INSTALLATION

Choosing the installation place

The measuring performance of the balance is greatly influenced by the environment where it is installed. Observe the following points to ensure safe and accurate weighing.

Do not use the balance anywhere exposed to explosive, combustible or corrosive gases. This could cause fire or another kind of serious problems.Use the correct power supply and voltage with the balance. Using an incorrect power supply or voltage with the balance will lead to fire or trouble with the balance. Note also that if the power supply or voltage is unstable or if the power supply capacity is insufficient, it will not be possible to obtain satisfactory performance from the balance. Avoid locations where the balance will be exposed to any of the following

situations

  1. Airflow from an air conditioner, ventilator, door or window.¤ Extreme temperature changes
  2. Vibration from surroundings or nearby equipment
  3. Direct sunlight
  4. Dust, electromagnetic waves or a magnetic field

Install the balance on a strong and stable flat table or floor.

  • Placing the balance in an unstable site could lead to troubles with the balance or injury to users.
  • When selecting the installation site, take into account the combined weight of the balance and the item to be weighed.3

Unpacking and delivery inspection

Check that all of the items indicated below are included in the package, and that nothing has been damaged:

  • Balance
  • Pan
  • Instruction manual
  • Power cable
  • Calibration weight

In case the balance or any component presents any damage due to transport tell it immediately to your transport agent or dealer so that they can make the claims in the correct time limit.

Turning the balance on

  1. Connect the balance to the power supply and press the power switch at the back to its On position (-).
  2. Press On/Off key; display will automatically light on and go through the below sequence:
  3. 8.8.8.8.8.8.
  4. Maximum capacity
  5.  Finally the balance stays in a standby state of showing 0.000g in the display

Note: The initializing sequence depends on the stability of the load cell, thus, the balance must not be located in an unstable surface or near wind blows. When the indicator O flashes in the display, it means the environment is not good for the following operations.

Warming up

Before performing calibration on the balance or measuring its accuracy it is necessary to ensure that the balance is in a stable state. For balance stabilization it is important that environmental temperature is stable. Leave the balance on and in weighing mode for at least half an hour before performing calibration; this is called “warming up”.

Calibration

Perform balance calibration each time after moving it or in case there is obvious tolerance error in weighing. Each balance includes the necessary weight for calibration. Before performing calibration, warm up the balance in advance.

  1. Remove any substance or object from the pan and press TARE key to change displayed value to 0.000g.
  2. Keep pressed CAL key for 3 seconds until “—CAL—“ is displayed.
  3. Then the value of calibration weight will flash on display.
  4. Put the calibration weight on the pan; after a few seconds “——“ will be displayed, wait until the value of calibration weight is shown on display.
  5. Remove the weight; for a few seconds “——“ will be displayed until the balance enters stable weighing mode showing 0.000g.
  6. It is recommended to make this operation twice to achieve the best calibration result.
  7. Lineal calibration: keep pressed CAL key for a 3 seconds until “—CAL—“ is displayed and then the value of calibration weight. Keep pressed PCS key to enter in Lineal calibration mode and follow the instructions on display.

Note: for lineal calibration is necessary the use of several calibration weights. It is recommended to perform lineal calibration only when big tolerance (error) is detected in repeatability or linearity of the balance. It is not recommended to make lineal calibration frequently.

USE OF THE BALANCE

Weighing function

  • Once the balance is warmed up and calibrated, it will stay in weighing mode showing on display 0.000g.
  • Put the sample to be weighed on the pan and when stable the weight of the simple will be displayed.
  • Note: symbol O is stable indicator, when it stops flash, the balance is stable.

Tare function

  1. Place a recipient on the pan; its weight will be displayed.
  2. Press TARE key to change the value on display to 0.000g; this indicates that the weight of the recipient has been deducted.
  3. Place the object or substance to be weighed in the recipient and when the balance stabilizes its weight will be displayed.

Piece counting function

  1. Remove any substance or object from the pan and press TARE key to change displayed value to 0.000g.
  2. Press COU key to enter in counting mode; display will successively show “-
  3. COU- -“, “- – – -“ and “10” (nº reference nº of pieces by default).
  4. Press CAL key to select the desired reference number of pieces (10, 20, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 o 500).
  5. Place the corresponding number of pieces on the pan and press COU key to save setting.
  6. Remove the pieces from the pan and the balance is ready to be used in piece counting mode (weighing unit will change from g to pcs).
  7. Note: In counting mode, the weight of the pieces must be even and the weight of an individual piece should not be less than the readability of the balance.
  8. Press COU key to return to weighing mode.

Weighing unit selection

Press UNIT key to select the desired weighing unit among g (grams), ct (carats), oz (ounces), lb (pounds) and ozt (troy ounces).
The weighing unit by default is g.

Data ouput

Press MENU key to transfer data to computer or printer.

Overload

The weight of the sample cannot exceed the rated maximum capacity of the balance; when exceeded, the upper line “———“ will be displayed. Remove the sample immediately to avoid damages in the balance.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF USE

  • Warming up is necessary before any operation is made to the balance.
  • In TARE mode, the value of the tared object cannot exceed the rated maximum capacity of the balance.
  • Calibration is necessary to ensure a reliable weighing.
  • Switch off the balance when it is not used.
  • It is suggested to turn the round platter clockwise before take it off the balance.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

To get the best results and a higher duration of the balance it is essential to follow the processes of use. Note: All the processes of use mentioned below will not have any value unless you keep a continued and careful maintenance.

  • Please follow the processes of use of this manual.
  • This manual should be available for all users of this equipment.
  • Prevent the balance from sudden movements and knocks, as well as from direct sunlight or air flows. The balance is a precision instrument, you must handle it carefully.
  • The balance has to be plugged to an earth connection and the socket should be handy and ready to unplug the equipment in case of emergency.
  • Never unplug the balance by pulling the wire, do it from the base.
  • Never use the balance in a wedged location as for example a shelf.
  • Never use sharp objects as pens, etc… to press the buttons of the control panel; only use your fingers.
  • Never place on the pan an object heavier than the maximum capacity of the balance, the sensor could be damaged.
  • Neither submerge the balance nor spill liquids on it.
  • When you are not using the balance for a long period of time, lock the rechargeable battery.
  • If any liquid comes into contact with the electric parts of the balance please do immediately disconnect it from the net and send it to the technical service, as soon as possible, for its checking and adjustment.
  • Always use original components and supplies. Other devices can be similar but they can damage the equipment.

Cleaning

  • Never use scourers or substances that can grate for cleaning metallic parts such as stainless steel, aluminium, coatings, etc. as they damage the balance and produce an early ageing of the equipment.
  • Use a fluff-free cloth dampened with soaped water that does not contain abrasives.

ATTENTION!! IF EQUIPMENTS ARE NOT PROPERLY CLEAN AND DISINFECTED THEY WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REPAIR BY OUR TECHNICAL SERVICE.
