Your Amica appliance is exceptionally easy to use and extremely efficient. Before being packaged and leaving the manufacturer, this appliance was thoroughly checked with regard to safety and functionality. Before using the appliance, please carefully read these Operating Instructions Symbols appearing in these instructions have the following meaning:

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Note! To minimize the risk of fire, electric shock or injury:

  • Children do not realize the dangers that can arise when using electrical appliances; therefore keep the appli-ance out of reach of children.
  • Do not immerse the body of the appliance in water or other liquids. Immersing in water may cause an electric shock.
  • If water spills on the external components of the appli-ance, dry it thoroughly before switching back on.
  • Do not touch wet surfaces in contact with the appliance connected to power supply, immediately disconnect it from the mains.
  • Do not use the appliance if it shows any signs of damage to the power cord, or if the appliance has been dropped on the floor.
  • After use, always pull out the plug from the socket, and also in case of any malfunction, before cleaning or before changing accessories.
  • When pulling out the plug from the wall outlet, never pull by the cord, only the plug, holding the socket with your other hand.
  • The appliance is Class I fire protection electrical equip-ment.
  • Do not attempt to remove any parts of the housing.
  • To prevent damage to the power cord, do not place it over sharp edges or close to hot surfaces.
  • Do not expose the appliance to rain or humidity, and do not use it outdoors. Do not operate the appliance with wet hands.
  • If the power cord or plug is damaged, it should be replaced by a professional repair shop in order to avoid hazard.
  • Never place the appliance on hot surfaces.
  • Never leave the appliance connected to the mains without supervision.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with physical, mental or sensory handicaps, or by persons inexperienced or unfamiliar with the appliance, unless under supervision or in accordance with the instructions as communicated to them by persons responsible for their safety. Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and older or by persons with physical, mental or sensory handicaps, or by those who are inexperienced or unfamiliar with the appliance, provided they are supervised or have been instructed how to safely use the appliance and are familiar with risks associated with the use of the appliance. Ensure that children do not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance should not be performed by children unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised by a competent person. The surface on which the appliance is used shall be level, clean and dry.
  • Do not use the appliance for purposes other than its intended use.
  • Take all precautions, do not touch any hot surfaces of the appliance. Do not cover put away or cover the appli-ance it until it has completely cooled down.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in places where it could come into contact with other heat sources.
  • Note! Bread can burn. When using the appliance, allow sufficient clearance above and on all sides of the appli-ance for adequate air circulation. The appliance must not come into contact with curtains, wall decorations, clothes, paper towels or other flammable materials during the operation. Use an insulated thermal on any surfaces that may be sensitive to high temperature.
  • Do not use the appliance to toast sugar-containing food, products containing fruit or preservatives.
  • Note! The appliance is not intended to be operated us-ing external timers or a separate remote control system. This appliance is designed to prepare toasted sand-wiches, rusks or similar food — do NOT use it for any other purpose.
  • Do not touch the surface marked with the symbol when the appliance is on or after operation. These sur-faces are hot. (Fig. 1).
  • Use a wooden spatula to remove it from the appliance. Wooden utensils are the best to use as they do not damage the Teflon surface of the heating elements of the appliance.
  • Do not use any metal utensils to remove food from the heating plates. The Teflon surface may be damaged. empty appliance for about 15 minutes. This will remove any unpleasant odours that may remain due to the manufacturing process. After this, let the appliance cool down completely.
  • When you have placed the sandwiches to be toasted in the appliance, only touch the lock and/or the lid handle, both during and after the toasting.
  • Steam and hot air will be released from the food when toasting. Be especially careful when opening and closing a hot appliance.
  • You can toast one or two sandwiches at a time. The maximum thickness of one slice of bread should not exceed 1 cm.

UNPACKING

During transportation, protective packaging was used to protect the appliance against any damage. Af­ter unpacking, please dispose of all elements of packaging in a way that will not cause damage to the environ­ment. All materials used for packaging the appliance are environmentally friendly; they are 100% recyclable and are marked with the appropriate symbol.

Note! Packaging materials (bags, polyethylene, pol­ystyrene, etc.) should be kept away from children during unpacking.

DISPOSAL OF OLD APPLIANCE
In accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU and local legislation re­garding used electrical and electronic goods, this appliance is marked with the symbol of the crossed­out waste container. This marking indicates that the appliance must not be disposed of together with other household waste after it has been used. The user is obliged to hand it over to waste collec­tion centre collecting used electrical and electron­ic goods. The collectors, including local collection points, shops and local authority departments pro­vide recycling schemes. Proper handling of used electrical and electronic goods helps avoid environmental and health haz­ards resulting from the presence of dangerous com­ponents and the inappropriate storage and process­ing of such goods. 14

Use the sandwich maker

  • Plug the appliance into a power outlet, the orange and green indicators will light up.
  • Wait a few minutes for the appliance to reach the maximum temperature – the green indica-tor goes out.
  • Release the lock and open the sandwich maker.
  • Brush one slice of bread with a thin layer of vegetable oil or butter and place it the oiled side down on the lower heating plate. Put the toppings on the bread slice. Cover with the second slice of bread. Brush the top slice with vegetable oil or butter.
  • Close the sandwich maker carefully. If it is difficult to close the lid, remove some of the sandwich filling. Do not force close the lid as this may damage the appliance.
  • After a few minutes, depending on the recipe open the sandwich maker and remove the sandwich. Be careful when taking the sandwich out of the sandwich maker:
  • Unplug the sandwich maker from power after use.
    Note! When consuming sandwiches immediately after toasting, be careful not to scald yourself, as sandwiches, filling or condiments may be hot.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before any cleaning or maintenance, make sure that the appliance is unplugged from the power source and has cooled down completely.
  • Do not use corrosive or abrasive substances for cleaning. Use only clean water with a mild detergent and a soft cloth.
  • Wipe the casing of the appliance with a damp cloth, do not under any circumstances immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid or aim jets of water at it. Dry the appliance thoroughly after cleaning.
  • Wipe the heating plates with a soft and slightly damp cloth and then dry with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use cleaning agents that may scratch or damage the external surfaces and the non-stick layer of heating plates. After each use of the sandwich maker, taking special precautions, remove the accumulated crumbs and residue from the heating plates.

Warranty
Warranty service as stated on the warranty card. The manufacturer shall not be held liable for any damage caused by improper use of the product.
