IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES

  • The device must be used for the purpose for which it was designed and in the manner specified in these instructions for use. Any form of improper use can be dangerous.
  • This device may be used by children over the age of 8 and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental skills or a lack of experience or knowl-edge, provided that they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the device safely, and are fully aware of the consequent risks of use.
  • Children must not play with the device.
  • Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging materials away from children.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be per-formed by children unless supervised.
  • Do not use this device near bathtubs, shower trays or other containers which have water in them.
  • Risk of electric shock! Never submerge the device in water or other liquids. If the device falls into wa-ter, do not reach into the water! First switch off the fuse at the fuse box and then pull the mains plug out of the socket.
  • When using the device in the bathroom, unplug the plug after use as water in the vicinity constitutes a danger, even when the device is switched off.
  • As an additional safety measure, the installation in the bathroom circuit of a residual current device (FI/RCD) with a rated tripping current not exceed-ing 30 mA is recommended. Ask your installer for advice.
  • If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufactur-er, its customer service department or a similarly qualified person to avoid any risk. Do not use the device if it is damaged or not functioning correctly.
  • This device is not designed for use in commercial areas.
  • Do not pull, twist or bend the mains cable 9 ! Untangle the mains cable 9 if it is twisted. Do not wind the mains cable 9 around the device!
  • Under no circumstances should you open or re-pair the device yourself, as correct functioning of the device can no longer be guaranteed should you do so. Failure to observe this will invalidate the warranty.
  • The Hair straightener must only be used for pri-vate use to straighten and style your own hair.

DEVICE DESCRIPTION

The associated drawings are shown on page 3.

USAGE

Risk of burns and fire!

The device becomes very hot. When the device is switched on, it must only be held using the handle. Do not touch the coated hot plates 1 . Do not clamp objects between the coated hot plates 1 .

  1. Position yourself on a dry, non-conductive surface. Make sure that your hands are dry!
  2. Hair should be clean and free from styling products. The ex- ception to this is special products designed to help straight-en hair.
  3. Comb your hair with a large-toothed comb to get rid of any tangles.
  4. Open the device using the plate locking system
  5. Briefly hold down the ON/OFF button 4 to switch on the device.
  6. Use the temperature switch 6 to set your desired temperature. The current set temperature setting is shown in the LED display 3 . You can use the temperature switch 6 to increase or decrease the temperature in 10°C increments. We recommend the following temperature settings:
  7. The LED display 3 flashes during the heat-up phase. As soon as the device is heated up, an acoustic signal sounds and the LED display 3 lights up continuously. The device is now ready for use.
  8. Part the hair into individual sections of approximately 3 to 4 cm.
  9. Place the individual sections between the coated hot plates 1 close to the root.
  10. Slowly move the device from the roots to the tips in a fluid motion. Never hold the device in one place for more than two seconds. This will achieve the best results without subjecting your hair to excess stress or damage.
  11. To shape the tips, turn the device outwards or inwards before moving it over the tips.
  12. Press the ON/OFF button 4 to switch off the device. Place the device on a non-flammable surface.
  13. After each use, pull the mains plug out of the socket. Leave the device to completely cool down.
  14. Store the device in a dry place out of the reach of children. The fully cooled device can be stored and transported in a heat-resistant storage box.

Note The device has an automatic switch-off function and switches off automatically after 30 minutes for safety reasons.
Note The device has a button lock so that the device does not switch off if you press the ON/OFF button 4 unintentionally during use.

  1. To activate the button lock, press and hold the button lock button 5 for 2 seconds. The LED display 3 shows .
  2. To deactivate the button lock, press and hold the button lock button 5 for 2 seconds. The LED display 3 no longer shows .

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Risk of electric shock! Always pull the mains plug out of the socket before cleaning the device. Make sure that the device has cooled down completely.
  2. Only clean the housing of the device and the coated hot plates 1 with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. Ensure that no water gets inside the device.
  3. Protect the device from dust, dirt and humidity.
  4. Risk of fire! Do not clean the device with highly flammable liquids.
  5. Do not clean the device in the dishwasher. Do not use any aggressive, caustic, abrasive or corrosive cleaning products or hard brushes.

DISPOSAL

For environmental reasons, do not dispose of the device in household waste at the end of its service life. Dispose of the device at a suitable collection point in your country. Observe the local regulations for material disposal. Dispose of the device in accordance with EC Directive – WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). If you have any questions, please contact the local authorities responsible for waste disposal. You can obtain the location of collection points for old devices from the local or municipal authorities, local waste disposal company or your dealer, for example.
