Base station
- Connect the attached power adapter to the base station.
- Remove the battery insulation strip at the bottom of the station.
Important! It may take up to 10 minutes before measured values from the transmitters appear on the display.
Step 2 | Connect the station to the Internet and the TFA VIEW App
(optional)
Download
Download the free TFA VIEW App from the “Apple App Store” or “Google Play Store”.
Launch software
- Open the TFA VIEW App and follow the on-screen instructions.
- After you have created an account and started the app, select „Devices“ in the menu. There you can add, remove or sort compatible VIEW devices. You can add transmitters or stations with the „Add device“ button in the iOS app or the blue „+“ button in the Android app (see page 7).
- Now follow the instructions and steps exactly as given by the app.
Get your base station ready
Ensure your station’s Wi-Fi symbol is flashing. If it is not, press and hold
the + and SET buttons at the same time until the symbol begins flashing. Your
station is now ready to connect to the internet
and the TFA VIEW App.
Having trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi?
First make sure that your mobile device on which you have installed the VIEW
App is connected to the 2.4 GHz network of your Wi-Fi router and that you have
entered the correct password for your Wi-Fi. For details on how to connect to
your router’s 2.4 GHz network, refer to your router documentation. For more
troubleshooting tips and support visit: www.tfa-dostmann.de/en/service
/frequently-asked-questions/
Note: Transmitters that were already linked to the VIEW station before
the connection are suggested as additional devices in the notification area of
the app after a few minutes in order to add them to the app. Only if a
transmitter is added later (or was not automatically detected during the
connection), select the device management „Devices“ in the app menu. There you
can scan and add individual transmitters. They will be received by the VIEW
station and forwarded to the server/app.

Overview of the functions of your VIEW weather station with and without an Internet connection
Transmitter for temperature and humidity
The transmitter is used to monitor temperature and humidity. When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the transmitter. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.
Wind meter
Ensure the wind sensor is mounted vertically. Mount the wind sensor onto a roof or mast so the wind can reach the sensor unobstructed from all directions. Ideally, you should position the wind meter so that it represents the highest object in the immediate vicinity. This gives you the most accurate measurement results.
Add additional transmitters
Whether you choose to connect to the Internet and the TFA View app or not,
this station has the ability to display data for up to 4 additional
transmitters. For a complete list of all compatible transmitters, please visit
www.tfa-dostmann.de/view/.
Connect additional transmitters to your station:
- Press and hold the EXTRA button until the transmitter symbol is flashing.
- Insert the batteries in the transmitter you wish to add. If the transmitter has a TX button, press it to force a transmission signal.
- Your transmitter should connect within the next 3 minutes, briefly displaying its ID and type. The transmitter symbol changes from flashing back to a static display.
- Press the EXTRA button to switch between the displays of each transmitter.
- To add more transmitters or devices to the TFA VIEW App, go to the App menu in the section Add / Change then tap on Device and then tap on Add Device. Finally, please scan the code of the new transmitter or device. Alternatively, you can also enter the device’s code.
Important! When first powering up, or after a factory restart, additional transmitters which have already been activated are automatically connected to the base station.
Important display symbols
- WI-FI symbol

Tells you the reception strength of the connection between the transmitters and the base station. The symbol flashes when the base station is in transmitter search mode.
