Ultrasound Technology
Ambient air which is took dry increases vulnerability to infections and
respiratory diseases and also leads to fatigue as well as lapses in
concentration. Clean air should have a relative humidity of be-tween 40 and
55%. The quiet, energy-saving ultrasonic technology in the humidifier converts
water into a fine mist through vibrations which increases the humidity of the
air. This improves the air quality and prevents mucosal membranes and skin
from drying out. The capacity of the device is designed for a room 30 m² in
area. Adjust the humidity level to the size of the room using the mist
intensity control dial 8 . Please follow the cleaning and care instructions.
CAUTION
Excessive intensive use can result in an oversaturation of the ambient air
which can precipitate on walls, windows and objects in the room. It is
therefore necessary to regularly check using a hygrometer that the relative
humidity does not exceed 55%.
CAUTION
Ensure that the humidifier is secured against toppling over and operated on a
moisture-resistant surface. Precipitation/accumilation can occur particularly
when us-ing mineral water/aromatic essences. The mist outlet is rotatable.
Ensure that the escaping mist is not directed towards other electrical
devices, furniture or walls.
Filling and Emptying the Water Tank
Remove the water tank 2 from the device and turn it over. Unscrew the cap 4.
Rinse out the water tank and then fill it with max. 4.5 l drinking water. Seal
the tank once again by screwing on the cap. Upturn the water tank and place it
back into the device so that it audibly clicks into place. Do not move the
device when the water tank has been filled. Dispose of the residual water
after use and rinse out the tank with fresh drinking water. Before reusing,
fill the tank with fresh drinking water. If the device is switched off and not
used for a long period, remove the water tank from the device and drain it.
CAUTION
Only use fresh drinking water when using the device. With hard, calcareous
water you can also use demineralised water. Regularly clean the device and
keep free of lime and other contaminants in order to maintain the
functionality of the device.
Switching On and Off
Insert the plug into a properly installed mains socket. Switch the humidifier on by turning the ON/OFF switch and mist intensity control dial 8 from OFF to ON. The integrated indicator light (LED) underneath the water tank illuminates green. The light illumi-nates red when the water tank is empty. Then adjust the connected device, depending on the room requirements, anywhere between the “Low”setting (lowest fan intensity) to the maximum setting,“High” (highest fan intensity). After a few seconds the escaping mist will be visible above the outlet 1. Switch off the device after use, or if only a small amount of water remains in the tank (the indicator light illuminates red), by turning the ON/OFF switch and mist intensity control dial 8 to OFF. The de-vice automatically turns off nebulisation when the water tank is empty.
Operating Time
Operating time is approx. 15 hours at the maximum setting “High” (300 ml/h) and filled with 4500 ml of water.
Troubleshooting
- Device cannot be switched on (LED not illuminated): Connect plug; check the circuit, socket and fuse.
- There is no mist (LED illuminated red): Fill the water tank.
- There is no mist, but the tank is full: Set the control dial 8 to the maximum position “High”; place the device on a flat surface; clean the nebuliser and transducer with the brush supplied and fill the tank with clean water; rinse the device with clean water.
- White deposits: Use clean water or at least 1/2 distilled water / 1/2 fresh tap water. If a fault of the type described cannot be resolved, please contact your service centre.
Cleaning and Care
- With daily use we recommend that the device should be thoroughly cleaned at least every three days. Also clean the device before and after long periods of storage.
- Before cleaning the device, ensure that the device is switched off and the mains plug is disconnected from the socket.
- Remove the water tank from the device and empty out the contents.
- Clean the outside of the device with a damp, soft cloth.
- Do not use any aggressive substances such as, for example, a scouring agent or other cleaning products. This could damage the surface and reduce nebulisation.
- The water tank can be thoroughly rinsed out with warm water (>65 °C) or with at least 75% alcohol solution. Clean
- The ultrasonic transducer is the most sensitive component in the device. It is important that it is clean and handled with care. Use the supplied brush to free the outlets of debris and particles of dirt. Under no circumstances must metallic equipment be used to clean the ultrasonic transducer.
- If the device is not used for a long time, drain the residual water from the water tank and dry the device.
- Lime residue can be removed using a mild descaling agent, e.g. citric acid.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place; ideally in the original packaging.
- Keep the sealing cap from the bottom of the water tank loose to avoid sticking or fixation of the sealing collar.
- To prevent contamination/algae growth from the outset, drain the device and tank prior to long periods of decommis-sion. Disinfect the tank now and then with alcohol solution.
Water Filter / Descaling
Water filter
The AH 660 humidifier is fitted with a water filter. This filter helps to
purify and demineralise water. Depending on the hardness of the water used,
the filter should be changed at least once a month if the unit is used daily.
Proceed as follows: Unscrew the water tank lid and remove the filter from the
lid by turning it anticlockwise. Screw the new filter into the lid in the
opposite direction.
Descaling
When using hard and mineral-rich water, the device must be descaled regularly.
Please only descale using pure citric acid (powder preparation from the
pharmacy)! (No liquid descaling agent! No descaling tablets! No vinegar!)
- Completely drain the device (tank and base). Ensure that no liquid enters the motor opening via the ventilator
- Add 4 tablespoons (approx. 100g) of pure citric acid into the tank and top up with 2000ml of 60 °C water. Screw down the tank and gently shake until the citric acid powder has dissolved.
- Place the tank onto the base. DO NOT SWITCH ON THE DEVICE !
- Allow the descaling solution to cool in the tank/device (at least 3 hours)
- Remove the tank and wipe the inside and nebuliser shaft with the appropriate brush (bottle brush, or similar). Pour out the contents of the tank and rinse well.
- Empty out the base. Ensure that no liquid enters the air outlet. Wipe away persistent limescale with the brush pro-vided , a cloth or cotton swabs. Take care around the ultrasonic transducer!
- Rinse the base well (ensure that no liquid enters the air outlet in the base).
Disposal
Do not throw this thermometer away in ordinary household waste. Consumers are
legally obliged to bring all used batteries, rechargeable or otherwise,
whether they contain harmful substances or not, to a collection site in their
community so that they can be transferred to the proper channels for disposal.
Remove the battery before you dispose of the device. Do not dispose of spent
batteries in domestic waste, but in special waste or at a battery collection
point at your retailer! Contact your local authority or dealer for disposal.
