Meet The Wireless Sensors

Siren Marine Wireless Sensors are easy to install and ideal for hard-to-access areas.

Wireless Sensor Installation

**READ BEFORE STARTING

**

Important information on maintenance and installatio n:

  • Keep all wired connections to battery terminals and bilge pumps clean and tight.
  • Battery life expectancy is two years, however we recommend replacing the internal battery of your wireless sensor every year.
  • The wireless sensors should be installed on a smooth flat surface.
  • Siren Marine adhesive strips are very strong and cannot be easily repositioned. Before you press and hold it for 30 seconds, be sure the wireless sensor is aligned correctly and is communicating with your Siren Marine main device.

Mounting with Screws:

If your surfaces are rough, dirty or prone to high heat or humidity, install your wireless sensor with the supplied bracket and screws.

  • Remove the wireless sensor from its supplied mounting bracket to expose the screw holes.
  • Align the mounting bracket in the desired location. Be sure to drill a pilot hole to avoid any cracking or chipping on the surface.
  • Secure the mounting bracket using the supplied mounting screws.
  • Snap the wireless sensor into the mounting bracket.

Note: Mounting wireless sensors onto metal material (i.e. metal doors and walls) may degrade the signal to the Main Device.

Mounting with Adhesive Strip:

  • Make sure the surface is clean and dry.
  • Peel the protective cover off the adhesive strip on the back of the mounting bracket.
  • Align the mounting bracket in the desired position and press evenly with your palm.
  • Hold in place for at least 30 seconds.
  • Snap the wireless sensor into the mounting bracket.
  • Plug the wireless sensor into the wireless module and tighten the two hex screws.

Note: Mounting wireless sensors onto metal material (i.e. metal doors and walls) may degrade the signal to the Main Device.

Wireless Sensor Pairing Preparation

Please verify you have the correct sensor model for your device.

  • Wireless Sensors compatible with the MTC Main Device have the Siren Marine logo (two orange half circles) on the front cover
  • Wireless Sensors compatible with a Siren 3 Series Main Device have the same logo on the front cover, but with the addition of the number “3” above the logo

Wireless Sensors are not interchangeable between the MTC and Siren 3 Series Main Devices. The sensor will not pair to the Main Device if it is not the correct model. Sensor tails are interchangeable, but we advise using the new tails that come with new sensors if you are replacing a sensor or have upgraded from a previous generation device.

Before You Begin Before

pairing sensor modules, assure solid cellular connectivity by noting the indicator lights on the Main Device or in the Siren Marine Mobile App. On a Siren 3 Series Device, the cellular LED indicator (leftmost) should be solid green (not flashing), to indicate cellular connectivity.

Once a Wireless Sensor has successfully communicated with the Main Device, the wireless sensor LED (third from the left) will turn from flashing to solid green.

On the MTC, the amber light should be solid, not flashing.

Wireless Sensor Pairing

You will need your smartphone, Siren Marine Mobile App, active Cellular Subscription, Wireless Sensor with coin cell battery removed, and the Main Device installed and powered on. Note: If sensor was already paired, but not working correctly, remove the coin cell battery and wait at least 60 seconds before re-inserting.

  1. Bring the sensor near the Main Device with the tail connected to the sensor (if applicable).
Ensure that the tail is not connected to what the sensor is monitoring e.g. bilge pump or battery bank.

  2. Go to the Settings page of the App and select `Add Wireless Sensor’. Then use the mobile app to scan the QR code on the back of the Wireless Sensor. Follow on-screen instructions.

  3. Insert the coin cell battery into the Wireless Sensor. Siren 3 Series sensors will have a flashing LED towards the bottom of right of where the battery was inserted. (If you do not see any LED flashes, you could have the wrong sensor model or the battery could be dead.)

  4. Wait 15 minutes.

  5. Check to see if the sensor is showing a current date/time stamp in the App to indicate that the module is communicating. To verify this, tap on the tile associated with the Wireless Sensor on the home-screen where you will find the date/ time stamp under the sensor icon. Do not move the sensor away from the Main Device until you see the current date/time stamp.

  6. Once the sensor has established communication with the Main Device, bring the sensor to its desired mounting location. Verify that the sensor is still communicating by noting the date/ time stamp on the associated tile in the Siren Marine App. This will ensure the Wireless Sensor maintains signal in the location you intend to install it.

  7. If your sensor is using a battery or bilge tail, wait at least 15 minutes after sensor communication has begun before connecting the tail to a battery bank or bilge pump. If this step is not followed, you will need to remove the coin cell battery for 60 seconds and repeat starting with Step 5.

Battery Installation

IMPORTANT: Your wireless sensor comes with a CR2430 internal battery which will need to be installed after pairing the wireless sensor with the main device.

Please be sure to follow the steps below:

  • Attach sensor tail (if applicable to sensor type).
  • Remove the four screws on the back of the wireless module and remove sensor back.
  • Insert the CR2430 battery into the battery holder and wait for four red light flashes (see page 9). Be sure that the positive (+) side of the battery is facing up.
  • Replace the back of the sensor and tighten the four Phillips screws. Use care when closing up the wireless module. Make sure to tighten the screws and that all seals and O-rings are secure and in place.

NOTE: Do not over-tighten.

Once you have installed the coin cell battery, wait approximately 10-15 seconds to see a red light flash four times near the bottom right of the battery as shown in this image. If you do not see this red flash appear, please contact our customer support team for assistance.

Battery Replacement

The wireless sensor will notify you via the Siren Marine App when the internal battery voltage is low.

  • Remove the wireless sensor from the mounting bracket.
  • Remove the four screws on the back of the wireless module and remove sensor back.
  • Slide the depleted battery out of the battery holder and replace with a new CR2430 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  • Replace the back of the sensor and tighten the four Phillips screws. Use care when closing up the wireless module.
  • Make sure to tighten the screws and that all seals and O-rings are secure and in place.
  • Place the wireless module back into the mounting bracket.
