SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read the enclosed safety warnings, the additional safety warnings and the instructions. Failure to follow the safety warnings and the instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save the safety warnings and the instructions for future reference. GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

• Work area safety
  

  • Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

• Electrical safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
    tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
    

  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
    shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

  •  Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

  •  Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.

  • Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

  •  When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk
    of electric shock.

  • If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device

  • (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

• Personal safety

  •  Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool
    may result in personal injury.

  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

  • If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust related hazards.

  • Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second

• Power tool use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

  •  Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

  •  Disconnect the plug from the power source and/ or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety
    measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

  •  Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate
    the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

  •  Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the
    power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

  •  Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

  •  Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the
    work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

  •  Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe
    handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

• Battery tool use and care

  • Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

  •  Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

  •  When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

  •  Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

  •  Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.

  •  Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130 °C may cause an explosion.
    NOTE The temperature „130 °C“ can be replaced by the temperature „265 °F“.

  •  Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions.

  • Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

•   Service

  •  Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
  •  Never service damaged battery packs. service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
    

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

•  NEVER SPRAY AT PERSONS – Never aim the nozzle at another person or animal. Never allow the spray to come into direct contact with the skin.
• FLASH POINT – This spray gun must not be used for spraying flammable paints and solvents with a flash point of less than 32 °C
•  VENTILATION – Always make sure that there is adequate ventilation in the work area when spraying.
•  BASKET NOZZLE – Always keep the spray basket nozzle in place during use.
•  CONSIDER WORK AREA ENVIRONMENT – Do not use spray guns where there is a risk of fire or explosion.
• BEWARE OF ANY HAZARD – Beware of any Hazard by the material being sprayed and consult the markings on the container or the information supplied by the manufacturer.
• DO NOT SPRAY – Do not spray any material where the hazard is not known.
• USE EYE PROTECTION – Always use appropriate eye protection to keep hazardous vapours or fumes out of the eyes.
• WEAR A MASK – Never operate a spray gun without wearing a face mask.
• PROTECT YOUR EARS – Wear ear protectors if the sound pressure exceeds 85 dB(A).
• MAINTAIN YOUR TOOLS – Keep your spray gun, paint container and nozzles clean. Do not clean with flammable liquids with a flash point less than 32 °C Inspect the mains lead periodically and if damaged have it replaced by a qualified person.
• NAKED FLAMES – Never spray near a naked flame or appliance pilot flame.
• SMOKING – Never smoke whilst spraying.
• THINNING – Always read the paint manufacturers thinning recommendations or instructions before using paint or other materials.
• DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY – Always disconnect battery when filling the paint container or cleaning the spray gun.
• SWITCH OFF WHEN NOT SPRAYING – Avoid running the unit with the flow rate knob fully closed for any length of time. Beaware of your surroundings when spraying outside, wind can cause un-intentional spraying of your surroundings

Immediately switch off the spray gun when:

• Defect switch.
• Smoke or stench of scorched isolation

SAFETY WARNINGS FOR BATTERY

•  Do not open the battery. Danger of shortcircuiting.
•  Protect the battery against heat, e. g., against continuous intense sunlight, fire, water, and moisture. Danger of explosion.
•  In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system.
•  Use the battery only in conjunction with your Vonroc product. This measure alone protects the battery against dangerous overload.
•  The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit can occur and the battery can burn, smoke, explode or overheat.

SAFETY WARNINGS FOR CHARGER Intended use

Charge only CD801AA and CD803AA type rechargeable Battery packs with the charger. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.

•  The appliance is not to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction.
•  Children being supervised not to play with the appliance.
•  Do not recharging non-rechargeable batteries!
•  During charging, batteries must be placed in the well ventilated area!

Electrical safety

• Always check that the voltage of the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
• Do not use the machine if the mains cable or the mains plug is damaged.
• Only use extension cables that are suitable for the power rating of the machine with a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm2. If you use an extension cable reel, always fully unroll the cable.

Intended use
The spray gun is intended for painting and varnishing work in a domestic setting. The spray gun is suitable for water, oil and solvent based paint/ varnish/stains, It is recommended to use environmentally friendly paints and solvents. Only use the spray gun for its intended purpose. Do not use the machine to do other things outside of the described scope in this manual. The machine product is not intended for professional or industrial use. Be aware of the safety warnings and do not use the later products, acid coating product, granula, products, corrosive products, caustic products. It is also not intended to use for spraying plant protection products for the treatment of plants or garden, as well as for spraying paint, ink or other materials on human or animal body.

• The vibration emission level stated in this instruction manual has been measured in accordance with a standardized test given in EN 62841; it may be used to compare one tool with another and as
  a preliminary assessment of exposure to vibration when using the tool for the applications mentioned.

•  Using the tool for different applications, or with different or poorly maintained accessories, may significantly increase the exposure level.

• The times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job, may significantly reduce the exposure level

ASSEMBLY

1. Before any work on the power tool, remove the battery.
2. The battery must be charged before first use.

Inserting the battery into the machine

1. Ensure that the exterior of the battery is clean and dry before connecting to the charger or machine.
2.  Insert the battery (4) into the base of the machine as shown in
3.  Push the battery further forward until it clicks into place.

Removing the battery from the machine

1.  Push the battery unlock button (5)
2.  Pull the battery (4) out of the machine like shown in Fig. C-1.

Checking the battery charging status

• To check the battery charge status, push the button (28) on battery shortly.
• The battery has 3 lights indicating the charge level, the more lights that burn, the more charge the battery has left.
• When the lights are not burning it means the battery is empty and must be charged immediately

Charging the battery with the charger

•  Take the battery (4) from the machine.
•  Turn the battery (4) to upside down position and slide it onto the charger (30) as shown in
•  Push the battery until it is fully pushed into the slot.
•  Plug the charger plug into an electrical outlet and wait for a while. The LED indicators on the charger (31) will lighten up and show the charger
  status.

The charger has 2 LED indicators (29) which indicate the status of the charging process

• Fully charging the 2Ah battery may take up to 60 minutes.
• Fully charging the 4Ah battery may take up to 120 minutes. After the battery is fully charged remove the charger plug from the outlet and remove the battery from the charger
• When the machine is not being used over a longer period of time it is best to store the battery in charged condition

Connecting the motor unit to the spray unit (Fig. D)

• With one hand hold the motor unit (8) straight up and with the other hand place the spray unit (7) on a 90˚ angle onto the motor unit (8). Like show in figure D.
•  Align the spray unit (7) slot with the notch inside the motor unit (8). Rotate the spray unit (7) 90 degrees down until you hear a click

Disconnecting the motor unit and spray unit (Fig. E.)

Hold the motor unit (8) and press the disconnect latch (6) in the direction to the spray unit (7) and turn 90˚ degrees to take off the spray unit (7).

•  To connect: Align the container (11) with the container cap(10) and tighten.
•  To disconnect: Loosen the container (11) from the container cap (10)

Replacing the nozzle and nozzle needle

The nozzle will be assembled on the spray gun when taken out of the box. To replace the nozzle follow the following steps.

•  Loosen the nozzle nut (17) and remove it.
•  Take out the nozzle head (15) and Nozzle (14) from the machine.
•  Loosen the nozzle needle (13) by using the needle key (18) like show in figure I.
•  Take the new nozzle needle (24 or 26) and place it back in the spray unit and tighten by using the nozzle key (18)
•  Take the new nozzle (25 or 27) and attach it to the nozzle head (15)
•  Place the nozzle head (15) and nozzle assembly back in the spray unit
•  Close it by tightening the Nozzle nut (17).

OPERATION

Preparing the spray gun for use

Step 1: Viscosity/diluting of the paint This appliance can process spray materials up to max. 70 DIN/sec (viscosity). Low-viscosity coating substances, water- and solvent-based paints, finishes, primers, 2-component paint, clear finishes, staining sealers and wood sealer preservatives often do not need diluting. High-viscosity Wall paints, thick varnishes and thick stains often do need diluting.

PAINT PREPARATION

Check/test the viscosity of the to be sprayed material. Put the stirring rod (12) in the container(11) which includes the to be sprayed material and pull it out and see how the material drips. When it looks like liquid chocolate, this material is ok for testing at step 4 (Test and adjusted the spray jet effect, spray volume and spray flow). For small batches this can easily done by using the special stirring rod:

•  Put the stirring rod (12) in the container like shown in figure E1 and add spray material up to one of the lines. Like shown in figure E2.
•  For 10%: Add the suitable thinning solvent up to the next line. For 5%: Add the suitable thinning solvent up to half of the next line.
•  Stir the thinning solvent through the spray material until it is completely mixed.
•  (Test and adjusted the spray jet effect, spray volume and spray flow). Still to thick? Repeat the process by adding an additional 5 or 10% thinning solvent.

Step 2: Preparing the spray surface

•  Cover the area around the to be sprayed area thoroughly and over a wide area. Any surface that is not covered properly can unintentionally be sprayed.
•  The spray surface needs to be clean, dry, and free from grease or dust.
•  Polished surfaces should be lightly sanded, and the sanding dust removed

Step 3: Filling the paint container

•  Remove the container (11) from the Spray unit.
•  Fill the container with to be sprayed material to a maximum of 800ml.
•  Adjust the riser pipe (23) according to the position you are going to use the spray gun in. Spraying angle up like show in Fig. F. spraying angle down like show in Fig. G
•  Make sure the gasket and riser pipe (23) are properly installed in the container cap (10). Tighten the container (11) onto the container cap (10).

Step 4: Test and adjust the spray jet effect, spray volume and spray flow. (Fig. A + B)

• Choose the jet effect: Horizontally • or vertically By turning the nozzle adjusting ring (16) left or right.

•  Adjust the spray volume with Spray volume adjusting wheel (9) by turning it to the left – to reduce the volume, to the right + to increase. Note: Low
  volume is advised for smaller object or surfaces. High volume is advised or bigger surfaces.

•  Adjust the spray flow by using the spray flow adjustment knob(2): turn the knob to the left to reduce the flow, to the right to increase the flow. Note: The thinner the paint the lower the flow should be, when using thicker paint make sure to use a higher flow

•  Aim the spray gun to the to be sprayed surface and pull the trigger (1). Hold the front of the spray gun around 20-30 cm away from the to be sprayed  surface. Make long arm movements rather than short wrist movements like show in figure H. The most suitable method of surface spraying is with a cross-pattern, starting with horizontal passes and finishing with light vertical passes. See figure J.

•  Release the trigger (1) to stop the spraying.

•  Check Spray Pattern Quality A good spray pattern is evenly distributed as it hits the surface, if not (add highest spray flow) check the following:

  •  Spray tip may be worn.
  •  A smaller spray tip may be needed.
  •  Material may need to be thinned.

•  Adjust the Jet effect (step A), spray volume (step B) and Spray flow (step C) depending on the paint, object- surface to be sprayed and desired coverage. Repeat steps D to H when not satisfied with the test results.

 MAINTENANCE

The following action must be taken after every use:

•  Empty any unused paint from the paint container (11). Never leave paint to dry in the unit (container, riser pipe, needle, nozzle), as dried paint will prevent the spray gun from functioning properly. Failure to observe this important cautionary measure will void the guarantee.

•  Clean the container thoroughly with the thinner solvent you have used.

•  Put a little thinner solvent into the container and spray until only clean, thinner solvent exits the spray gun.

• Clean the gasket and riser pipe (23) with thinnersolvent.

•  Clean the nozzle and remove all remaining dirt or paint.

  •  Remove the nozzle nut (17), nozzle head (15), Nozzle (14) and nozzle needle (13) like explained in chapter replacing the nozzle.
  •  Clean all the nozzle parts thoroughly, do not let them soak in any cleaning detergent or water.

•  If the cylinder hole becomes blocked, use a suitable cylinder cleaning needle.

•  Keep the ventilation slots of the device clean toprevent the motor from overheating.

•  The ventilation slots must be free from dust and dirt. If the dirt cannot be removed, use a soft cloth dipped in soapy water. Never use solvents such as
  benzene, alcohol, ammoniac etc. These solvents may attack the plastic elements

•  The air filter (22) must be free from dust and dirt. Ones in a while you need to clean the air filter. Remove the air filter like explained in chapter “cleaning and replacing the air filter”.

•  Clean the outside of the machine – Clean plastic parts with a soft, clean cloth, preferably after each use

ENVIRONMENT

Only for EC countries
Do not dispose of power tools into domestic waste. According to the European Guideline 2012/19/EC for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and its implementation into national right, power tools that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

WARRANTY

VONROC products are developed to the highest quality standards and are guaranteed free of defects in both materials and workmanship for the period lawfully stipulated starting from the date of original purchase. Should the product develop any failure during this period due to defective material and/or workmanship then contact VONROC directly.

The following circumstances are excluded from this guarantee;

•  Repairs and or alterations have been made or attempted to the machine by unauthorized service centers;
• Normal wear and tear;
• The tool has been abused, misused or improperly maintained;
• Non-original spare parts have been used.

This constitutes the sole warranty made by the company either expressed or implied. There are no other warranties expressed or implied that extend beyond the face hereof, herein, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall VONROC be liable for any incidental or consequential damages. The dealer’s remedies shall be limited to repair or replacement of nonconforming units or parts
