IMPORTANT NOTICE

Failure to observe the following points may result in damage to the amplifier or loudspeakers. Damage caused in such a way are not covered by warranty.

  • Observe the correct impedance for your loudspeaker and use the appropriate output socket.
  • Always use loudspeaker cables for connection between the amplifier and the loudspeaker. Never use other types of cable such as instrument cable and microphone cable.

Before you get started
Your product was carefully packed at the factory to ensure safe transport. Nevertheless, if the box is damaged inspect the unit immediately for signs of damage.

  • If the unit is damaged please do NOT return it to us, but notify your dealer and the shipping company immediately, otherwise, claims for damage or replacement may not be granted.
  • Always use the original box to prevent damage during storage or transport.

The unit must always be connected to the main outlet with a protective grounding connection.

Important notes concerning installation

The sound quality may diminish within the range of powerful broadcasting stations and high-frequency sources. Increase the distance between the transmitter and the device and use shielded cables for all connections.

Step 1: Hook-Up

Always use speaker cables for these connections! Bugera-PS1-Attenuator-For-
Guitar-Amplifiers-FIG4

Step 2: Controls

  1. SOAK control adjusts the level of attenuation applied to speaker output.
NOTE: Even with the SOAK control turned up to 100 (full clockwise) the effective power at the speaker will be about half of the amplifier output power.

  2. LINE control adjusts signal level at the LINE output jack.

  3. EMULATED MIC balanced XLR output mimics a microphone in front of a speaker cabinet, ideal for signal feed to PA/recording consoles.

  4. LINE output jack for connecting to an external power amplifier or effects processor in professional applications. The signal from the LINE output is not treated with speaker/mic simulation.

  5. SPEAKER output jack allows the connection of a speaker cabinet. Always use a speaker cable for this connection!

  6. AMP INPUT jacks are provided at impedances of 4, 8 or 16 Ohms to match any amplifier. Always use a speaker cable for this connection. Bugera-PS1-Attenuator-For-Guitar-Amplifiers-FIG5

Step 3: Getting started

  1. Power on your tube amp, and switch the amp into Standby mode while making connections.

  2. Choose an appropriate Ohm rating to match both the amplifier’s Ohm setting and the speaker cabinets’ Ohm rating. For example, if the speaker cabinet is rated at 4 Ohms, make sure to use the AMP INPUT jack, and make sure your amplifier is also set to run at 4 Ohms.

  3. Run a speaker cable from the amplifier’s speaker output to the AMP INPUT jacks on the back of the PS1.
ATTENTION! To avoid damage to your amp, never use a valve amplifier without a load connected, such as PS1 and/or a loudspeaker!

  4. Run another speaker cable from the SPEAKER output jack to the speaker cabinet’s input. Always use loudspeaker cables for connection between the amplifier and the loudspeaker. Never use other types of cable such as instrument cable and microphone cable.

  5. Run an XLR cable from the EMULATED MIC output to your mixing board channel inputs if you wish to record or perform with a buffered direct signal rather than using a microphone

  6. Run a standard line-level ¼” TS cable from the LINE output to additional amplifiers or other outboard gear for further processing. The signal from the LINE output is not treated with speaker/mic simulation.

  7. For minimal volume, set the SOAK and LINE knobs to 0 (full counter-clockwise).

  8. Connect your guitar to the amp input, and then switch the amp from Standby mode to ON.

  9. While playing, turn amp volume and SOAK up slowly, until you find a good balance between volume and the tonal characteristics of your amp.
NOTE: Even with the SOAK control turned up to 100 (full clockwise) the effective power at the speaker will be about half of the amplifier output power.

  10. If you are running a signal from the LINE output, turn the LINE knob clockwise until you find the correct gain for your additional outboard equipment.
