Product Information

The Telescopic Ladder TL501XX is a ladder that can be extended up to 3.2 meters in length and has a maximum load capacity of 150kg/330lbs. It has plastic feet and a stabilizing bar to ensure stability during use. The ladder is designed for use on flat, level, firm, and solid ground and should not be used during unfavorable weather conditions. The ladder should be used with caution and common sense to avoid accidents or injuries.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before using the ladder, read the operating instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with its functions and basic operation.
  2. Ensure that the ladder is serviced as per the instructions to ensure that it always functions properly.
  3. Keep the operating instructions and accompanying documentation in the vicinity of the ladder.
  4. Before and after use of the ladder, maintain a visual control of the ladder and check the plastic feet.
  5. Use the ladder on flat, level, firm, and solid ground. Ensure that the ground and ladder are free from any contaminants.
  6. Do not overreach; always keep your belt buckle (navel) inside the stiles and both feet on the same tread/rung throughout the task.
  7. Extend the ladder 1m above landing point. Do not climb the last meter of the ladder. Never climb on the top four treads of the ladder.
  8. Use the ladder the correct way up. Never erect or use the ladder back to front or upside down. The base should always sit firmly on the ground.
  9. No more than one person should use the ladder at the same time.
  10. If necessary, take additional safety precautions by securing the top and bottom sections of the ladder.
  11. Do not use the ladder as a bridge or bridge section. Do not use the ladder horizontally.
  12. Beware of electrical hazards when transporting the ladder. This ladder is not suitable for live electrical work as it is conductive and offers no protection from electrical hazards.
  13. Face the ladder and keep a secure grip when ascending and descending. Place your foot on the lowest tread to stabilize the ladder during extending. If you are extending the ladder to its full length, you should always extend from top to bottom.
  14. Ensure to place your hands correctly when retracting the ladder. Do not place your hands on top of the rungs.
  15. Do not engage the locking mechanisms manually.
  16. Position the ladder against a flat, non-fragile surface.
  17. Ensure the plastic feet are placed correctly and in the correct angle.
  18. Do not use the ladder without the stabilizing bar.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The following GREEN SQUARE symbols indicate proper use. The following RED CIRCLE symbols indicate misuse and are provided as a visual reminder for use. They are not an exhaustive list of use instructions or warnings. Care, diligence and common sense must be provided by the user when using the ladder to avoid accident or injury.
Failure to follow any provided instructions will void your warranty and could be considered misuse.

Explanation of the symbols
Read the operating instructions carefully before using this ladder. Familiarise yourself with its functions and basic operation. Service the ladder as per the instructions to ensure that it always functions properly. The operating instructions and the accompan-ying documentation must be kept in the vicinity of the ladder.

Denotes risk of personal injury, loss of life or damage to the ladder in case of non-obser-vance of the instructions in this manual.

The inclination angle of the ladder must amount to approximately 65-75° (ratio 1 : 4).

Maintain a visual control of the ladder before and after use of the ladder.

Check the plastic feet of the ladder before and after use of the ladder.

Beware of electrical hazards when transporting the ladder. This ladder is not suitable for live electrical work as it is conductive and offers no protection from electrical hazards.

Face the ladder and keep a secure grip when ascending and descending.

Position the ladder against a flat, non-fragile surface.

When retracting the ladder, use both hands to grasp the hand grips on either side of the tread, then disengage the locking mechanisms with your thumbs.

SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Failure to adhere to the warnings and instructions contained in this manual and on the product could result in serious or fatal injury.

BEFORE USE
ENSURE THAT YOU ARE FIT ENOUGH TO USE A LADDER. CERTAIN MEDICAL CONDITIONS OR MEDICATION, ALCOHOL OR DRUG ABUSE COULD MAKE LADDER USE UNSAFE.

  • Before using the ladder it shall be checked that all locking mechanisms are working properly. If the mechanism is not working properly, do not use the ladder.
  • Wear tight-fitting clothing, remove jewellery and tie long hair back when using the ladder.
  • Always wear suitable footwear when climbing a ladder; flat, dry, treaded, shoes with securely tied laces are considered appropriate footwear.
  • Ensure that the surface you will rest the ladder against is capable of supporting the combined weight of the ladder, operator and any carried objects.
  • Doors (but not fire doors or similar), windows and areas of entry/exit should be secured when using the ladder.
  • All distractions should be reasonably avoided. Always set up the Telescopic Ladder so that it is always freely accessible.
  • When transporting ladders on roof bars or in a car, ensure they are suitably placed and secu- red to prevent damage.
  • The ladder shall be inspected after delivery and before every use to confirm condition and operation of all parts.
  • Visually check that the ladder is not damaged and is safe to use at the start of each working day when the ladder is to be used.
  • Remove any contamination from the ladder, such as wet paint, mud, oil or snow.
  • For frequent users, regular periodic inspection is required.
  • Before using a ladder at work, a risk assess-ment should be carried out respecting the legis-lation in the country of use.
  • Ensure the ladder is suitable for the task. If unsure, contact a qualified person for guidance.
  • Do not use a damaged or otherwise unsuitable ladder.

POSITIONING AND ERECTING THE LADDER

  • Ensure the ladder is fully collapsed, all locks are secured and the ladder is free from contami-nants before moving to the area of work. Only erect and close in a safe work area. Do not move the ladder when erect.
  • Only position and use the ladder on an even, level and unmoveable base.
  • When positioning the ladder, take into account risk of collision with the ladder e.g. from pedes-trians, vehicles or doors.
  • Secure doors (not fire exits) and windows where possible in the area.
  • Identify any electrical risks in the work area, such as overhead lines or other exposed electrical equipment. This ladder does not offer insulation or protection from electrical hazards.
  • Take extra care when using electrical equipment, this ladders conducts electric current. Always take precautions so that a power cable cannot become trapped or become caught when using the ladder. Check beforehand that your tool’s electrical cable is undamaged. Keep the ladder at least 2m away from non-insulated live electri-cal equipment.
  • The ladder shall be only be positioned flat on its feet, not the rungs or steps. Never position or use the ladder on slippery surfaces (such as ice, shiny surfaces or significantly contaminated solid surfaces) unless additional effective measures are taken to prevent the ladder slipping or ensu-ring contaminated surfaces are sufficiently clean.
  • The ladder shall be erected at the correct positi-on, such as the correct angle for a leaning ladder (angle of inclination approximately 1:4) with the rungs or treads level (e.g. 1m away from the base of a wall if extending to climb 4m up).
  • Always position the ladder against a flat, non-fra-gile surface and secure properly before use e.g. tied down or with the use of a suitable stability device.
  • T he locking mechanisms for all the extended rung sections shall be locked before using the ladder.
  • Never attempt to move or reposition the ladder from above.

USING THE LADDER

  • Do not exceed the maximum total load of 150kg/330lbs for this ladder.
  • Only allow one person to use the ladder at any time.
  • Ladders should only be used for light work of short duration.
  • Use non-conductive ladders for unavoidable live electrical work. This ladder is not suitable for live electrical work as it is conductive and offers no protection from electrical hazards.
  • Never erect or use the ladder upside down. The base should always sit firmly on the ground.
  • Do not use the ladder outside in adverse we-ather conditions, such as strong wind or rain.
  • Do not leave an extended ladder unattended.
  • Take precautions against children playing on the ladder.
  • Do not place any tools or other objects on the rungs and do not hang anything on the ladder system.
  • Equipment carried while using a ladder should be light and easy to handle.
  • Face the ladder and keep a secure grip when ascending and descending.
  • Do not slide down the stiles of the ladder. Climb and descend with deliberate movements.
  • Always maintain 3 points of contact with the ladder at all times e.g. two feet on the same rung and a hand on the stiles. Use additional safety equipment if this is not possible.
  • Maintain a handhold whilst working from a ladder or take additional safety precautions if you cannot.
  • Do not overreach; always keep your belt buckle (navel) inside the stiles and both feet on the same step/rung throughout the task.
  • Avoid work that imposes a sideways load on ladders, such as side-on drilling through solid materials (e.g. brick or concrete).
  • In the leaning ladder position it is not allowed to climb higher than last metre of the ladder.
  • The user shall put the hands around the stile when bringing the ladder from extended to storage position.
  • Do not stand on the top four rungs on the lad-der; this can cause stability issues.
  • Do not use the ladder as a bridge.
  • Leaning ladders used for access to a higher level should be extended at least 1m above the landing point.
  • Do not step off a leaning ladder at a higher level without additional security, such as tying off or use of a suitable stability device.
  • Do not step off the side of the ladder.
  • Do not spend long periods of time on a ladder without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk).
  • Take care when closing the ladder to not catch any fingers, clothing or hair in the mechanisms. Close one rung at a time.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Intended use
The Telescopic Ladder is designed and intended for domestic use, as a climbing aid in home and garden environments and for hobby purposes. This ladder is not a toy. Children should be supervised at all times to ensure they do not play with the ladder system. This ladder is not developed for professi-onal use. The Telescopic Ladder must be handled, cared for and maintained in accordance with these instructions. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property, personal injury or even death. The ladder complies to the norms of EN131, 96-333 and Warenwet.

ASSEMBLY

  • The Stabiliser Bar must be fitted before use. NEVER use the ladder without the Stabiliser Bar.
  • Take care during assembly that the ladder does not fall over. If necessary, get assistance from a second person.

Mounting the stabiliser bar (Fig. A, B)

  • Flip the Telescopic Ladder vertically so that the feet are accessible. You will notice plastic pins in the slot on each foot. In order to fit the Stabiliser Bar (9), these pins will need to be snapped. This can be done easily using a flathead screwdriver.
  • Once the pins have been snapped and removed, the Stabiliser Bar (9) will fit into the slots. You will need to line up the holes on the Stabiliser Bar with the holes on the legs of the Telescopic Ladder. NOTE: You may need a rubber hammer to care-fully tap the Stabiliser Bar into the slots securely.
  • With the Stabiliser Bar (9) slotted onto the feet of the Ladder, secure into place using the 2 bolts and nuts provided, as shown on figure B. Tighten with a wrench to secure.

OPERATION

Before using the ladder, always observe the safety instructions and obey the relevant regulations.

Opening the ladder to intermediate length
(Fig. A, C, D)
The telescopic ladder will automatically engage the locking mechanisms when opening. Each section has its own locking mechanisms.

  • Place the Telescopic Ladder on a firm, level surface. Ensure the ladder is in closed position as shown on figure D1.
  • Unlock the Storage strap (4).
  • Place one foot on the Bottom Rung (5) to stabi-lise the ladder. Ensure that the front side of the ladder is facing you.
  • Starting with the second rung from the bottom (as shown in figure D2), use both hands to grasp the Hand Grips (7) on either side of the rung and pull upwards to extend the step.
  • When each step is fully extended, you should hear a “click”, confirming that the Locking Mechanisms (6) are engaged for that level.
  • Check that all opened rung sections are locked, the red Locking Mechanisms (6) should be clearly visible, as shown on figure C2. Meanwhi-le, the red parts of the Retract Levers (8) should not be visible. Also ensure that all the distances between opened rungs are of equal height.
  • When all sections are locked, you can use
    the ladder. Position the ladder with a correct angle for a leaning ladder (angle of inclination approximately 1:4) with the rungs or treads level (e.g. 1m away from the base of a wall if extending to climb 4m up).

Opening the ladder to full length (Fig. A, C, D)
If you are opening the Ladder to its full length, you should always extend from top to bottom.

  • Place the Telescopic Ladder on a firm, level surface. Ensure the ladder is in closed position as shown on figure D1.
  • Unlock the Storage strap (4).
  • Place one foot on the Bottom Rung (5) to stabi-lise the ladder. Ensure that the front side of the ladder is facing you.
  • Starting with the Top Bar ((1) as shown in figure D3), use both hands to grasp the Hand Grips (7) on either side of the rung and pull upwards to extend the step.
  • When each step is fully extended, you should hear a “click”, confirming that the Locking Mechanisms (6) are engaged for that level.
  • Check that all opened rung sections are locked, the red Locking Mechanisms (6) should be clearly visible, as shown on figure C2. Meanwhi-le, the red parts of the Retract Levers (8) should not be visible. Also ensure that all the distances between opened rungs are of equal height.
  • When all sections are locked, you can use the ladder. Position the ladder with a correct angle for a leaning ladder (angle of inclination approximately 1:4) with the rungs or treads level (e.g. 1m away from the base of a wall if extending to climb 4m up).

Closing the ladder (Fig. A, E)

The entire ladder is closed by using the Retract Levers (8). For safety reasons, the treads may not be closed separately.
Do not engage the locking mechanisms (6) manually. Only use the Retract levers (8) to close the ladder.

  • Hold the Telescopic Ladder in an upright position.

  • Place one foot on the Bottom Rung (5) to stabi-lise the Ladder.

  • Starting at the rung where the Retract Levers
    (8) are placed, use both hands to grasp the Hand Grips (7) on either side of the rung. Ensu-re your hands are placed in such way as shown on figure E, securing you do not catch your fingers when closing the ladder.

  • Then disengage the Retract Levers (8) with your thumbs by pushing them towards the centre, so the red parts become visible.

  • The ladder will now start closing. For safety reasons, the ladder has been fitted with a soft-closing system, preventing the ladder from closing rapidly.

Transporting the ladder (Fig. A)

Only transport the ladder when the Storage Strap is locked.
When carrying the ladder, completely close the lad-der to its most compact form. Ensure the Storage Strap (4) is locked, securing the ladder.

MAINTENANCE

The ladder is designed to function faultlessly for a long period and with a minimum of maintenance. Extend its lifespan by regularly cleaning the machine and treating it correctly. Fully collapse the ladder, closing all rungs, and secure before storage or handling.

Cleaning
Regularly clean the machine, preferably after each use. Clean with a suitable proprietary household cleaner and a soft dry cloth. Do not submerge your ladder in water or any liquid for any reason.Do not use solvents (petrol, alcohol, ammonia, etc.) as they will damage the plastic parts.

Storage
Store your ladder indoors in a dry environment away from contaminants. Do not rest other objects on the ladder. Only store the ladder when it is dry. Do not subject your ladder system to humid or damp environments, these can damage the ladder.Store the correct way up. The base should always sit on the ground.Store out of reach of children.

Maintenance
Never use a damaged or broken telescopic ladder. Temporary repairs are not permitted. Check the plastic feet of the ladder before and after use of the ladder. Do not use the ladder without the plastic feet or when the plastic feet are worn. The ladder is fitted with plastic covers at the top of the ladder, preventing dust and other contaminants from en-tering the ladder. Do not use the ladder without the plastic covers. Always maintain a visual control of the ladder before and after use of the ladder.
Repairs and maintenance shall be carried out by a competent person with suitable replacement parts. Unapproved third party spares are not recom-mended and will void your warranty.

WARRANTY

VONROC products are developed to the highest quality standards and are guaranteed free of defects in both materials and workmanship for the period lawfully stipulated starting from the date of original purchase. Should the product develop any failure du-ring this period due to defective material and/or work-manship then contact VONROC directly. The following circumstances are excluded from this guarantee:

  • Repairs and or alterations have been made or attempted to the machine by unauthorized service centers;
  • Normal wear and tear;
  • The tool has been abused, misused or improperly maintained;
  • Non-original spare parts have been used.

This constitutes the sole warranty made by compa-ny either expressed or implied. There are no other warranties expressed or implied which extend beyond the face hereof, herein, including the im-plied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall VONROC be liable for any incidental or consequential damages. The dealers remedies shall be limited to repair or replacement of nonconforming units or parts.
