ELECTRICAL INFORMATION
The complete electrical rating of your new room air conditioner is stated on
the serial plate. Refer to the rating when checking the electrical
requirements.
To minimize the risk of electric shock, make sure the air conditioner is
properly grounded. The power cord of the unit is equipped with a 3-prong
grounding plug that must be plugged into a matching grounded outlet. If an
adequate outlet is not available, it is the responsibility of the customer to
- To contact a qualified electrician to have a 3-prong, grounded outlet properly installed.
- To assure that the electrical installation is adequate and in conformance with National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest edition), and all local codes and ordinances.
Wiring Requirements
Some models require a 115/120 V AC, 60 Hz grounded outlet, protected by a 15-amp time-delay fuse or circuit breaker.
Some models require 230/208 V AC, protected by a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. These models must be installed on their own single branch circuit to obtain the best performance and avoid overloading the house’s electrical circuits, which could cause fire hazard in the event of overheating of the wires.
Power Supply Cord
The power supply cord contains a current device that senses damage to the power cord. To test your power supply cord do the following :
- Plug the power supply cord.
- The power supply cord will have 2 buttons on the plug head. Press the “TEST” button. You will notice a click as the “RESET” button pops out.
- Press the “RESET” button. Again you will notice a click as the button engages.
- The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit (on some devices this is indicated by a light on the plug head).
NOTES
- Do not use this device to turn the unit on or off.
- Always make sure the “RESET” button is pushed in for a correct operation.
- The power supply cord must be replaced if it fails to reset when either the “TEST” button is pushed, or it cannot be reset. A new one can be obtained from the product manufacturer.
- If the power supply cord is damaged, it CAN NOT be repaired. It MUST be replaced by one obtained from the product manufacturer. The power supply cord contains no user serviceable parts.
- Opening the tamper-resistant case voids all warranty and performance claims.

LOCATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Proper installation is your responsibility, therefore make sure the location where you have chosen to install your new room air conditioner satisfies the following conditions. A grounded electrical outlet within 4 ft (122 cm) of where the power cord exits the air conditioner.
- Enough free space to allow air circulation in the room to be cooled.
- A large enough window opening for the air conditioner.
- A wall that can withstand the weight of the air conditioner. This air conditioner can weigh between 51 lbs (23 kg) and 65 lbs (29.5 kg).
- A location where the condensation water can be drained easily and without affecting other people.
- A location where noise and outflowing air emitted by the unit will not disturb the neighborhood.
- A location out of reach of children, animals and plants. If unavoidable, please add fencing for safety. NOTES :
- The outdoor air vents must not be obstructed. Air must be able to circulate freely in and out of the air vents for the air conditioner to work efficiently.
- Keep away from fluorescent lamps.
WINDOW REQUIREMENTS
Double-Hung Window
These instructions are for a standard double-hung window. You will need to modify them for other types of windows. All supporting parts must be secured to firm wood, masonry or metal. The window opening should be 737 to 1041 mm wide (29 to 41 in) and 489 mm high (19-1/4 in).
Storm Window
A storm window frame will not allow the air conditioner to tilt toward the outside and will prevent proper draining. To adjust for this, fix a piece of wood to the window sill in order to elevate the air conditioner above the frame. The wood piece should be 59 mm deep (2 in) and large enough to fit inside the window frame. It should be thick enough to clear the storm window frame (or vinyl frame if one is present) by 13 mm (1/2 in). Fix the wood piece securely to the sill with nails or screws (not provided).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Installation of this appliance requires basic mechanical skills. Completion time : approximately 1 hour. We recommend that two people install this product. Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer. Product malfunction due to improper installation is not covered under the warranty. You MUST use all supplied parts and use proper installation procedures as described in these instructions when installing this air conditioner.
