plate”, “Fresh Vegetable” or “Frozen Vegetable”, the screen will display “SC”.
2.  Press ” S T A R T / E n t e r / A d d 3 0 S e c . ” to start sensor cooking. “SC” will flash in the display.
3.  The sensor will sound once when the steaming is emanated.The surplus time will display.

MEMORY FUNCTION

1.  Press “Favorite” to choose the memory 1-3 procedure. The screen will display 1,2,3.
2.  If the procedure has been set, press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to use it. If not,  continue t o set the procedure. Only one or two stages can be set.
3. If the procedure has not been set, after finishing the setting, press ” Favorite” once to save the procedure and turn back to the waiting states. If press START/Enter /Add 30 Sec. ” it will start cooking at once and save the procedure too.
   Example : to set the following procedure as the second memory, that is memory 2. to cook the food with 80% microwave power for 3minutes and 20 seconds.

The steps are as follows:

•  In waiting states, press “Favorite” twice, stop pressing until the screen displays “2”.
•  Press “COOK TIME ” once,then press “3”,”2″,”0″ in order.
•  Press ” POWER LEVEL ” once,”PL10″ display,then press “8” and “PL8” displays.
•  Press “Favorite” to save the setting. The buzzer sounds once then turn back to the waiting states. If you press “START/Enter/Add 30 Sec.  ” again, the procedure will be  saved as th e  memory 2 and operated.
•  If the electricity is not cut off, the procedure will be saved all the time. If it is, the procedure needs to reset.
•  When you want to run the saved procedure, in the waiting states, press ” Favorite” twice, the screen displays “2”, then press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec. ” to start cooking}
  Note: Defrosting and Auto menu can not be set in the memory function.

Multi-stage cooking

At most 2 stages can be set for cooking. In multi-stage cooking, if one stage is defrosting, then defrosting shall be placed at the first stage automatically.

Note : Auto menu cannot work in the multi-stage cooking.

For example : if you want to cook with 80% microwave power for 5 minutes

• 60% microwave power for 10 minutes. The cooking steps are as following:

  1.  Press “COOK TIME ” once,then press “5”,”0″,”0″ to set the cooking time;
  2.  Press ” POWER LEVEL” once,then press “8” to select 80% microwave power.
  3.  Press “COOK TIME” once,then press “1”,”0″,”0″,”0″ to set the cooking time;
  4.  Press ” POWER LEVEL” once,then press “6” to select 60% microwave power.
  5.  Press ” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec ” to start cooking.

INQUIRING FUNCTION

1. In the microwave cooking state, press ” POWER LEVEL  “to inquire about the microwave power level, and the current microwave power will be displayed. After three seconds, the oven will turn back  to its previous state.
2.  In the cooking state, press ” CLOCK “, the oven will display the clock for three seconds.

English/French Mode
The default language mode is English Mode. In waiting state, open the door and then  press “1” for 3 seconds to switch language mode. There are 2 kinds of language mode  you can choose.

Silence Mode
The default mode is OFF Mode , and the buzzer will ring under special circumstances. In waiting state, open the door and then press”2″ for 3 seconds to enter to Silence Mode. The buzzer will ring under no circumstance.

LOCK FUNCTION FOR CHILDREN

• Lock: In waiting for state, press ” Off/Cancel ” for 3 seconds, there will be a long “beep”denoting the entering into the children-lock state, and the lock indictor will light.The screen will display the current time or “0:00” .
• Unlock: In a locked state, press ” Off/Cancel ” for 3 seconds, there will be a long”beep” denoting that lock is released.

DOOR LOCK FUNCTION
If the oven in a non-working state for over 5 m inutes, it will activate the door lock function. You cannot press” START/Enter/Add 30 Sec ” to start cooking unless you open door and then close door.

Note : The “kitchen Timer” function is not affected by the door lock function.

COOKING END REMINDING FUNCTION
When the cooking is over, the buzzer will sound 5 “beeps” to alert user that the cooking is finished.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

1. The maximum cooking time is 99 minutes and 99 seconds.
2.  When the cooking is finished, the screen will display “End” or “Fin”.Opening the door or pressing ” Off/Cancel  ” can make the oven enter waiting for state.

Oven will not start

Microwave Warranty

WARRANTY COVERAGE
FORTÉ microwave parts will be warrantied for one year from the original purchase date for the original purchaser of the product.

TERMS
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the product installed for normal residential use. This is defined as a single-family, residential dwelling in a non-commercial setting. Commercial settings include but are not limited to: schools, churches, hotels, restaurants, vacation rentals such as Airbnb, daycare centers, private clubs, fire stations, common areas in multi- family dwellings, nursing homes, food service locations, and institutional food service locations such as hospitals or correction facilities. This warranty is non-transferable and will not be extended based on the date of installation. The warranty applies only to products installed in the continental United States and the District of Columbia. Warranty shall not apply and FORTÉ is not responsible for damage resulting from negligence, improper maintenance, misuse, abuse, alteration of or tampering with the appliance, accident, natural disaster, improper electric supply, unauthorized service or repair, improper installation, or installation not in accordance with the instructions contained in the manual or the local codes.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED

1.  Installation or start-up damages or problems caused by improper installation or use.
2.  Damage related to unauthorized service or unauthorized parts.
3.  Installation in any commercial or non-residential application.
4.  Aesthetic damage, scratches, or natural wear caused by normal use.
