AUSnew Homecare Service VP186 Dual Steerable Knee Walker
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Steerable Knee Walker from Aidapt. These instructions should be read carefully and left with the user of the product for future reference. Please ensure this equipment is installed by a competent person. VP186 – Steerable Knee Walker Do not exceed the weight limit stated as 250 lbs (17.8 St) – doing so could put you at risk. Do not use or combine bags or baskets from other manufacturers.
INTENDED USE
The Steerable Knee Walker is an innovative tool to aid recovery from foot
injury, breaks, sprains and other mobile related ailments. The Knee Walker
allows the user to evenly distribute their body weight on the device. It is
supplied with a cushioned platform to support the injured leg and ankle to
ensure no weight is placed on the lower leg.
The Knee Walker is designed for easy steering and stopping. It features brakes
for controlled movement while operating the device.
- Please note placement of the leg on the pad should be centred and positioned forward to ensure the leg covers the full length of the pad.
- Ensure the user stands as straight as possible while using the device.
- Ensure the injured foot is pointing downwards.
- Start with small steps, with practice the user should be able to move forward without deviating the opposite side.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Please examine your product for any visible damage before using/installing it. If you see any damage or suspect a fault, please do not use, but contact your supplier.
- Remove all contents from the carton.
- Straighten the tiller to the upright position. Slide the locking mechanism to the side to allow the tiller to reach its full upright position (fig. 1). Release locking mechanism to lock tiller in place (fig. 2).
- Slide the locking mechanism into the tiller groove, and depress the locking handle to secure and lock (fig. 3).
- Insert pad post into the frame; secure the pad in place by inserting a locking pin (figs. 4 & 5). Lock pin in place by sliding the tab into position (figs. 6 & 7).
- Lock pad in place by using the locking lever, turning it clockwise to tighten, before folding into the frame to secure (figs. 8 & 9).
BASKET
Your Knee Walker is supplied with a basket; attach by sliding basket
receptacles down over hooks on the front of the tiller (figs. 10 & 11).
OPERATING THE BRAKES
Ensure the Knee Walker brake system is working properly before use.
- The brake system works similar to a bicycle and also has a locking feature
- To use, simply pull the brake lever with your fingertips and pull towards the handlebar (fig. 12).
- In order to lock the brake, pull lever towards the handlebar and push down on the spring-loaded push button (fig. 13).
- To release the brake, pull the lever towards the handlebar (fig. 14). The pushpin should automatically pop up (fig. 15).
ADJUSTING THE HAND BRAKE
- For minor adjustment, the brake adjuster located on the handbrake can be turned out from the brake counterclockwise to tighten the brake, or clockwise to loosen the brake. Please ensure you keep the cable adjuster nut against the hand brake (figs. 16 & 17).
- If further adjustment is required, apply the same method of adjustment at the lower cable adjuster (figs. 18 & 19).
- As you adjust the cable and the adjuster nut away from each other the brakes will tighten, and as you adjust them closer the brakes will loosen.
ADJUSTING THE HANDLE HEIGHT
- To adjust, loosen the adjustment screw on the handle by turning it counterclockwise until it can be removed (fig. 20).
- Adjust height to desired height (fig. 21), and reinstall the adjustment screw by turning it clockwise until it is tight (fig. 22).
ADJUSTING THE PAD HEIGHT
- To adjust, loosen the locking lever located under the pad, and remove the locking pin.
- Adjust pad to the desired height and then reinstall locking pin, secure in place with retainer tab.
- Tighten the locking lever to lock pad in place.
FOLDING TILLER
To fold the tiller, release the tiller-locking handle and slide the assembly
to the side until tiller is disengaged. Fold tiller down until it rests on the
pad and releases the locking mechanism.
CAUTIONS
- Please contact your provider if any parts are loose or show excessive wear.
- Do not operate on loose gravel or uneven surfaces.
- Do not travel over large cracks or fissures.
- Move forward slowly when encountering cracks or separations is walkway surfaces.
- Do not operate in excess of 3 miles per hour.
- Do not turn unless one foot is on the ground.
- Do not turn at high speeds.
- Do not operate on an incline of about 15 degrees.
- Do not travel over drops or curbs.
- This product is not a toy.
- Always check fasteners on the tiller, wheels, brakes, and pad for tightness before use.
- Adjust the steering mechanism to the correct height.
- Do not sit, stand or lean on the steering mechanism.
- The steering mechanism is not weight-bearing.
CLEANING
All of the product components are manufactured from quality materials.
However, it is very important that you only clean your Knee Walker using a
non-abrasive cleaner or mild detergent with a soft cloth Avoid using limescale
remover. Abrasive cleaners or abrasive cleaning pads will seriously damage
your product beyond repair.
If to be disinfected by heat, one of the following three temperatures and
duration of exposition can be used:
- a temperature of 90°C for 1 minute.
- a temperature of 85°C for 3 minutes.
- a temperature of 80°C for 10 minutes.
CARE, MAINTENANCE AND YOUR OBLIGATION

Only use your Aidapt Knee Walker for the purpose for which is intended, which is as an aid
to walking. It is intended your Knee Walker is only used on standard pavements or at home. It should not be used on rough terrain or pot-holed surfaces. The use of your Knee Walker on these surfaces can seriously compromise your safety and may damage your Knee Walker beyond repair. -
Keep your Aidapt Knee Walker clean by wiping down with a damp cloth with a mild detergent. Do not under any circumstances use an abrasive or solvent-based cleaner, as this will damage the Knee Walker and void your warranty.

Wipe off all surfaces with a dry cloth and use a water dispersing agent such as WD40 on all metal joints.

Check that all wheels function correctly and that all wheels move freely and without obstruction.

Monthly checks – check that the side locking levers are poorly secure (figs. 3 & 9). Check the adjustment to your brakes (figs. 16 – 19). Ensure that the brakes are correctly adjusted.

Do not fit any parts or accessories to your Aidapt Knee Walker manufactured by another company. To do so will annul your warranty and may seriously compromise your safety.

We suggest that you check your Aidapt Knee Walker visually every day.
Please check the Knee Walker periodically for any signs of damage and if in doubt contact your supplier.

Aidapt Bathrooms Ltd guarantees the product free from defects in material and
workmanship for a period of one year. Should this product be operated under
conditions other than those recommended, or any attempts made to service or
modify the product, then the warranty is rendered void.
The product you buy may differ slightly from the illustrations. This warranty
is in addition to, and does not affect your statutory rights. Our guarantee is
administered by our retailers. If your product arrives damaged, you must
contact the retailer from whom you bought it. The retailers contact details
will be on the invoice that arrived with the product, or on the email you
received when you placed the order. Do not contact Aidapt Bathrooms Ltd, only
your retailer can arrange a replacement or refund. If your product fails
within the guarantee period, please contact the retailer from whom you bought
