Power adapter

  • The design of the power adapter complies with protection class II. Only connect the power adapter to a standard mains socket connected to the public supply grid.

  • The mains socket for the power adapter must be close to the monitor/DVR and easily accessible.

  • The power adapter is only suitable for use in dry, enclosed indoor spaces; it must be protected from moisture or dampness. There is a risk of a fatal electric shock!

  • Do not unplug the power adapter from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Grip the sides of the plug, and then remove the plug from the mains socket.

  • Do not touch the power adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may cause a fatal electric shock!
Fully deenergise the mains socket to which the power adapter is connected (e.g. turn off the corresponding circuit breaker or unscrew the fuse, and then turn off the residual current circuit breaker).

  • Unplug the power adapter from the mains socket and take the product to a specialist repair centre.

  • Use only the included power adapter to operate the product. If the power adapter is faulty, it must be re-placed by an identical, stabilized power adapter with the same technical specifications (voltage/current).

Monitor/DVR

  • The monitor/DVR is only suitable for dry, enclosed indoor spaces. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, heat, cold, humidity or moisture, otherwise, it will be damaged. Do not place containers filled with liquids on or near the monitor/DVR.
  • Place the monitor/DVR on a flat, horizontal, stable surface so that it cannot tip over or fall down. Use a suitable underlay to protect valuable furniture surfaces from dents or scratches. The monitor/DVR can also be secured with screws using two openings in the base.
  • Do not apply pressure to the surface of the display, because this might cause scratches, or break the display and thus permanently damage it. This will void the warranty!

Cameras

  • Both cameras are suitable for indoor and outdoor use (IP65). However, they must never be used in or underwater, as this will destroy them.
  • The voltage/power supply connection plugs and the BNC connectors are not protected from moisture/hu-midity. They must therefore be placed in a dry place (for example, in a suitable connection box or similar).
  • Make sure that the cables are not squeezed, bent or damaged by sharp edges. The cables must be laid firmly.
  • Operation of the cameras should not replace personal supervision of children or people with special needs, it serves to support this supervision.
  • Mount the cameras so that they are not oriented directly to bright light sources such as the sun or spot-light. This will lead to an overexposed and distorted image and may damage the image sensor in the event of constant exposure.
  • The IR light is invisible to the human eye. It is therefore not possible to tell whether an IR LED is on or not. Due to the intensity of the in-built IR LEDs, there is a risk of damage to the eye if you look at them from a short distance (<2 m). Attention: IR LED light! Do not look directly into the IR LED light! Do not look into the beam directly or with optical instruments!

IR remote control

  • The IR remote control must not get damp or wet. The membrane keypad is very sensitive, so do not press the buttons with pointed or sharp objects, as this will damage them.
  • The IR remote control must be powered by a CR2025 battery.

  • Set date/time Use this menu to set the date and the time. These data can be displayed both in the video image (can be enable/disabled) and in the file name. Check the time occasionally. In addition, the summer/winter time must be set manually.

  • Reformat SD memory card A newly purchased memory card usually comes pre-formatted and should pose no problems when used in the monitor/DVR. If no recordings can be created or saved, reformat the memory card. Please note: All existing data on the memory card will be permanently lost after formatting!

  • Reset settings to factory defaults Here you can reset all settings to factory defaults if necessary.

  • Display information about the SD memory card used
The display shows the occupied space on the used memory card or the memory card size (for example: 20.2 GB/29.7 GB = 20.2 GB are already used, 29.7 GB are a memory capacity of a 32 GB memory card). There are two different methods for calculating the memory capacity.

    • kByte = 1024 bytes (binary = 2^10). 1 MByte = 1024*1024 = 1048576 bytes (binary = 2^20) etc.
    • kByte = 1000 bytes, 1 MByte = 1000000 bytes etc.
  • Memory card manufacturers use method 2, but the monitor/DVR manufacturer uses method 1. For this reason, a 32 GB memory card inserted in the monitor/DVR is displayed as 29.7 GB. You can also notice these differences in the computer operating systems/data carriers.

  • Motion Detection Off, Low, Middle, High

  • Display firmware version This display shows information about the current firmware version.

Troubleshooting

With the surveillance system you have purchased a product that has been designed according to the state of the art and is reliable in operation. Even then, problems and malfunctions can occur. Therefore, observe the following information on how to solve the possible malfunctions.

Camera image is not displayed

  • Check that the RJ45 plug is correctly inserted into the corresponding socket on the back of the monitor/DVR and that the plug is locked in place.
  • Check that the BNC connectors between the monitor/DVR, connection cable and cameras are correctly locked.

The recording is black and white.

  • At night-time, the IR LEDs turn on and recordings are made in black and white.

There is no image on the LC display

  • Switch on the monitor/DVR.
  • The LC display is automatically switched off to save electricity (time can be set in the menu, the function can also be disabled). Press any button on the monitor/DVR or the IR remote control.

Motion detection does not function properly

  • Motion detection is based on the detection of changes in the camera image. This type of motion detection is different from devices that use a PIR sensor. PIR sensors react to a change in temperature. Advantages: Works independently of the ambient temperature and the moving object’s temperature; motion detection is also possible through glass
Disadvantages: False tripping is possible e.g. due to moving vegetation or rapid changes in brightness (e.g. sun/clouds)

  • Re-position the camera.

  • The objects in the detection range are moving too fast.

The SD card is not recognised

  • The monitor/DVR only supports SD memory cards up to 128 GByte.
  • The monitor/DVR only supports FAT and FAT32 file formats (NTFS is not supported).
  • Use the corresponding function of the monitor/DVR to format the memory card, as described in section 11. g); all data on the memory card will be lost. The formatting process may take some time depending on the memory card size.
  • Remove the memory card, and then insert it back into the monitor/DVR.
  • Use a different memory card.
  • Switch off the monitor/DVR, and then switch it back on.

Recordings can’t be saved

  • Is the data carrier full? Insert a new, empty SD memory card.

  • If necessary, enable automatic overwrite of the memory card, as described in section 11. f). The oldest recordings are overwritten with the current recordings and are lost.
When the overwrite feature is disabled, recordings will not be saved if the data carrier is full.

  • Switch off SD memory card write protection (you will find a small slide switch on the edge of the SD memory card).

  • If the write protection slide switch on the SD memory card is very easy to move, write protection may be accidentally enabled when you insert the SD memory card into the monitor/DVR.

  • Use the corresponding function of the monitor/DVR to format the SD memory card, as described in section 11. g). All data on the SD memory card will be lost. The formatting process may take some time depending on the data carrier size.

  • The monitor/DVR only supports FAT and FAT32 file formats (NTFS is not supported).

  • If problems occur when saving information on the SD memory card, make sure that it complies with at least
“Class 4” or higher. This ensures that the SD memory card’s write speed is sufficient to ensure continuous video data recording.

There is no sound when playing video records

  • The cameras have no microphone; audio recording is not possible.

Video quality is too bad

  • Select the higher quality level in the menu (see section 11. f)).

Recordings cannot be played back

  • Simultaneous playback is not possible while the monitor/DVR is recording camera video signals. First stop recording.
  • You are using a different software when playing on a computer.

The IR remote control does not work

  • Replace the battery in the IR remote control. When inserting the battery, observe the correct polarity.
  • Orient the IR remote control so that its front faces the monitor/DVR receiver.

A faint click sound can be heard in the camera

  • This is normal. The mechanical action of the integrated camera IR filter produces noise when switching on (sufficient ambient brightness, colour display on the monitor) or off (ambient brightness too low, black and white display on the monitor).
  • Proximity to poorly shielded or uncovered computers or other electrical appliances

Care and cleaning

Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may damage the housing or stop the product from functioning properly.

  • Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning.
  • Use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
  • Never direct the water jet from a garden hose or high-pressure cleaner at the cameras.
  • Never press hard on the LC display! This can lead to scratch marks and cause the display to break. This will void the warranty!
