G20 INFINIUM Controls

Step 2: Controls

  1. The POWER switch turns the amp on and off. The jewel lamp lights when power is on and flashes to indicate an error. See Infinium advice for details.

  2. STANDBY switch mutes the amp’s output and preserves your amp’s power tube. Put the amp into STANDBY mode when you are practicing via headphones rather than via speaker cabinet.

  3. The MASTER knob controls the amp’s overall output.

  4. REVERB knob adjusts the amount of reverb effect.

  5. MORPH knob blends the tonal character of the overdrive channel from an American style to a British flavor. The effect of this knob is more subtle when the MIDDLE knob is at the center 12:00 position, and more pronounced with the MIDDLE set very high or very low.

  6. EQ knobs adjust the low, middle, and high frequencies of the guitar tone.

  7. OVERDRIVE VOLUME knob adjusts the volume level of the overdrive channel.

  8. The GAIN knob adjusts the amount of distortion on the overdrive channel.

  9. The CHANNEL button switches between the clean and overdrive channels.

  10. The TONE knob adjusts the brightness of the
    clean channel.

  11. CLEAN VOLUME knob adjusts the volume level of the clean channel.

  12. INPUT – connect your guitar to this jack.

  13. LINE input allows the connection of external audio sources for jamming and practicing purposes.

  14. EFFECTS LOOP SEND and RETURN jacks allow connection of effects devices. Use the LEVEL button to select +4 dB for use with rack effect processors, or the 10 dB setting for use with stompbox effects.

  15. FOOTSWITCH input allows connection of the included footswitch.

  16. EMULATED OUTPUT jack allows the connection of headphones or a line out for recording. The signal emulates the sound of either a 1×12 or 4×12 cabinet, selectable via the adjacent button. This output works even when the amp is in Standby.

  17. SPEAKER IMPEDANCE switch selects between 4, 8, and 16 Ohms.

  18. AMPLIFIER OUTPUT jack allows the connection of a speaker cabinet. Always use a speaker cable for this connection!

  19. INFINIUM LEDs will light when the power tubes need to be replaced. The power section can accept EL34 or 6L6 tubes, and the stock ECC83A preamp tubes can be replaced with other variations.

  20. IEC SOCKET accepts the included power cable.

Bugera INFINIUM Valve Life Monitoring

The INFINIUM Tube Life Monitoring circuitry continuously monitors the output tube biasing for optimum performance and consistent tone, even as the tube ages. When the output tube does need to be replaced, the tube’s matching LED on the back panel will light permanently. When you do need to replace a tube, you may plug in the new tube and immediately begin using the amplifier; you will not need a technician to set up the bias for the new tube.

To replace a faulty output tube:

  1. Switch off the amplifier and wait for the output tube to cool down to a safe temperature before touching it.
  2. Press down the tube retainer to the chassis using two fingers of one hand, and then gently pull on the tube while lightly rocking back and forth until the tube loosens and slides out of the socket.
  3. Carefully insert the new tube, making sure the new tube’s prongs are properly aligned with the matching holes and the center coding pin is aligned with the corresponding notch in the Octal socket.
  4. Gently push the new tube until it sits firmly in the socket.
  5. Switch the amplifier back on in Standby mode.
  6. When the tube has warmed up to operating temperature, you may switch the amplifier out of Standby mode.
  7. The INFINIUM Tube Life Monitoring LED should now turn off and you can begin playing.

WARNING: When the front panel light starts flashing regularly, this indicates the amp cannot work due to too many issues. In this case we recommend replacing the faulty power amp tube immediately.
