Assembly / Adjustment

Congratulations on the purchase of your new G4 Aluminium Wheelchair.
Equipped with several features and accessory choices, you are sure to enjoy the benefits of this chair.

Please follow these simple steps to assemble your wheelchair –

  1. With the chair upright, push down on the sides of the seat until it clamps into position.

  2. Height adjustable canes can be adjusted for the individual career by loosening the screws at the base of the cane and adjusting and retightening.

  3. The backrest is tension adjustable to suit each individual, these are adjusted by removing the cover and adjusting the velcro tension straps. Replace the cover and secure the velcro.

  4. The G4 also offers a reclining backrest, this is adjusted by pulling the strap at the rear where the backrest and seat meet, ensuring it clicks securely into place at the desired angle.

  5. Fit legrests (both left and right) into the fitting from an outward angle and turn inward until it locks into position. Footplate height can be adjusted using the Allen key provided. Loosen the footplate and select the desired height, retighten to secure. Elevating legrest are available for this chair and fit into place the same way as the standard legrests. To adjust loosen the screw, select the desired angle and retighten.

  6. G4 Self Propel Wheelchairs have a quick release 24” wheel. To release push the centre button on the axle and pull out. To reinstatelocate the axle back into the bracket on the frame. Ensure it is fully engaged before using the chair.

  7. Armrests flip back and are removable, height and depth are adjustable. To release the armrest push the clip at the front and flip back, to reinstate the clip back into the front
bracket and ensure it locks into place. To remove armrest push the clip at the front and pull the lever at the rear then lift the armrest out. Again ensure clipped back insecurely when replacing. To adjust the height and depth of the armrest pad press the relevant release button and lift or slide to the desired position.

  8. Care-assist hand brake, (where fitted) provides added security for the person pushing the chair. When the wheelchair is stationary, the hand brake at the wheel should be applied for added security. To apply wheel brake push forward, to release pull back.

  9. Anti-tip wheels can also be fitted to this chair, they provide safety when the user is ascending ramps and steep inclines, preventing the wheelchair from tipping backwards. If not required they can be adjusted up.

  10. To fold your Wheelchair, ensure both wheel brakes are locked. Flip the footplates up and remove them. Lift the seat in the middle (holding front and back) and pull up. The chair sides will come together. At this time you can also remove the large Self Propel wheel if required to make the chair lighter and more compact for stowing.
